Itinerary
In the morning, meet your guide and coach at one of the central Dublin pickup locations. Grab a comfortable seat and enjoy the drive out of the city, passing sights not commonly seen by tourists. Then cut away from the city and take in rocky coastal scenery as you head into the Wicklow Mountains.
Your first stop brings you to Avoca Handweavers, Kilmacanogue. Enjoy a dose of traditional Irish culture, shop for fine handmade goods and have a rich cup of tea (own expense). Then re-board the coach and head into the Wicklow Mountains National Park and Sally Gap. View the park’s upper slopes, blanketed in heath and bog before stopping at Lough Tay ("The Guinness Lake") a true wonder and film location for "Braveheart."
Afterward, visit a traditional Irish pub for lunch (own expense). Relax, savor Irish home cooking, and sip on at a creamy Guinness before heading to your final stop on the tour: the glacial valley of Glendalough.
Throughout history, visitors have come to "the valley of the two lakes" for its mystical history, archaeology, and unique wildlife. The monastic city of Glendalough, founded in the 6th century by St. Kevin, was once an active locale featuring areas for manuscript writing and copying, an infirmary, guest houses, and a monastery. Now it offers guests a peek into Ireland’s rich cultural history. Enjoy a guided tour of its many historic sights, including the Round Tower, and have some free time to explore on your own.
After a full day out, board the comfortable coach and enjoy a free taster of local whiskey before starting back on the return trip to Dublin.

Our driver/guide, Jim, was very personable and interacting with him kept my rating at 4 stars. The tour as a whole seemed rushed and that may be due to stops & drive throughs I had not expected. I would have preferred additional time at Glendalough.
Philip_p, Apr 2026
Super trip with Jim, who was helpful and courteous and we were well looked after. Jim was extremely informative. Would highly recommend.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks a million for the kind words, Philip! Great to hear you felt well looked after. Jim will be delighted with your comments. Glad you enjoyed the day.

Ashley was awesome! Very knowledgeable and kind! The best tour guide I’ve had.
Thanks
Was fun and unique
Due to personal interests, the mountains and walk between the lakes didn’t give myself the feel and culture I was seeking in Ireland though. Not Ashley’s fault -he made it better
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks so much for sharing this! Lovely to hear Ashley made such a strong impression — he’ll be delighted. And we really appreciate your honest note too; everyone looks for something a bit different from their time in Ireland. Glad he was able to make the day enjoyable all the same.

We very much enjoyed the tour. Patrick was our driver and he made the trip so enjoyable. He shared a lot of great information throughout the trip and since it was raining, he offered alternatives to minimize being out in the elements.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Tracey, thanks a million for the lovely feedback! Great to hear you enjoyed the day despite the rain. Patrick will be delighted to know his flexibility helped keep things comfortable.

Thanks a million for the great review, Christopher! Love the “simply awesome” heading! John will be chuffed to hear his energy and stories made the day feel both fun and meaningful. Wicklow and Glendalough tend to do the rest alright and I'm really glad the day left such lasting memories for you.

During the tour we stopped at multiple places, including the Killiney Park, Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough.
All places were extremely beautiful, therefore Patrick, the guide, did an amazing job explaining the history of each place and entertaining us along the road.
I had an excellent experience and I recommend it for everyone willing to explore Ireland beyond Dublin.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thanks for sharing this, Paulo! Delighted you enjoyed the mix of stops and scenery. Patrick will be glad to hear his stories and road-trip chatter added to the experience.

Our guide, Patrick, was a wealth of knowledge and clearly cared about giving his tour group the best possible experience.
The weather was not favourable due to the 45 degree rain in the mountains but Patrick made sure we got the full experience by adapting the timings. A great guide 😊
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thanks for the lovely feedback! Patrick will be so glad to hear his care and flexibility stood out, especially with that tough mountain weather. Delighted the day still felt like a full experience

Cindy_H, Dec 2025
Patrick was a real sweetheart and wonderful guide. The tour started promptly with clear directions on meeting points, laying out the itinerary and timeline. He drove us around safely and made it a point to interact with everyone in the group throughout the day. He even gave out a shot of whisky at the end.
To no reflection on him or the tour agency, but a group on board were pretty oblivious/disrespectful by constantly running off far distances, getting dangerously close to cliff edges, not watching their kids, walking through when others are taking photos, and throwing stones into peaceful lakes. Please don’t be this group!
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Lovely to hear Patrick made such a warm impression and kept the day running smoothly and safely. He’ll be delighted to know his care and little touches, like the whisky, added to your experience. And thank you as well for the gentle reminder about group awareness; it’s always helpful when guests look out for each other so everyone can enjoy the day.

