We were looking forward to our private boat tour around the Amalfi Coast. What a disappointment! First the boat looked nothing like was in the pictures. When we were walking to the boat and I saw which one was ours, my heart sank. It was very small and 3 of us ended up feeling queasy by the time we arrived in Positano. Second, I had corresponded with the tour operated and requested we go to Positano and have lunch. The TO said no problem and the captain would give us suggestions on where to eat. When we arrived in Positano we made arrangements to contact our captain when we were ready to leave in about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. He had no suggestions where to eat. We found a restroom and had a quick lemonade and we’re just starting to walk around when the captain called and said we needed to leave immediately if we wanted to go to the Blue Grotto. We had been there less than 30 minutes. It took us 2 hours to get there and we never got more than 200 feet from the dock.
Third, the description said there would wine, beer, and snacks. There was one bottle of wine, no beer, a couple cans of soda, and water for four people. He did provide some fruit. Since we had no time to eat lunch, we were all pretty hungry.
Fourth, we were in the boat for over 6 hours and we never were able to get in the water. Finally when we arrived at the blue grotto my son and his fiancé begged to be allowed to jump in. They were in the water about 5 minutes. I so badly wanted to get in the water as it was very hot. So now we are hungry, extremely hot, and anxious to get back.
I really feel like this was false advertising and you took my $1200 dollars laughing all the way to the bank. Would not recommend this tour.

Hello, I am so sorry to read about this experience! I did not receive a call about this, even after we were in touch before your excursion. It is the first time I am hearing of this and I am very surprised. I will clarify a few things for you and anyone else who is reading this. You were booked on the gozzo boat. A gozzo is an open boat with no cabin, a classic style of this area- known as the open sorrentine gozzo to be exact. It is the smallest type that is offered. The motor is also the smallest in respect to a speedboat with a cabin, restroom, etc.. Knowing that the Blue Grotto was a priority for you, when the skipper got word that the grotto would be closing early, he called you, as you were on land in Positano for some free time to explore and lunch. The Blue Grotto can close at any time without notice, as it is extremely small. To get into the grotto there are long lines, and you have to lay down in the rowboat as the local Capri boatsman pulls you through the mouth of the cave. That means even with small wave movements, it will close. If the skipper had not called you when he did, you would have risked missing the Blue Grotto, but the choice was up to you. Regarding beverages, there is also a bottle of wine on board, among other choices. We stock the boats based on the number of people there are, as boat fridges and coolers have limited space, which is especially true on the open gozzo boats-the boat that you booked. I'm so sorry it was not enough for you and I will look into the reason why there was no beer in the fridge because that should not have been the case. The excursion lasts for 6 hours. It is based on what you are most interested in seeing. But- I think what I am most shocked to hear is that your son had to beg to get in the water?? That certainly does not align with what a boat day is based on. Even reading all the other 5 star reviews that we have, everyone talks about swimming. I personally curate each excursion, so overall, I take all reviews quite seriously. I am very surprised with what I read today, and even more surprised that given how "hands on" I am with each client, I was not even contacted again after this excursion with any complaint. I will absolutely be investigating this further with the skipper that you had that day and will do what is necessary, if necessary, to make it up to you.

Perfect way to arrive in Positano is by a private boat excursion. My wife booked this for my birthday and it was the perfect gift for me. The excursion was breathtaking and our captain was nothing but friendly
