Lots of misinformation on...

Ana_S, Feb 2026
Lots of misinformation on your description of this tour. The tour was in a small van not a bus with a restroom as described. I was given 2 small bottles of water all day. No umbrellas at Chichen itza. I waited an hour for am transport. The tour guide was very friendly and the places were great but your description was much less than what I rcvd for $185.00

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that some aspects of your experience did not meet your expectations. At Tourballoon Travel Experiences, we are fully committed to quality, and the Chichen Itza & Cenote All Inclusive Tour, Taxes and Entry Included, is one of our flagship experiences. We would like to honestly clarify that on the day of your activity, we unexpectedly had to operate with a backup transportation unit, something that rarely happens, which explains the difference from the standard vehicle described in the listing. We always keep our communication channels open and ask guests to report any inconvenience during the tour so our team can assist and resolve it immediately. If we had been informed during the activity, we would have gladly stepped in right away to help and prevent any discomfort. We truly appreciate your positive comments about the guide and the destinations visited. Your feedback is valuable and helps us continue improving our service. Thank you again for traveling with us. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with the full experience that represents our usual standard in the future.

The tour was good...

Lupe_R, Jun 2025
The tour was good overall. One thing I will say is do not buy items from the visit to the Mayan town, they tell you it’s to help them but my gosh one bracelet 650 pesos equals to 35 US dollars is robbery. If you wait till you get to the ruines you get negotiate 3-4 of the same bracelets from 500 pesos. Yes thank you. The food could be better no flavor and sometime items like the flautas were hard as rock

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Thanks for your review. We’d like to clarify something important for future travelers reading this: The souvenirs offered by street vendors at the ruins are not authentic—many are mass-produced, and some even have “Made in China” printed on them. The products offered at the Mayan town stop are handmade by real Mayan artisans, and purchases from our designated store come with an authenticity certificate to prove it. Of course, buying is completely optional, but comparing handcrafted cultural items with imported replicas isn’t fair. Supporting true local artisans means paying a fair price. As for the food, we’ve already shared your comments with the restaurant to make improvements. Thank you again for joining the tour and helping us raise awareness about these details. Best regards,

It was a long full day of...

Hans_H, Apr 2025
It was a long full day of activities. Lot's to see. Excellent excursions to Tulum, Coba, the kuxkal cenote and Playa del Carmen. However, bring water and food for the morning, as the lunch is late, after 3pm

Response from Host, Apr 2025

We appreciate your review, however you booked with us the "Chichen Itza & Cenote All-Inclusive Tour with Buffet & Drinks" not Tulum and Cobá. Regards.

Not worth the money. Do it on your own!

Paige_P, Feb 2025
I gave this 2 stars purely for the misunderstandings. I love touring countries, but the pickup and drop off process was really long. The bus was freezing and when asked to time the air down it was a hard no. The guide was very sweet, but when we went to the different villages or tour the chichen itza, he dropped us off with a man who definitely was making things up and mixing up his history. I am not an expert and this was not a language barrier, the National Geographic website pretty much proved him wrong. With that, I toured the place on my own and read the various websites with my friends. The cenote was beautiful, but the Buffett was not worth it at all. The food was not good and it felt a bit dirty in there. Again, I get that it’s a totally different place and you can’t cater to everyone, but for the amount of money that I paid, it was not worth it.

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you sharing your experience. Regarding your concerns: The bus's air conditioning system is not individually adjustable, designed to maintain a consistent temperature throughout the vehicle. Our certified guides are experts in their field, providing historical and scientific information based on established facts. We are confident in their knowledge and the accuracy of the information shared. We have consistently received positive feedback regarding the buffet and the establishment. Your comments regarding the food and cleanliness are noted, but are not consistent with the feedback we have received. We asked you how your tour was going and you responded "Everything is good". We don't understand why you didn't tell us anything. We understand that travel times can vary depending on numerous factors. We aim to provide accurate estimations, but unforeseen circumstances can occur.

Bruce and Michelle

Bruce_M, Feb 2025
Loved the guides and the pyramid experience was terrific, the staff on the bus were very attentive. An excellent excellent experience.

