We really enjoyed the tour and Kieron was a great tour guide! He went out of his way to accommodate my mother on the last stop for a non alcoholic drink at the final stop. Amazing cheese, great tour guide and a lovely tour of a part of Edinburgh we wouldn’t have visited if not for the tour

What an interesting, unique, and tasty tour through the neighborhood. Our guide was fantastic. Completely worth making time for.

Excellent

Really fun tour with Xander. Tried several cheeses and had a nice glass of wine. Also had a great liver pate.

Thoroughly recommended

A great walking tour exploring different cheeses and areas of Edinburgh that would not be found by a tourist on their own

A lot of fun but needs more work on content and comfort

Leon_I, Nov 2025
Our guide was great, very enthusiastic and a good sense of humour. There were a number of things that couple be improved; 1. The tour only lasted 75 minutes rather than the 2 hours planned, 2. We had 3 stops for cheese tasting. The first was great but for the second and third we had to stand in the street outside to eat our cheese (nowhere to go in the cheese shop as they were too small). If it was raining there would have been a problem. 3. The cheeses were very samey, e.g. no goats cheese. 4. Information was quite limited. Having said all of that we did have a lot of fun. Basically the tour has a lot of potential but it needs a lot more work on the actual content and needs to be better thought through. You cant have people standing on the street cutting cheese, etc.

A great way to spend a couple of hours in a great city

Bob_C, Oct 2025
Great tour with Xander. Some very nice unusual cheeses (and some chicken liver pâté) with a nice glass or two of wine. Xander was knowledgeable and knew the local deli’s well. It’s a walking tour and mostly outside in a great part of Edinburgh. A fantastic way to spend a couple of hours in a great city.

Party in your mouth

Really fun little tour of three cheese stores, many cheese samples and a glass of wine! A sunny day experience!

Party for the Taste buds!

Akshata_M, May 2025
Our guide Jenny was very accommodating, provided us some good info on the cheeses included in the tour, the (white) wine paired with these options refreshing & light! Made some new friends along the way, tasted a variety of cheeses (Scottish, Irish, Dutch, Swiss, etc) absolute treat for cheese lovers! A win-win! Just one point to note: the meeting point is a little out of the way (from the Royal Mile) but hey, will travel anywhere for good food - cheese! ;)

Great little taste adventure

VickiAllardice, Jan 2025
Xander was a great guide taking us through some fantastic cheeses and some absolute gems in Stockbridge and Comley Bank!

So much fun!

Kati_E, Sep 2024
I found this tour randomly on Viator while searching for things to do in Edinburgh as a first time visitor and it was wonderful! I can’t say I ever considered cheese to be something significant to Scotland but, as a huge fan of cheese in general, this crawl is as equally delicious as it is interesting and informative. Kieran is such a sweetheart (who has curated such a thoughtful and lovely lineup of cheeses to sample) and we really enjoyed spending the afternoon with him. Highly recommend this really fun experience in Stockbridge!

Waste of money

Barry_B, Sep 2024
I had to cancel this event because IT IS NOT CENTRALLY LOCATED TO ANY PUBLIC TRANSIT NOR IS IT CLOSE TO ANYTHING ELSE CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL TO EDINBURGH. In my attempt to get a refund all I got was bounced back and forth between Viator the local vendor, neither wanting to assist with the refund until it was past the allowed time. All they wanted was for me to rebook the event, which didn’t solve my problem. Don’t waste your money on this event - there’s too much of Edinburgh to experience without this headache!

Lovely

Liz_S, Sep 2024
Jenny, our guide was lovely. She had a lot of knowledge about cheeses and the history of the shops we visited. It was a very nice stroll through Stockbridge.

Cheese Brilliance

Paula_R, Sep 2024
We enjoyed Jenny’s presentation on the walks and her knowledge of the history and background for the various cheese shops and cheeses. And of course the cheese selections were spectacular! Especially enjoyed the Alp Blossom with a lovely glass of wine.

Nice presentation.

Chris_R, Jul 2024
The cheese was interesting. The first stop was the best. The shop workers were friendly and explained the cheeses and other merchandise in the store.

A lovely way to spend a few hours

Alison_T, Jun 2024
Great tour with Jenny, a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Learned not just about the different cheeses but about the area too. Plenty opportunities to taste, chat and browse in cheese shops. A lovely way to spend a few hours.

If you like cheese this is a great tour to do!

Susan_M, Jun 2024
We went to multiple local businesses and had some wonderful and delicious cheese! It was a lot fun to try all the varieties. The day we went the weather was a bit on the cool side and most of the tastings were outside so dress appropriately! Our tour guide was very knowledgable!

Fantastic time tasting cheeses through the streets of Edinburgh

Stefanie_M, Jun 2024
We arrived to Edinburgh and, while most tourists would opt for a hop-on-hop-off or a city tour, we decided to ... eat cheese! And we had a wonderful time. Kieran gave us a great education about the local cheese shops and what makes their cheeses special. We tasted 7-8 different cheeses at 3 local shops and had a bit of a wine pairing at the last one. It was a truly delightful introduction to the city.

Amazing tour

Debbie_E, May 2024
What an amazing few hours with Xander as our guide discovery some lovely cheeses and getting the history behind them. It was a brilliant tour made all the more better by Xander who kept us al entertained with his wit and knowledge of all the cheeses. If you love cheese, this is the tour for you.

Stories and cheese

Robert_G, May 2024
Zander was a great host. Loved the energy, stories behind the chefs, and descriptions of the cheeses. Note, you will be standing most of this tour. Hygiene was probably the one thing that put us off. Please don’t talk/speak loudly over the tray of cheeses or at least put a cover over it. Gloves would be nice when cutting different cheeses in the park.

Too many people and not much of a tour

Olly_N, May 2024
Our guide was great; very enthusiastic with lots of knowledge about the cheeses. However, our tour group was far too large so that we couldn’t even fit into the shops at the same time and spent a lot of time standing around on the pavements. We were hoping for of an explanation of the history of Edinburgh, which we didn’t get. We did get to try some delicious cheeses but haven’t come away wanting to recommend this. Overall slightly disappointing; a tour with so much potential

Fabulous Fun Tour

Kim_M, Apr 2024
Very enjoyable tour which was both fun and educational. The cheeses were fabulous. Xander was a brilliant host and was both entertaining and knowledgeable.

Excellent and fun

Carola_G, Dec 2023
First: be aware, this happens outdoor. You stand on the street, comes rain or shine, and eat some cheese. You can't even visit the shops properly. The cheese wasn't too remarkable and not from Scotland, you learn next to nothing about cheese. You better go to a cheese shop and ask the Sales-Person for some recommendations, buy a bottle of wine and eat at home. That would be cheaper, better and more comfortable. The tour was totally overpriced.
