    Poor Communication

    Abigail_B, Aug 2026
Humanatay Lake was beautiful, but definitely a harder hike than states. We weren't given a whole lot of information leading up to the experience and things were changed without much heads up. We were just kinda expected to go along with whatever they decided for us with less than a 24 hr heads up. We ended up switching to a different tour on day 2 because they moved our Machu Picchu trip without checking with us to day 3. We did a tour of the sacred valley, which was lovely, but felt very tourist trappy. We had very little time at all the sites and most of our time was spent being pushed to buy things from the many stalls lining each location. Macchu Picchu was by far the best experience, with a very knowledgeable and fluent tour guide, but we had quite a bit of miscommunication with the transportation. They also booked us for a train that made us an hour late for our tour, on purpose! The only reason we were even able to get in is because of our fabulous tour guide. Overall, the experience wasn't bad, but if I'm paying someone else to book all these things for me, I would expect a little more communication and better planning.

Good morning! Thanks for your review, but this tour doesn't include Sacred valley tour, we did an exception at last minute for you to change the Rainbow Mountain tour to sacred valley according to your request. We were trying to inform as much we could do, i am sorry if it was not enough for you.

    Amazing experience

    Jan_K, Jul 2026
Amazing experience for us! The tour operator sent us all information about the tours. The communication was easy and we had all details about the pick up times, guides and activities in WhatsApp. The organisation was perfect. In Macchu Picchu we had great guide - she told us many interesting information about the Inka culture, we had enough time to enjoy Macchu Picchu and Aguas Calientes. The tour operator also order better train with more comfortable seats for us. Humantay lake tour and Rainbow mountain tour were amazing too. Guides took care about us carefully and we had enough time to enjoy amazing places in mountains. We really recommend this tour!

    Avoid Libertrek like the plague

    MIRA_S, Jul 2026
tl/dr: Libertrek is a huge mess with terrible communication and worse customer service, I’d never work with them again, and I couldn’t recommend them to anyone else in good conscience. I use a travel company to make my travel quick, simple, and smooth, and Libertrek made my travel none of those things. Background: My friends booked their trip over 8 months in advance, I booked about 6 months out. We were very clear from the beginning in ever communication with Viator and Libertrek that we needed to travel together. This issues started about 5 months out: they tried to upsell us to the Macchu Picchu train with live dancing. The tour we bought listed departure and return times, and those were part of why we chose that tour despite having other options. By message, they threatened that we’d have to leave much earlier and return much later if we didn’t cave to the upselling. We contacted Viator and Libertrek backed off and said we’d get the price and times we paid for. We heard nothing at all after that. About 2 days before we arrived in Cusco we needed some details for planning, packing, etc. so I messaged Libertrek. They weirdly refused to send us details by message, repeatedly insisting we come to their office. We were arriving the evening before our first excursion and going to their office was I convenient. But because they wouldn’t provide info, I went straight from the airport to their office after dark. They made it very difficult for me to pick up my friends’ tickets and documents, but finally they printed them. And I, not their employees who had the booking for over 8 months, noticed that my friends’ train booking was for the WRONG MONTH. Basically my attention to detail on my friends’ tickets saved Libertrek’s butts: had I not waited forever and finally gotten them to print my friends’ tickets for me, my friends would have shown up to the train a month before their tickets were good. So Libertrek worked the next day and changed my friends’ train tickets to the right day, but apparently had to upgrade them to the nicer train car. Despite the fact they knew for 6 months we needed to travel together and it was THEIR MISTAKE THAT I CAUGHT, they didn’t change my seat. The Macchu Picchu tour was good, but the tour guide recommended a restaurant in pretty sure gave two of us food poisoning that prevented us from going to Vinicunca the next day. The train ride back was a disaster: my car had no air and no bathrooms (they were broken before we got on and PeruRail knew that). Then the train was stopped and delayed for about an hour. People opened the windows in my car because it was dangerously hot, so we inhaled train fumes for about 3 hours and I felt very sick. PeruRail did not communicate and do nothing to mitigate. Libertrek wasn’t tracking the train times, so when the train finally moved and I got service, I had to communicate with our pickup driver about the delay, Libertrek did nothing to help. Then I came down with food poisoning overnight and couldn’t go to Vinicunca. I asked Libertrek if they could just move me to the next day because of all of their previous errors and issues, and they refused to do anything to mitigate the general disaster of the tour package handling. I booked another Vinicunca tour for about $25 and they messaged me immediately and communicated well, a nice contrast to Libertrek. The tour guides and drivers were good. But it created so much work and stress for me to get to that point that I still would never use Libertrek again, especially given that there are literally hundreds of tour operators online and on every street in the downtown area that wouldn’t be so stressful and awful to work with. I’d recommend avoiding Libertrek like the plague. Once they have your money they don’t care about customer service/experience or communication.