Response from Host, Feb 2025

We're overjoyed to hear you had such a fantastic time! It's wonderful that you appreciated our team and found the pyramid visit so remarkable. We're pleased our bus staff contributed to your enjoyment. Thank you for sharing your positive feedback!

Excellent tour operator but poor local guide

CheCheng_L, Feb 2025
The communication with operators was excellent but the tour assigned us into a majority Spanish speaking group, and your guide mixed language hard to understand!

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you found communication with our operators to be positive. We want to assure you that all our guides are fluent in English. We will investigate this particular tour to understand how the language may have been a challenge for you.

Chichen Itza experience

Richard_K, Feb 2025
Long day, as listed. Make sure to confirm pickup is available from your hotel. Great experience overall.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We're glad you had a great time on the tour. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we strive to provide the best possible experience.

Roy_R, Dec 2024
Absolutely great experience. Tour guides very knowledgeable and took their time explaining the particularities of each spot. Would recommend.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to know that you had a great experience, and that you were able to learn about the sites you visited. We appreciate your recommendation and we hope to see you again in the future.

Not happening again

Billie_E, Nov 2024
This was fun for me but my husband (that only spoke English) struggled. We booked an English guide but despite the booking he could not understand most. Translation was spotty if at all.

Response from Host, Nov 2024

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to clarify and address your comments to highlight our commitment to providing exceptional experiences. Our team prides itself on offering bilingual guides who receive consistent praise from our guests. We have not received prior feedback indicating significant language barriers. Each guest's enjoyment and understanding are priorities for us. On the day of your visit, we contacted you to ask about your experience, and your response was positive, confirming everything was going well. This aligns with the feedback we regularly receive regarding our attentive service and clear communication. Our guides are trained to provide thorough explanations in English, ensuring all participants feel informed. Specific requests, such as an English-speaking guide, are always taken seriously and fulfilled. While experiences may vary, we stand by the quality of our guides and the structure of our tours, reflected in the positive feedback from our clients. Thank you again for your input, and we hope to welcome you back to show our continued dedication to excellence. Warm regards,

Plan B worked

Jim_B, Sep 2024
The guide at chicken it’s was amazing. We walked to locations, then he taught. Our bus attendants spoke very little English. They were warm and helpful. The bathroom stop required 5 paso’s to use, the fact needed was not disclosed prior to boarding. However, one of the bus tour guides has paso’s for you to use. The pickup point was challenging. All in all a memorable experience. I would enquire if the bus attendants spoke English first, before book this tour.

Response from Host, Sep 2024

Thank you for sharing your experience. We would like to clarify that all our guides speak fluent English and are trained to provide quality service to our international customers. We make sure that language is not a barrier to enjoying the tour. We appreciate your recommendation and are glad you had a memorable experience at Chichen Itza.

Cultural experience.

Richard_R, Aug 2024
1. Valladolid and pueblo maya was spectacular. I enjoy the chamal rituals. 2. The cenote was interesting until is time to eat. Their buffet was very chaotic. Customers was so desperate to get some food that at some point i decided to stop doing the line and eat some water melons. 3. Chichen Itza was above my speciations. We even had time to go to the Las monjas piramide.

Response from Host, Aug 2024

Claro, aquí tienes el mensaje corregido: Thank you very much for your review! Valladolid and Ebtún (the Mayan village) are indeed spectacular. The shaman ceremony is an important part of the tour, and understanding their rituals and cosmology is very interesting. We appreciate that you liked it :) The cenote is a beautiful and magical place. We are sorry about your experience with the buffet. We didn't receive any complaints from you or other customers, but we will look into it. Chichen Itza is so full of history and mysticism, and it's great that you visited the Temple of "Las Monjas." Not everyone goes there, but they definitely should! Thank you for highlighting that. Thank you very much for your nice review. It seems that you had a great experience, and we appreciate your words. Kind regards.