We spent a brisk cold day with Patrick. The tour took us through Wicklow, which wouldn’t have been possible without renting a car. Patrick was wonderful - funny, entertaining and loaded with facts about everything. The sites were lovely and worth a trip to see.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Elaine, thanks for braving that brisk Wicklow day with us! Patrick will be delighted to hear his mix of fun, storytelling, and fact-filled chatter kept everyone smiling. The Wicklow scenery really shines in any weather, and we’re so glad you got to experience those gorgeous spots without the hassle of driving. Thanks for the lovely review!

Easy way to take in views of the Wicklow mountains if you do not have a car. Beautiful Killiney hill walk early in the morning, Great coffee and scone at Avoca, Sally gap and Lough Tay were as beautiful as I had imagined them to be. The best part about the trip was our guide, one of the most knowledgeable person! He just knew everything to be known about the area! Highly recommended tour if you want a chill no car tour of the Wicklow mountains!

This was an incredible adventure and Ashley was amazing! Bonus: the bus was full of happy Steelers fans. Thanks for an awesome memorable day!

Good grief! This was the best tour we had during our whole vacation! The historical information was second only to the natural beauty. Can’t say enough good about Nile and Wild Wicklow.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Wow – what an amazing compliment! We’re delighted to hear this was the highlight of your holiday. Niall will be thrilled to know he made the experience so special for you. Thank you for choosing Wild Wicklow!
Keith_B, Sep 2025
This tour is a great way to visit places outside of Dublin you'd never expect to see on your own or with another tour.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Thank you for sharing this! Showing guests the sights you wouldn’t normally reach on your own is exactly what we love to do.
MARGARETANN_C, Sep 2025
Today was great because we've been traveling independently - to be taken care of for a day was relaxing. Our driver/guide Ashley is a top bloke and has extensive knowledge about social, environmental, historical and political points of interest, in addition to fascinating anecdotes about the places we visited. We had a stop for morning tea, a long stop for lunch and a nice lengthy stop at the lakes in the Wicklow Mountains. There was a lot of beautiful scenery to see today.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
We're delighted to hear the tour gave you a well-earned break from travel organising. Ashley will be so pleased you enjoyed both his knowledge and stories along the way. It’s great to know the pacing of the stops and time in the mountains worked well for you. We hope Wicklow gave you memories to carry long after your trip!
Dan_P, Sep 2025
An extremely entertaining and educational day. It was certainly a day I will never forget. Ashley is amazing.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Thank you, Dan! We’re thrilled to hear the day was so memorable and that Ashley made it both fun and informative. He’ll be delighted with your kind words. Wonderful that Wicklow left such a lasting impression!
Angela_L, Aug 2025
Ashley was a wonderful tour guide and made it very interesting and a lot of fun. It felt rushed and I would have liked to have seen more of Wicklow area.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you so much for your kind words about Ashley — we're delighted you enjoyed the tour! We understand you'd have liked more time in the Wicklow area — it's such a beautiful region, it's hard to fit everything into one day! I'm amazed other tours go on to Kilkenny after a very short visit to Wicklow, as there so much to see in Wicklow.
Victoria_T, Aug 2025
Mr. Patrick Gleeson made this trip and tour such a wonderful and memorable experience. I received some sad news before getting on the bus, but deciding to continue with the tour helped alleviate the initial sadness some. He took us through some beautiful sites in the Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough and was so knowledgeable. His knowledge of the histories behind the sites was impressive. The pub food was delicious and taking a moment to cheers with some Glendalough whisky was definitely a highlight. Thank you so much. May the road rise up to meet you.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you for sharing this heartfelt review. We're so glad that Patrick was able to make the day special for you, especially during a difficult moment. He’ll be touched to know his knowledge and care helped make the experience memorable. Wishing you brighter days ahead and we hope to welcome you back again someday.
Sachet_K, Aug 2025
Guide Patrick was great. All spots he stopped at were great! There was lot of chit-chatting across a group of passengers, but other than that the whole experience was great!
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you for your kind words! We're so glad you enjoyed the tour and that Patrick helped make it special.

Not a long drive and very informative. The Monastary was interesting and I like the many observation stops. It was a good experience just outside of Dublin.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Glad you enjoyed the tour
Katie_M, Aug 2025
Fantastic your!! Patrick was a phenomenal tour guide!!! It was so nice that this was a smaller group, and Patrick was great in showing us around while providing a lot of history and background - also was a great photographer so we could get pictures together! My boyfriend and I did 3 bus tours and this was our last, which ended up being perfect since it’s not as long as some of the other trips. Also LOVED that this tour included a stop for lunch so we didn’t have to pack anything.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Great thanks for such a positive review
David_E, Aug 2025
This is a wonderful way to spend the day. Ashley is very knowledgeable on so many levels. The sites are very beautiful. The avoca stop is really just a rest break but the rest is wonderful.
