What an amazing experience. Javier was a kind caring attentive and organized, keeping us motivated and well looked after throughout the experience. It was a physical and mental challenge over 4 days, but honestly was so humbled and motivated by the amazing team of Sherpas, Chefs, Porters and every single amazing human who works tirelessly throughout to make this experience possible and beautiful..thank you so very much!

Whilst visiting the Machu Picchu was an enjoyable experience, it was the 3 days hiking beforehand, which turned this into a memorable lifetime experience. It is perfect example of the value is in the journey and not the goal
Reflecting back onto what made this such a wonderful experience were three factors . Firstly our small team from Alpaca expeditions led by Saul and Henry . I am 60 years old and had apprehensions about the expedition but Saul was able to reassure that me that it was safe for me to undertake it . Saul was like a football coach encouraging all of us to push ourselves a little more . When a small number of us reached this limit , Henry made accommodations to the itinerary so that we reached all reached the same destination at the end of the day . Saul shared personal awkward experiences which helped us relate to him as a friend . He shared his knowledge of the Andean archeological sites , animals and culture which us connect with our environment . The food on the trip was exceptional and was prepared by German freshly every day . Finally the whole larger team at Alpaca expeditions were so well organised that journey to and from our pick up points , (our hotel ) , I was confident in where I was going
Secondly each individual members of our party made this a memorable experience. Alpaca expeditions may have have pared us with individual which shared a common language.
Thirdly the environment and culture which Saul helped us made a connection with , and the good weather

I underestimated the difficulty of all those steps at high altitude. I’m a female, almost 57 years old, doing the classic Inka trail with my 23 year old daughter and almost 60 year old brother. Alpaca Expeditions provides great service. The ready tents, quality food, rental gear and encouragement were all first class. The backdrop of the Andes is spectacular when you stop to look up. This trip is hard, we had some stomach challenges, and a squatty potty may haunt my dreams for a few weeks, but am I glad I did it - 100%. You can trust Alpaca Expeditions with your MP planning.

Such an amazing experience! Our main tour guide Romario, our second guide Abraham, our head chef Sebas, and all the porters were nothing short of incredible. I'm not exaggerating. There's simply no way our family could've made it without them. I'm confident Romario is the absolute best guide for the trek and all the archeological sites. His English, story telling, historical knowledge, passion, and attention to detail blew our expectations away. Everyone blew us away. The care, the meals, the thoughtfulness, the adventure was so great!

It was a really tough hike, but made so fun by the wonderful team:)
Our guide, Ricardo, was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable about the history and took the time to engage with us about certain spots on the trail. It was very interesting to have a background about what we were doing! He was also very kind and accommodating, always encouraging us to take our time on the trek and always checking in with us to see if we were feeling okay. He definitely made the experience memorable by being so fun and welcoming:)
The chef, Maximo, was AMAZING! I never would’ve thought I would have such good food while camping! We were looking forward to meal time most of the day! Maximo was also very accommodating of my gluten intolerance! I had gluten free cake, pancakes, pizza and many other options! He should honestly have a recipe book. The soups were beyond this world!
The porters were also super efficient and kind, helping us set up camp every night with a smile:) Even though there was a language barrier, they were always lovely and helpful.
As for the hike, it was very hard, but very well thought out by Alpaca Expeditions. The schedule is very smart, with good timing for lunch and dinner, and early wake up times. This gave us a chance to visit archeological sites, and take our time on the trek, without being too exhausted. We arrived at the sun gate early in the morning to see the sun rise hit Machu Picchu and it was fantastic! The fatigue really only hit hard on the final day, which was the easiest:)
The equipment was incredibly sturdy. The walking sticks were very durable, and gripped the wet and slippery terrain very well! The tents were very waterproof, we were not worried at all while a huge rainfall happened! The sleeping bags were also very warm.
The bathroom were also clean. The portable bathrooms for our campsite were always clean with toilet paper provided. The bathroom facilities along the trail were clean, however most of them had no seat and some of them were squatting toilets! It was very spooky as someone who never camped before, but it was very doable.
Overall, it was a great experience! It was super exhausting and hard due to the altitude, but we were very well taken care of by the staff :)

Absolutely incredible hiking experience with a brilliant guide and stunning food!
Hike was challenging at times but certainly worth it. The trip is well organised and the food was some of the best we had in Peru!

Amazing guides! We loved yoel (aka inka cola!) Amazing food. Super hard hike with beautiful views! You need to be optimistic and have the right mindset to do this. Early mornings! Take your time and stay strong! You can do this

Amazing all around. It was actually our first major overnight hiking experience and while it proved more challenging for us in our 50s than the rest of our much younger group, the efforts of the Alpaca team and the support of our fellow hikers allowed us to complete one of the most amazing trips and accomplishments of our life. The Inca Trail experience was amazing and Machu Picchu was the cherry on top. Tino was an amazing guide and we couldn’t have done it without him!

Legendary porters, guides and chefs. Highly recommend this incredible experience. The trek is tough but the crew made it enjoyable.

The group are very organised and run the tour like clockwork. Everything is thought of and communicated. Unfortunately due to illness we could only complete days 1 and 4 of the tour. However we were escorted out by a guide and assisted to make our way to meet with the group at Machu Picchu on day 4 to complete the tour and travel back to Cusco with the group. While we were with the group, the accommodations (tent, food etc) were exactly as described and very comfortable. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable. We were devastated to be ill (food poisoning from a meal before the tour) and not complete the hike however this is not uncommon and we were taken care of to get medicine and travel to meet with the group. I would recommend this tour and I hope one day we can return to Peru and try again.

My partner and I went on the 4 days/3 nights Inca trail hike to Machu Picchu with Alpaca expedition. We lucked out with having Rodrigo and Soledad as our fantastic guides! They were knowledgeable, informative, and caring.
We also enjoyed the delicious food prepared by the amazing cooks Eulogio and Alex!
It was a meaningful experience filled with challenging hikes and meeting others from around the world. I highly recommend it as a passage to seeing Machu Picchu.

Alpaca Expeditions led a life long memorable trip through the Inka Trail trek. Led by Liz Andro and Cipian, they helped us along the trek, told funny stories to keep it light, and took any pictures no question asked. Cipian even carried another hiker's backpack during a difficult portion of the trek without qualms.
Additionally, the porters and the chefs were excellent. The porters were always cheering you on and the chefs were able to whip up amazing food when you reached camp.
Thank you for the core memories.

It was a fantastic hike with a group of international hikers. Representatives from Alpaca expeditions were professional from start until the end. Especially I would like to mention the two guides Jaime and Jan Carlo who where enthusiastic, full of knowledge and able to communicate this knowledge in a very good manner. They also made sure that every participant in the group were taken well care of in order to reach Machu Picchu. The head porter Rolando with his group of porters did an outstanding job in order to carry heavy back packs from start until the end in order to facilitate our journey and lastly the Chef Mijael and his people managed to make exellent meals during the hike.
Unfortunately one of my family members got sick before the hike and could not participate. The Alpaca company facilitated another programme when she recovered including a trip to Machu Picchu by train where she joined our group and were included in the guided tour and lunch. Many thanks to the Alpaca company for their professional execution and handling of this amazing hike.

Jose and Nancy were the best guides ever. It was an unforgettable experience and we would not have been able to make it through without our amazing guides. Our group was awesome and the porters and chef were superstars! Go super hikers!