Upsetting

Tammy_Q, Jul 2024
I enjoy the tour but I have a few complaints. First of all I booked my tour with an English speaker and they spoke Spanish 90 percent of the time. They also stopped using the microphone when it was drop off time. I didn’t hear the tour guide say our stop. So I missed it . They handed me bus money and told me to take bus back to our hotel. I find that unacceptable . I paid for pick up and drop off at my hotel. I felt unsafe where they had us get out. We ended up taking a taxi back that cost us 500 pesos.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to clarify that it is the client's responsibility to get off at the designated stop. Our guide fulfilled their part by announcing the stop and providing the necessary information. We regret that you did not hear the announcement, but it was a kind gesture from our team to provide you with money for transportation back to your hotel. The pick-up and drop-off service was correctly fulfilled, but it is essential for passengers to pay attention to the guide's instructions to avoid any inconvenience. We appreciate your understanding.

Historical & fun

Louise_B, Jul 2024
Excursion was excellent from start to finish, transfers went smoothly air conditioned the coach driver lilo was very pleasant indeed -the breakfast box was very good a nice touch when leaving so early in morning our tour guide Hulio was brilliant very informative and funny nothing was too much trouble the visit to mayan village was very interesting even being blessed by the shaman, cenote swim was excellent also the Mexican buffet lunch we didn't feel rushed atoll and our ticket included everything no extras to pay , chichen - itza was fabulous our guide was very good at answering every question on the history , it was a long day however well worth the early start would highly recommend Thank you for a great experience *****

Response from Host, Jul 2024

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the experience. It is gratifying to see that the process was smooth and that the driver was very friendly. We appreciate you highlighting the breakfast, the guide, and the visit to the local community. Thank you for recommending us and for your kind words.

A lot of wasted time

Sherri_p, Jun 2024
The cenote and Chichén Itzá were amazing to see. But felt rushed because too much time spent at a “village” where you were pressured to buy from their market. We had an all inclusive and you would get a choice of water, beer, soda or tequila shot with lunch but that was not the case. You only had a choice of juice. The guide gave a lot more information in Spanish than he did in English. When someone called to complain, instead of making the correction he complained to the entire group about it and was rude the rest of the trip.

Response from Host, Jun 2024

Thank you for your comments about Chichén Itzá; we're glad you enjoyed the site. We would like to clarify that the beverages you mentioned—water, beer, soda, or tequila shots—are exclusively available on board the bus. During lunch, only one beverage is included. Regarding the guide, we have reviewed the situation and have video footage showing that he was speaking simultaneously in both languages. Best regards.

Too much pressure

Truc_P, Jun 2024
The tour was okay. Everything was short and rush. We got 45 min to eat and swim in the cenote (including changing time). While the time at the souvenir place is way longer. I didn’t like the fact we got pressure into buying things because they make commission on it. And then pressuring us to give tip because “their living is depending on it”. It’s fine to ask but they were using the “guilt trip” talk (ex. Saying it’s a sin if we don’t tip). Overall, will we do it again? I don’t think so.

Response from Host, Jun 2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and would like to address your concerns directly. Firstly, our customer service team received no notification from you during the trip about any issues. Our agents always tell customers they can contact us anytime to report any inconvenience. Immediate reporting allows us to address and resolve issues on the spot, ensuring a positive experience. Regarding the timing, our itinerary clearly states the duration of each activity, including the time spent at the cenote and the souvenir place. The time allocation balances relaxation, exploration, and cultural immersion. It's important for our guests to understand the schedule beforehand to avoid any surprises. We also want to emphasize that none of the other travelers from your bus complained to us. Our guides are trained to provide a respectful and enjoyable experience. We do not condone any form of pressure tactics and take such accusations seriously. The suggestion that our guides used guilt trips or inappropriate comments is concerning and will be investigated. We aim to offer an enjoyable and stress-free experience for all our guests. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve our services. We hope you might reconsider and give us another chance to provide the quality experience we are known for. Best regards,

Not so great!

Annie_A, Jun 2024
People were great! The route was terrible. Also they don’t tell you Chichen Itza really closes at 4:30 and we didn’t get there til 3:30 so the main thing you go for you don’t hardly get any time at! The guides were great though! I would never do this tour again though. Rent a car and go out there yourself!

Beautiful Sites!

Stacey_H, Jun 2024
The cenote, Chichen Itza and buffet was amazing. It was a very long day and extremely hot. The boxed lunch in the morning was definitely sub par., I also thought we would get our tour in English, the guide wasn’t great at saying things in English.

