Bought wrong ticket - my bad. Driver did not look at it. Raining, no sound altho apparently had been "fixed 2 days ago" moved twice as water was leaking from somewhere; guy gets on & checks tickets & tells me I had wrong one - paid another 25€; absolutely wasted day
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Hi Roberta, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about the City Sightseeing Gozo Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour. We’re very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations and that the day was affected by the weather and ticket confusion. 🌧️🚌
We understand how frustrating it must have been to discover that the ticket purchased was not valid for the route you boarded, especially after already starting the tour. Our team always aims to check tickets when passengers board to avoid situations like this, so we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We’re also sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with the audio guide and water leakage, as our buses are regularly checked and maintained. Your feedback helps us review these situations with the local team.
Despite the challenges you experienced, the Gozo sightseeing bus tour is designed to allow visitors to explore highlights such as Victoria (Rabat), the Citadel, Xlendi Bay, and the island’s scenic coastal viewpoints, with the flexibility to hop on and off along the route. 🏝️
Thank you again for your comments—they help us continue improving the experience for future visitors exploring Gozo with City Sightseeing. We hope you were still able to enjoy some of the island’s beauty during your visit.

Two day pass - two different experiences with drivers but unfortunately, the last one left a sour impression. Our bus was extremely hot. Asked if there was AC quickly told NO!! Mentioned the option of opening the door to let in some cooler air - NO!! It’s not a public bus - we paid for three hour ride - there should have been some consideration for comfort. I can only imagine what it’s like in the summer months.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Kimberly. 🙏
We’re very sorry to hear about your experience on the last ride — your comfort should always be a priority, and we regret that this wasn’t the case. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share these details, as they help us identify where we can improve.
We’ll make sure your comments are passed on to our local team in Gozo to review and ensure that better measures are taken for passenger comfort, especially regarding ventilation on warmer days. 🌤️
We hope you’ll consider giving City Sightseeing another chance in the future so we can provide the enjoyable experience you expected. 🚌🔴

This journey provides an excellent way to see the many different towns and landscapes around Gozo. Victoria is worth a separate visit on its own to allow more time to explore other stops on the route. Only disappointment was that the route did not include Marsalforn, even though the website showed it was a stop.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Hi Sue, thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed exploring the towns and landscapes of Gozo with City Sightseeing. We appreciate your note about Marsalforn and will make sure to review how stops are communicated to ensure guests have the most accurate information for planning their visit.

Do NOT book Hop on Hop off bus with Viator. Do NOT book through a cruise line. 100% cheaper when getting to the service desk or salesperson. Gave me a discount. The sales guy gave me a ticket, $20 (USD) for all day Hop on Hop off bus. So cheap! Also, for another instance, I had friends book & they booked for the wrong island, Viator would NOT give them a refund, HOW HORRIBLE OF A COMPANY for even being a FIRST time customer!!!

I’ve booked hop on hop off bus tours in many countries but my experience in Gozo was very disappointing. The bus itself was badly cared for with rain leaking in on top of me as went went along. There was also a bad smell downstairs when the engine came in.. At one stage, after a shower I asked the driver did he have something to dry off a seat upstairs and I got a very frosty reply. There was little to no interaction except calling out the stop numbers and place names.
Response from Host, Nov 2024

In reality, although there are 14 or so stops available it is best to do your research and plan for a couple of stops as there isn't time in a day to get off at all 14. I recommend the blue lagoon, and the temples as must see stops on this tour. The commentary on the bus is interesting and it's a great way to see Gozo in a day.
Response from Host, Oct 2024

Public transit travel on Malta is notoriously slow, so the HOHO buses are a great way to see a lot in a relatively more efficient manner. However, the audio doesn't always work, and goes silent for long stretches of time. I recall there were at least 5-6 stops where there was no commentary at all. The buses were also incredibly packed, even in late April; would have been nice to have more frequent buses. That said, I still thought it was worth it, and still better than taking the local public buses, which are quite unreliable.
Response from Host, May 2024
Esteemed customer,
We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to provide us with detailed feedback regarding your recent experience with our HOHO buses in Malta. Your insights are invaluable to us as we continually strive to improve the quality of our services and enhance the overall experience for our passengers.
We understand the importance of efficient transportation, especially in a destination where public transit can be notoriously slow. It is gratifying to hear that our HOHO buses provided you with a relatively more efficient means of exploring Malta's attractions. However, we sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered with the audio commentary system.
We regret any inconvenience caused by the intermittent malfunctioning of the audio system, leading to long stretches of silence and missed commentary at several stops along the route. Ensuring a seamless and informative experience for our passengers is our top priority, and we are actively investigating this issue to implement necessary improvements promptly.
Additionally, we acknowledge your concerns regarding the overcrowding of the buses, even during late April. We understand the importance of comfort and convenience during travel, and we are committed to addressing this issue by exploring options to increase the frequency of buses to better accommodate passenger demand.
Despite these challenges, we are pleased to hear that you still found value in our HOHO bus service and considered it a worthwhile option compared to the local public buses, which you rightly noted can be unreliable.
Your feedback serves as a valuable tool for us to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to enhance the overall experience for our passengers. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience experienced during your tour and appreciate your patience and understanding.
Should you decide to revisit Malta or require further assistance in planning your travels, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you once again for choosing our HOHO bus service, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you aboard again in the future.
Warm regards,
Customer Care department.

