Itinerary

Begin with pickup from your Malta hotel (selected hotels only), and then travel in a climate-controlled coach to the port. Here, board a ferry for the crossing to the pretty island of Gozo.

On arrival, travel south to Xagħra by coach, where the majestic Ġgantija Temples await you. These UNESCO World Heritage–listed temples are among the oldest megalithic monuments in the world, predating even the Giza pyramids in Egypt and England’s Stonehenge.

Explore the site with your guide and hear about the temples’ history as you wander. Many researchers believe that this site was dedicated to the Great Earth Mother, a goddess of fertility.

Continue to Xlendi Bay, an inlet encased by cliffs, before heading to Gozo’s capital of Victoria. Stop for lunch and a glass of wine at a local restaurant before visiting the hilltop citadel.

When the time comes, return to the port and catch the ferry back to Malta. Your tour ends with a hotel drop-off.

The guide, Celine, was really knowledgeable. She took her time to answer questions. She was pleasant and accommodating to those who needed extra assistance. The sites on the tour were amazing. We had plenty of time at each stop as well.

Amazing trip

Great guide. Great place- would recommend for anyone who plans on visiting and isn’t staying on Gozo.

Great experience

Charles_C, Feb 2026
@Rita, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about imparting the rich history of Malta. She was exceptional even in sharing her theories, which may have differed from the status quo.

Nice tour

Exellent day with a knowledgeable, very organized guide. Great sights. I absolutely recommend it to everyone.

Not worth the money

Martha_M, Dec 2025
The tour guide and transportation was great. However the food was horrible. Was not worth the money tbh.

The worst tour I’ve ever took

Christina_C, Nov 2025
Overpriced, disorganized, waste of time. If you want to see Gozo, go yourself. Charging close to $100 for a tour you share with about 50 people is not right. I wanted to see Gozo and decided that it will be easier for me to take a tour. The information stated that the tour starts at 9:45am. Only the day before the tour I was informed that I need to be ready for the pick up at 8:15. The pick up van smelled like an old ashtray and we were treated to the loud music from the radio the entire ride. Later it became clear that we are brought to a tourist “hoarding” point where we were divided by languages and transferred into the buses. After that the confusion of moving everyone to the huge ferry boat and then getting back on another bus in Gozo. While there are some interesting places on the island that one could explore if you would come on your own, here you are stuck on the full bus, realizing too late that you will have to “suffer” through the whole day of this like it or not. The horrible lunch only crowned the whole experience. When we came in the restaurant was already filled with people from another 3 or 4 buses. The food was awful. Plenty of free time in the middle of nowhere before we were finally moving to our next destination. This was a total waste of my vacation day and $100. While our guide was nice enough it was not in her powers to change this experience. Malta doesn’t have all that many interesting things to see (especially when the summer season is over) and clearly there is not enough competition among smaller tourist agencies or individuals to offer more interesting tours for reasonably sized groups. Whoever organizes this tour either doesn’t care or doesn’t have a clue how to do this correctly.

Good day but improvements needed

Jane_F, Nov 2025
The tour guide Celine was excellent. Pick up was smooth and we reached the ferry quickly. Confusion ensued at the ferry as people were sorted into language groups. We got on the ferry and found Celine on the other side. Our day of touring was good and we enjoyed the sites we visited, BUT we didn’t have enough time at Ggigantija and it was WAY too crowded. We hardly got to see anything in detail - just a cursory glance at some of the placards on the museum displays. We would have liked more time in the museum and in the gift shop. The lunch was just okay and the town of Xlendi Bay was a pretty little town. After lunch there was quite a long free time - this could have been shortened to allow for more time at the ruins. Derek’s was a very scenic and interesting spot and we were glad of the free time there. We would have liked to hear more about the geology of the rock formations. The return ferry ran smoothly but again it was chaotic waiting for buses to be identified. Overall a good day but we would suggest better organization, consider more free time in the appropriate spots, and an improvement to the food offered, include soft drinks for free (not just wine- that’s insulting to non-drinkers).

Had a great day. Really learned a lot and John-paul was a fantastic guide. Always unsure whether tours are going to be worth the money but this absolutely was!

Excellent introduction to Gozo

David_N, Oct 2025
An early start and a journey across Malta to catch the Gozo Ferry passing Popeye Village. Once on Gozo our first stop was the hidden sea of Dwejra. Beautiful clear waters and a short boat trip (€5). What a fabulous spot to start the tour. Our next stop was Victoria and the Citadel atop the hill. Breathtaking views out across the landscape and many visitor attractions including WW2 shelters; Guardhouse; St. Joseph Chapel and many more. We would have liked more time to explore Victoria. A short journey to the most disappointing part of the tour - lunch. Food was OK but the service and environment was like trying to serve a 3 course meal during half time at a football match. Wine was free but water was extra (after tasting the wine the water should have been the free option!)The presence of another coach tour made the whole experience too rushed and took pleasure away from the rest of the day. After lunch we visited the Neolithic sites of Gozo. Another great part of the island to visit. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative throughout the day. The ferry back to Malta and the mini-van back to our drop off/pick up point. A bit rushed in places but an excellent introduction to Gozo.

Well worth the busy bits at the ferry Our guide was fantastic and entertaining A day well spent Met some wonderful people

Outstanding tour

Ruhel_A, Oct 2025
From the movement we let our guide, she has been nothing but incredible and fun. One of the best tours I had, her knowledge and explanation of the history was very clear and interesting. Our guide repeated instructions very well and it was easy to follow. Safety and concern was definitely at the forefront despite two guest being lost. This was entirely out of her hands. The guide made me fall so in love with Malta and its history.