Response from Host, Jun 2024

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the cenote, Chichen Itza, and the buffet. We appreciate your feedback about the boxed lunch and the language of the tour. We're sorry to hear that these aspects did not meet your expectations. Your comments are valuable to us and will help us improve our services. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future. Warm regards.

Never showed up

Beverly_D, May 2024
The tour company never showed up to pick us up. After an hour, I was able to get in touch with someone who said the bus broke down. Not sure if that was true or not. Still trying to get my money back. I would go with another tour company!

Response from Host, Jun 2024

We have already explained the situation to you, and these were circumstances beyond our control. Additionally, we have processed your payment. If you haven't received it, you should complain to Viator.

Best tour I have been on

Jennifer_G, Apr 2024
The tour staff was wonderful. They were knowledgeable and took good care of us. We stayed plenty hydrated and they gave everyone Gatorade when we arrived at Chichen Itza. I wish would would have has another 20 minutes at the Senote. We had enough time to eat and swim nut not shop. The tour time at the other stops was just right. The coach was comfortable. Just a fantastic day all the way around.

Response from Host, Apr 2024

This is off resort experience you have been looking for.

Kairee_H, Apr 2024
Lilly was a great host! Very informative, funny and conscious of the multiple languages in our tour group. The unlimited package was WELL worth the price. Drinks were never empty and it was a looooooong day. 12 hours by the time we got back. Water soda, all the beer... We got to see way more of the local culture on this trip, and learn about the Mayan people and Lillys knowledge was paramount to that.

Response from Host, Apr 2024

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us and that Lilly made your day a memorable one. We strive to provide exceptional service and offer an enriching experience that includes both fun and learning about the local culture and history of the region. We look forward to seeing you again on future adventures and continuing to share unforgettable moments together. Thank you for choosing us and for sharing your experience! Best regards!

Lilly and the crew are awesome. We learn a lot about the history and have fun. The bus was great, pick up on time.

Response from Host, Apr 2024

We're thrilled to hear that you had a wonderful experience on your tour. It sounds like Lilly and the crew did a fantastic job of sharing the history with you in a fun and engaging way. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back on another tour someday! Sincerely,

Good experience.

Ravi_V, Apr 2024
Chichen itza was awesome, but the tour felt very rushed. Tour guide could not speak much English, but the crew was overall very accommodating and friendly.

Response from Host, Apr 2024

Thank you for your comments regarding your visit to Chichen Itza and the experience with our team. We're glad to hear you enjoyed Chichen Itza; it's indeed a magnificent site that we're proud to share with our guests. It's also great to know our crew's effort to be accommodating and friendly was noticeable and appreciated. Regarding the pace of the tour, our schedule is designed to ensure guests can experience the full richness of the site within the time constraints that we face. We aim to balance thorough exploration with the need to adhere to a timetable that accommodates various logistical considerations. As for the tour guide's English proficiency, we select our guides based on their knowledge of the sites and their ability to engage and inform our guests. We haven't received any complain about that in years. We are grateful for your feedback, as it helps us refine our offerings. Thank you for choosing us for your visit to Chichen Itza, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again with an even better experience.

The entire tour was...

Faisal_F, Mar 2024
The entire tour was amazing and our tour guide was especially helpful making sure my daughter and I were taken care of and understood everything as we were the only English speaking two on the tour!

Response from Host, Mar 2024

We're absolutely thrilled to hear you and your daughter had such an amazing time on the tour! It means the world to us that our guide went above and beyond to ensure you both felt taken care of, especially given the language differences. We always strive to make sure every guest feels included and well-informed, so it's wonderful to hear we succeeded with you. Your kind words are greatly appreciated, and we'll definitely share your feedback with our guide – they'll be just as happy to hear it! Thank you for choosing us for your adventure; we hope to welcome you and your daughter back for more unforgettable experiences in the future.

Somewhat disappointed

Marianne_C, Mar 2024
We enjoyed the places the tour went as well as the bus itself. Staff was pleasant and well organized. Only downside was that the main guide spoke mostly in Spanish with some English thrown in. It was very difficult to follow what was going on in regards to instructions and general information. The trip is advertised as English so I felt he should have been speaking mainly in English. I spent the first several hours trying really hard to follow along and finally gave up.