Wonderful way to truly see the island of Malta. Loved it, drivers were friendly. Only problems, the buses are sooooooo old the audio doesn’t work and the chairs/seats are gnarly.
sharron_d, Dec 2023
Seeing different parts of gozo with easy get on and off stops with plenty of time to see attractions
Brent_L, Sep 2023
This was an awful experience. We waited forever for a bus. The tour competitor had five buses for every one bus this operator had.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Dear Customer,
First of all, we would like to thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that this was your perception of the tour.
At City Sightseeing we work every day to improve our services. We will take your comment into account and apologize that the experience did not live up to your expectations and hope that you were able to finally enjoy the tour.
Best regards,

Best way to tour the town and it is very affordable. Easy to hop on and off stopping at interesting destinations.
Srdana_U, Jun 2023
Dweyra boat ride and Ramla beach are my highllights. Traffic on Gozo is quite bad, it took much longer to reach some places than expected.
Julie_F, Feb 2023
Straight forward to find after arriving by ferry. Very clear audio via head phones. History of the island was very interesting too. We didn't hop off just stayed on for the whole journey around.
jennifer_h, Nov 2022
This was a wonderful way to see as much as possible on a cruise stop in Gozo. We didn't have time to actually get on and off but the route showed us a lot of the island and we were able to get some lovely pictures.

I was staying in Marsalforn Bay in Gozo and booked this tour online which was straightforward. I think the service is good if you are coming to Gozo for the day from Malta and you are starting and finishing at the harbour at Mgarr because you can get a full day's worth of sightseeing with plenty of time for stops. But I was staying in Marsalforn and the first bus wasn't until 11.45am from there. And then that first bus did not even arrive and there was no way of knowing if indeed it would arrive! So I had to wait for the next one an hour and a half later. Not ideal as half of the day was then over. When I showed the driver my QR code on my phone for the ticket I'd paid for online, he said I should have done that at the harbour because he couldn't verify it, but I wasn't starting at the harbour! Only one of the drivers was friendly and helpful - all the others seemed bored and disinterested. I got off a few times and the bus terminated finally at the harbour but it was then unclear how I could get back to Marsalforn. The tour is not designed for anyone starting at a location other than Mgarr harbour it seems. It is not clear which route is which or how you can get back to your start point. Also, none of the bus stops had any shade/shelter from the sun either and it was very, very hot on the day I did the tour.

Everything was amazing. The people are friendly and the service was good. I’ll be back to see you again. Thankyou malta
MADELON_R, May 2022
The neolithic temples were wonderful! It was good to connect the purple and blue tours. We appreciated having water to buy.
Natalia_P, Feb 2020
The audioguide was really informative and the places in the route where beautiful. Unfortunately, because it was Sunday a lot of things were closed so I wouldn't recommend taking this tour on a Sunday if you want to have the full experience
Ulrich J, Jul 2017
Normal Hop-on Hop-off service with far too many people around. Never buy these kind of tickets through Viator or similar agents, because it doesn't give you any preferences when you arrive. We came with a cruise ship and the idea with the Hop-on Hop-off busses are brilliant, but there is absolutely no reason to pay the tickets in advance.
Gregory R, Jul 2017
We came in on a cruise ship and were met at the port by the air conditioned bus. The audio worked fine and the staff was great. We got off in Victoria and had a nice tour of the fortress and the Basilica. We hopped back on the bus and rode to the megalith site, had a good visit there. Back on the bus again and back to the port. We had great views of the island and were pleased with the route we took.
Frances C, Jul 2016
Great way to see the beautiful island of Gozo at your own pace, the commentary was very informative and helped us decide where we should hop off the bus. Highly recommended
Veselina H, Jul 2016
A day full of joy and real pleasure in the land of history and legends.....that was the most satisfied expirience for me - I could see that much just for a day tour. Very organised and always on time
Thank you
kevin a, Jul 2016
the Gozo hop-on-hop off tour was well worth it. I stopped off at the temples and at Ramla beach. It was straightforward and the buses were punctual. It was a good start to my holiday!
Denise H, Apr 2016
We were able to see the azure window doing the hop on and off. There is a boat there that with a small fee 5 each they take you out on the water too see the azure window and the caves. We love doing hop on and offs!
Evelina J, Feb 2016
Unexpectedly the tour routes were connected, which was great, however I'd say the first tour could start earlier. The other company seems to have more buses and bit better schedule.
CAROLE C, May 2015
Very disappointing--I booked it specifically to see the Ggantija Temple site. Supposedly there were 2 tours, and the Blue Tour went to the temple. I booked the blue tour. When I got there I was told the blue tour did not run from Mgarr after 11:35 and what ran instead was a combined red and blue tour. This meant I had to go to all the red-tour sights first before the blue tour sights, which meant it was well over 2 hours before I got to the Temple, very late in the day. I also didn't dare get off at any of the previous sites because I was afraid if I did, I would not have time to visit Ggantija it closes at 4:30, whereas some of the other sites had no closing hours. So the whole concept of hopping on and off a bus was useless to me, and I barely had enough time to see the one site I wanted to see. Also, when I took Viator's River Kwai tour in Thailand 2 years ago, what made it so memorable was the narrative of the place provided by the guide he told us moving, emotional stories that allowed us to experience- rather than just see- the place. On this trip, the narrative was recorded and was filled with dates, figures, statistics, numbers rather than personal stories do I really care about the water table of Gozo, or its sewer system rather than a compelling version of its history? And whenever we approached a site the recorded narrative told us what we were going to see long before we ever saw it, not while we were in front of it. ie When we get there you will see Ulysses' cave... So when we got to the site we had difficulty finding what she had talked about as we whizzed by. All in all, a boring, overly long, emphasis-on-the-wrong-things kind of tour that didn't satisfy me. What a shame--I had enjoyed my other Viator trip so much I had recommended Viator to many of my travelling friends. Now -- based on this tour -- I won't.
BRIAN D, Feb 2015
It was well organised and helped us make the best from our day on Gozo