Renata_M, Sep 2025
A bit rushed, especially in Dwejra Bay, but in general ok. There were instances that clearer instructions by guide would have helped to navigate better.

Exhausting but worth it!

Jason_C, Sep 2025
A very exhausting but rewarding day. Comfortable footwear for walking on uneven cobblestone streets. Some climbing at the citadel.

A well organised tour with a great guide.

Alison_S, Sep 2025
A great trip. Everyone was early so left only two pickups. Go to the ferry quickly. Good journey over but very busy. Anna was an excellent guide. Good mix of history and interesting stories. Temples were amazing and the drivers ability to cope with the narrow roads was spectacular. Lunch was a bit basic. The capital city of Victoria was pretty and the cathedral was nice. I would have liked more time to look round this part. It was a bit rushed.. Had a good chat with other people on the tour and with Anna.

Andrew_B, Sep 2025
The excursion was chaotic. The guide was a nice person, but, honestly, the tour was not fun at all. I cannot believe anyone would pay so much money for so little. The food was terrible (Malta has bad food overall). Ridiculous tour. Boring. I can't see anyone doing this tour if they knew in advance how poor the experience is and how expensive it is. Wayyyy too many people. The whole tour was something out nothing. Be VERY sure you want to see these places. You will be on a bus all day and spending crowded, congested time in-between with 10,000 of your fellow tourists.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you for your review (booking ref. 1305987391). Frankly, your comments are vague and lack any real detail. If you found the tour “chaotic,” perhaps you should clarify what exactly was chaotic. This is a cultural guided coach/walking tour, not an amusement park ride—if you wanted excitement, you should have booked a quad bike or parasailing activity. As for your remarks about Maltese food, many visitors enjoy it, so your opinion is just that—your opinion. Complaining about crowds during peak season on a group tour is unrealistic; if you want privacy, book a private tour (Gozo private tours start from €600 for guide and transportation only). The price you paid (€78) covered pick-up from Valletta and transfer to the other side of Malta, ferry tickets, admissions, visits to 5 locations, transportation in an air-conditioned bus for the whole day, a licenced tour guide in your preferred language, a 3-course lunch, transfer back to the harbour, and transfer back to your original pick-up location. And the cherry on the cake—the price you’re complaining about is actually a fraction of what you’d pay arranging all this yourself. Just to put things in perspective: a taxi from Valletta to Cirkewwa Harbour alone can cost around €50, and that’s before you even cross to Gozo. Next time, please check what you’re booking and manage your expectations accordingly.

A well organised trip, with a knowledgeable and helpful guide. However the lunch was not so good. Reminded me of bad school dinners.

Gozo Guided Day Trip Including Ggantja Temples

Monika_L, Sep 2025
We enjoyed our trip to Gozo. Definitely worth the trip. The van driver that picked us up in Valletta was a fast driver. Not too happy with that. It was a little confusing at the Gozo Ferry Terminal, but once we got our tour guide we were good. She did a great job.

It's a long day but the guide is amazing and you learn so much about the region. A great history overview

Best of the week

Best trip of the week . Gozo is gorgeous , the pace wasn’t too hurried and Ian our guide knew his stuff

Summer in Gozo

Matilde_A, Jun 2025
The boat is a must, it is almost at the end of the trip, but it is so incredible. The megalithic stones were very interesting. Tip of you go during summer, bring an umbrella, the sun can be challenging.

Gozo trip

Malcolm_G, May 2025
An extensive tour of Gozo starting at 8 45am and finishing at our hotel at 18 20pm. Having said this it was a great but tiring trip visiting historical sites and beautiful bays. Our guide Vincent was very knowledgeable always helpful and very friendly. Picked up by coach we travelled to the ferry terminal on the other side of Mellieha bay . Our group with hundreds of others boarded the ferry very organised for the 25 min crossing to Gozo . There were transferred to another coach and set off. After our first stop at Ggantiga Temple ruins we enjoyed a lunch at a local restaurant before setting off again visiting the beautiful Xlendi bay before returning to the capital Rabat ( now Victoria) visiting the impressive Citadel where the views were spectacular. Returning back to the ferry and our hotel.

Long day, but very interesting, and excellent guide. Enjoyed seeing Rabat and Citadel. Nice lunch too.

Bryan_C, Apr 2025
This tour was to be 9 hours long per tour operator. They don't think you sell this tour to Cruiser. She let us off the tour in the middle so we can return to ship on time. We paid ferry and taxi to return to the ship. I wonder if you will refund the tour money. Best regards, Bryan and Eunice

An enjoyable excursion.

Roslynne_K, Apr 2025
I was promptly picked up by the bus at the meeting point. The guide on-board was full of knowledge with a good sense of humour. We visited the ancient Ggantija Temples, which were really fascinating. We then went to Dwerja and on to lunch at "Sea Shells", in Xlendi. The 3 course meal, with wine, was delicious and I enjoyed sharing experiences with fellow travellers, from all over the world. Walking around Rabat/ Victoria in Gozo was fun, as was the Gozo ferry ride. All in all, a fabulous day trip in Malta.

Gozo guided day trip incl. Ggantija

Patrick_W, Apr 2025
Enjoyed visiting the Ggantija Archaeological Park and the Citadel. I wish the tour guide would allow more time for us to take pictures. The boat trip in Dwejra is also good. We were just driving through Victoria and didn't have much time exploring the place.
