Itinerary

This full-day adventure begins with a departure from Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof. Meet the guide and the rest of the group and take a 1.5-hour ride west to Koblenz, traveling through the most famous section of the Rhine Valley, aka “the Romantic Rhine,” along the way.

The first stop is the historic Ehrenbreitstein Fortress on the east bank of the Rhine. Head inside the magnificent fortress to explore at leisure, learning about its history as a strategic defense building during the Napoleonic Wars and World War I. Then step inside a cable car and descend over the Rhine en route to the Deutsches Eck (German Corner), where the Moselle River joins the Rhine.

Upon arrival in Koblenz, enjoy some free time to wander the Old Town as well as the new city center. Shop, relax and admire the surrounding mountain scenery. Then visit a traditional German restaurant on the banks of the Rhine for a hearty afternoon meal.

The trip concludes with a return trip to Frankfurt.

Not what we expected, was just two of us in Mercedes with very nice driver, Peter. He showed us around Koblenze and was very helpful. Not sure the fortress was worth a special visit, but cable car and park were fine. Would recommend the trip, but if you know about battle emplacements the fortress is not particularly great.
