Nice atmosphere. The host was knowledgeable about the wines he chose. He provided a map of the eine regions in Romania and chose wines from different regions. The pours were generous and a charcuterie board was provided. We were given ample time to enjoy each wine.

Fabulous evening. Our first night in the city. Relaxed atmosphere. A range of Romanian wines (five in total) and a delicious cold meats and cheese platter. Our host gave us lots of information about the wines, grapes and regions. Highly recommend.

This was easily the nicest bar I visited in Bucharest. Not at all touristy. I was the only one doing a tasting but that didn't detract from the experience. Was given interesting explanations for each wine, then allowed time to enjoy them while nibbling the generous portion of cheeses and cold meats. If I was a local, I'd be a regular in this bar. Book this experience, it's a couple of hours well spent.

I was given a warm welcome, then poured a lovely selection of Romanian wines from native grape varieties. It was a great introduction to varieties and regions I previously knew nothing about, but will certainly be looking for in the future! The tasting was two hours, although I'm sure I could have stayed for longer if I had wanted. I was encouraged to take my time trying the generous servings along with a nice selection of cheeses and meats. This is well worth booking if, like me, you love wine but are not familiar with Romanian wines.

My husband was not feeling great, but the tour was very accommodating of the time changed. When we got there, he was still not feeling well so we ended up leaving without the cheese and wine tasting. To make up for it, the owner accommodated and offered make up days but we didn’t have any free time. Overall, we appreciate his compassion and understanding and gave us a couple bottles of wine that we didn’t get to taste. Very nice of him!

It was a fabulous experience with a beautiful selection of wines and excellent customer service. Selection of cheese, bread and chutney accompanied the wines which was an added bonus. We felt welcomed with some mellow music to set the tone. We would definitely go again! 2 of us attended.

Cozy atmosphere and a great host! Dario was incredible in presenting the wines. Food they offer to pair with wines is amazing and ranges from variety of hams, cheeses and a delicious bruschetta! Wines they present are carefully chosen and satisfy any taste!

Overview of Romanian Wines

Abel's Wine bar is in old Town and was a quaint small venue. Our guide provided an overview of the wines, regions and varietals. Learned a lot and the selections were good. Cheese and meat platter contained some local cheeses/meats along with international ones. Our only word of "warning" was it was 5 full pours and not little tastings! But, we struggled through 😀 they also did not rush us at all, so we enjoyed a very leisurely afternoon. We were also able to buy a bottle to enjoy later

We tasted five Romanian wines; each one was different and every one was excellent. We were given plenty of time to savor the wines and accompanying food, and to chat with the other attendees, all of whom were wine lovers like ourselves. We go to many wine tastings, and this was one of the most enjoyable we’ve ever experienced. Highly recommended!

We booked the wine tasting experience after reading reviews. We wanted to get a better understanding of Romanian wines and culture and it didn't disappoint. We were warmly welcome and enjoyed a two hour experience of Romania. The wines we tasted were from different regions of Romania and from small reserved casts. Each were different and was accompanied by a generous cheese board. We had time to relax and enjoy the wine and speak with the others people sat around us which was very interesting. I would recommend two things to further improve this experience. Don't have two groups overlapping as this was distracting and became noisy as one group were merry and interacting whilst the next new group was wanting to listen to the start of the experience. The other is to offer the purchase of the wine we tasted.

Hello Steve. Thank you for your review. Unfortunately the space inside is small and in the weekend is a high number of reservations. We do the best to manage all in different times,to don’t have more than 10 persons per session,that help as a lot to dedicated more time to every single participant. Unfortunately I repeat,in the weekends we have a big number of requests,that’s why you see other clients starting a wine tasting when you finish that. Thanks again 🍷

Tasted two reds, a rose and two whites - all premium quality wines which showed off different grapes and wine regions in Romania. Would happily buy all of them if I could get hold of them in the UK. Paired with a generous and delicious cheese, salami and ham plate and an excellent overview/ description from the bar host.

Enjoyable few hours trying different Romanian grape varieties. We had 2 white, 1 rose and 3 reds. Our host did a nice job at explaining the region as we got to each bottle. 10 people in attendance so a bit difficult to have detailed conversation. Cheese plate was excellent.