Dear Mira. Thanks for your review. In the interest of accuracy, it is important to clarify the following: Unfortunately we couldn't do the refund of train tickets that you asked, becuase we provided the best train times although it was more expensive than the regular times included in the tour, our mistake was because they were 2 different bookings in different months, a member of our team did a mistake so we couldn’t provide same carriage in the train, we provide the rest of services together, same train time (only diferent carriage in the train, the other train was luxury, becuse spaces were sold out we couldn’t give you same train, consider that the luxury train was not included in the tour) you recieved the train you booked. It is incredible that you are holding us responsible for a meal that is not included in the tour. The guide recommended places at your request; obviously, he does not know what you might be allergic to or what might disagree with you, we don't take reaponsability of the food that is not included in the tour. About the Rainbow Mountain tour, we received the request to change the tour for the next day at 3 AM (1 hour before the tour start), that is why the person from Operations told you that it was posible to change with a low penalty for next day. We believe you are posting this review in retaliation for demands you made that we did not agree to, as we felt they were unfair. Thanks for the review it healp us to improve our Operations.

One of my best trips ever!

    Elena_S, Jun 2026
It was one of my best trips ever! I loved absolutely everything. Everything was very well organized and always on time. I would highly recommend this tour and this travel agency to everyone. Just be aware that it is better to be reasonably fit for mountain trekking, as the altitudes in Peru are high. When going on this tour to Humantay Lake and Rainbow Mountain, take it seriously and prepare in advance.

    Highly recommend

I had a great experience with Libertrek Peru Travel for the 3-Day Cusco Tour (Humantay Lake, Machu Picchu & Rainbow Mountain)! From start to finish, everything was handled seamlessly. I chose to book with them so all entrance fees, transportation, and logistics were taken care of—and it was absolutely worth it. They communicated with me ahead of time via WhatsApp, were always responsive, and sent clear daily itineraries so I knew exactly what to expect each day. I was also a solo traveler, and that made a difference—my guide always made sure I was okay, comfortable, and understood everything that was going on. Even though I could follow most of the Spanish, he would still quickly translate to English to be sure I didn’t miss anything. That level of attentiveness really stood out. A special shoutout to my guide, Joel, for the Humantay and Rainbow Mountain tours—he was excellent. He speaks very clearly and takes the time to enunciate, which made a huge difference. He explained everything in both Spanish and English, but honestly, I was able to follow his Spanish the entire time (I understand some due to Brazilian Portuguese). That’s rare for me, since many guides speak too quickly—Joel made it easy to stay engaged and informed throughout. For Machu Picchu, they made sure I was able to get the exact circuit tour I wanted, which I really appreciated. And when I decided to change my train time back, they quickly rearranged my pickup without any issues—super smooth and stress-free. My hotel was in San Blas on a narrow one-way street, and Joel even met me on foot to ensure I connected smoothly with the group for the tours. That level of care and attention stood out. Overall, I felt safe, well-informed, and completely taken care of the entire time. If you want to skip the stress of coordinating logistics and just enjoy the experience, I highly recommend going with Libertrek!

    Beautiful and spiritual

    Michelle_C, Jan 2026
Humantay Lake was amazingly beautiful. It is a tough hike but what made it harder was altitude sickness. I was very nauseated that day but there were mules halfway up which I chose to do and was able to see the beauty at the top. Brian our guide was concerned and helpful. Machu Pichu was beyond words and our guide Eric was not only educating us but fun to walk around with, 2.5 hrs went by so fast! We canceled our hike to rainbow mountain because my body just was not tolerating the altitude and this hike is a bit higher than the hike to the lake. I decided instead to return to Lima. It was a great experience I would just make sure to either acclimate for a few days first or start with Machu Pichu then do the other 2 hikes.

Well-Organized Tour with a Great Guide

It was an amazing experience! Our tour guide, Inti, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He explained everything in detail and was attentive to each of us throughout the tour. I highly recommend this experience!

    Save yourself the trouble...

    Wally, Jul 2025
Save yourself the trouble and money, take your business elsewhere. Not worth dealing with them. Unorganized and money hungry, they’ll try to trick you into upgrading to “luxury” train tickets.

    Incredible 5* service

    Amy_P, Nov 2024
5* experience from start to finish. The guide met us at our hotel the day before to issue us with information and tickets. Before each tour the tour guide gave us 5 minutes notice of pick up time meaning you are not waiting ages for collection. Absolutely fantastic tour but very long days. Great way to fit the main attractions of Cusco into a short period of time.

Excellent all-inclusive option to not worry about transportation and access to sites with included guidance

    Brenda_A, Sep 2025
Excellent tour, very complete. It is somewhat heavy in terms of schedules but it is totally worth it, highly recommended to know the 3 places without worrying about hiring additional services or necessary tickets, includes everything and that greatly facilitates the experience. It is only necessary to report at the established times.
