Don't pay $600

Esa_K, Jun 2025
I would like to start by thanking our guide, Rodrigo, for the tour. He was friendly and patient. However, I cannot recommend this tour due to its disorganization, which I believe is the fault of Viator and our tour operator, Edwin. Each person's tour cost was $600, and the management was terrible. We had tickets for the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. Unfortunately, my partner wasn't feeling well and canceled, but our tour company said he could go directly to Machu Picchu. I agreed to complete the Inca Trail myself. After finishing, I found out that the Peruvian government changed the rule: if your ticket includes both the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, you must finish the trail to access Machu Picchu, regardless of illness or injury. I had been asking our tour operator for details over the past weeks, yet he provided no information, claiming he was unaware, despite being in the tourism business in Peru. Viator never mentioned the strenuous over six-hours of hike or ticket policies. Although I insisted, the tour company eventually repurchased our tickets for $50 each, but the process was a nightmare. Aside from paying for the tickets, they offered no assistance. Rodrigo stayed with us throughout, seemingly unaware of these issues. As a result, our tour company didn’t cover one of our tickets. The hotel breakfast was unappealing, consisting of a dry sandwich, a banana, and yogurt. However, dinner the previous night was delicious, and the Inca Trail lunch was satisfactory. The hotel in Aguas Calientes was decent, though warmer than Cusco, lacking a fan or AC. With the windows open, the noise made it hard to sleep. Despite these setbacks, the first view of Machu Picchu at sunrise with my partner and the Inca Trail hike were unforgettable. Nonetheless, both Viator and the tour operator failed to meet expectations. Both Viator and tour operator were acted incompetent and greedy. You guys are charging $600 for one person where it is literally a $200 service. That is mobbing. And saying sorry or apologizing doesn't work.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. However, we must clarify that the claims made in this review are totally unfounded and do not reflect the reality of our services. We pride ourselves on transparency and ensuring that all our customers have a smooth and enjoyable experience. It is disappointing to see misinformation spread, which can unfairly damage the reputation of companies striving to provide exceptional service. I reiterate again through this medium that we have always been in communication with the gentleman via WhatsApp. It is not fair for the passenger to say that we did not provide the information. In order to avoid any inconvenience, we provided all the information about the tour one day before departure, where the gentleman was surprised that he had reserved a train tour and did not want to do the Inca Trail, which we as an agency had already organized everything for. In the end, he wanted to enter Machu Picchu by train and without doing the Inca Trail, which is not allowed, and we provided a solution by paying extra admission fees with our own money for the gentlemen. also the first day we provided them bus from machupicchu to aguas calientes town and day 2 bus to machupicchu so the the third bus ticket is not included in our service and that is clearly stated in our inclusions. TripAdvisor, please pay attention to these types of misleading reviews as they may unfairly harm the integrity of honest businesses.

One of the best memories in my life

Book elsewhere

Saw this tour on your website, paid for it and then 2 weeks before departure tour operator contacted me to say he couldn't get tickets for Inca trail after taking my payment for this. Offered a trip around sacred valley instead and he could get tickets to entry Macha Picchu on day 2 of our trip, so he knew I couldn't get tickets anywhere else for Macha Picchu at that point so I had to accept his offer and lose out on inca trail section. avoid this company

Response from Host, May 2025

Good evening. Regarding the comment you made, it's not correct. The passenger was informed at the time of their reservation that there was no more space for the two-day Inca Trail, and they agreed to take another tour of the Sacred Valley at no additional cost. What's more, his daughter Kerry became ill on the day of their trip to Machu Picchu, and we were very flexible with them. We waited all day at their hotel, along with our guide and transportation, which had already been scheduled. The trip was scheduled for 8 a.m. and ended up being delayed until noon.

Once in a lifetime experience in Peru!

Dmitriy_G, Apr 2025
A wonderful experience navigating the town of Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu. Although there were some changes to the Inca trail part of the trip (because of an unusual demand surge that made the news), the team worked with me to provide an amazing experience showing me around the town including the thermal baths, local mountains and terrain, and helping me secure a ticket to Machu Picchu (included in price) and climb one of the world’s wonders. I will say the trip is somewhat physically demanding and requires numerous modes of transport to travel from Cusco to Aguas Calientes. However, the booking includes private shuttle and train tickets on a train with panoramic views of the most incredible sights. Jhimmy was one of the most knowledgeable and best tour guides I have ever worked with. 10/10 Experience.

Incredible Adventure!

John_G, Mar 2024
Although the trip was a little expensive, (they all are) it was worth every penny. Our guide Alfredo was incredible with his knowledge of the Inca and had a great personality as well. On a side note I spent my birthday there on a solo trip and Alfredo arranged to give me a birthday desert and song from the whole group and restaurant...A truly incredible adventure experience that I wish to remember for the rest of my life time.

Great Hike to Machu Picchu!

Haijun_L, May 2023
This was a great hike on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. Our guide Alfredo Cruz is an expert and very knowledgeable about Inca trails and Machu Picchu. The hike with Alfredo was not just a physical endeavour on the epic Inca trails, but also a series of lessons/discussions from him about the Inca civilization (practice, culture, theory, etc) and the great Andes. Unforgettable hikes with spectacular mountain view and intellectual exchange!