Response from Host, Mar 2024

Our certified tour guides are well-trained and capable of providing a good speech in Spanish and English languages (simultaneously) with no issues at all. No one on board reported a complaint about it. This statement is a mere assumption which lacks on foundation and can't be taken as valid on our end. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the destinations we visited and found our staff pleasant and well-organized. Regards.

Mixed Review

James_N, Mar 2024
The staff was great and tour was just ok. Our tour guide spoke English and Spanish but he spoke mostly Spanish. I missed a lot of the experience because I did not know what they were saying. Also beware, there is a lot of pressure to buy souvenirs and tip

Response from Host, Mar 2024

We sent Viator video proof that our Certified Tour Guide speaks in both languages, and he is capable to provide his interesting speed along the trip with no issues. No one else has a complaint about this in years. You wanted a refund, which was rejected. We are at your orders for a further clearance of this case. Kind regards.

Scammed Out Of My Money

JeanMarc_B, Mar 2024
They don’t pick up from some hotels, you have to find your own way, which is additional cost, by the time you realize it, it’s too late for a refund. I missed the trip because they picked a different pick up location other than where I requested, but it’s in the email somewhere so I have to eat the $250 USD, never again

Response from Host, Mar 2024

We want to let you know that every point you mentioned is specified in the product, which is why it's very important to read every detail to avoid misunderstandings like this one. Point number 1: It is specified that if your pickup is not at your hotel, but at a nearby meeting point, you are responsible for getting there. As it is mentioned, "If you were provided with a meeting point, you are responsible for finding the appropriate transportation to reach the given place, which, in most cases, is within walking distance." You can find this disclaimer in the "Pickup Details" section. Point number 2: Regarding the refund, it is also specified. If you take the time to check where it is, you will see that you can find it in the "Cancellation policy". It is the only policy we have, so it's easy to find. This is what it says: "For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the start date of the experience." It is worth noting that we always send the pickup information immediately after the reservation is made, via email and WhatsApp/SMS. It is the customer's responsibility to be promptly informed about where their pickup has been assigned. In cases where this is not followed, there is no right to a refund, especially if requested within 24 hours prior to the experience. Therefore, it is very important to be informed and read carefully and thoroughly every detail of the tour. Best regards!

Site visits great, upselling upsetting!

Rubi_H, Feb 2024
Locations were great. The up-selling to ONE location was ridiculous. And the food was mediocre at best. Anyone who would have purchased anything at that ONE location would have felt ripped off because at the actual Chichen Itza site, things were almost 300 percent cheaper!

Response from Host, Feb 2024

The difference is that our crafts are made by the Mayan artisans themselves and not brought from China. Best regards.

Well worth every minute and nickel! :)

MICHAEL_L, Feb 2024
We loved the guided tour of Chichen Itza. Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. We also really, really enjoyed the Cenote swim! It was a long and tiring day but very worth every minute.

Response from Host, Feb 2024

Thank you for your review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the guided tour of Chichen Itza and the refreshing swim in the Cenote. We strive to provide memorable experiences, and we're thrilled to know that every minute of your day was worth it. We look forward to welcoming you back on future adventures!

This is a must tour

Deborah_F, Feb 2024
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history and lives of the Mayan people. The driver was superb at maneuvering the narrow village roads.

Response from Host, Feb 2024

The fact that makes us unique is that we're not resellers, we are providers working with native Mayan villagers, humble workers with heritage who share their authentic knowledge of our most valued goods, which are you. Thanks for sharing your experience with us and our future travelers. Kind regards

Chichen Itza is worth visiting!

Craig_W, Jan 2024
Chichen Itza was of course fascinating and worth seeing. The cenote was pretty cool as well. The downside for us is that the tour guide was a native Spanish speaker and while he spoke in both Spanish and English, the English speakers definitely got the short end of the stick. He would say a whole paragraph in Spanish and then like one sentence in English. This is not a criticism, just a reality, so it was hard to really understand a lot of what he was saying. Otherwise, the bus was very comfortable and our hosts very professional.
