This is a great tour to take as soon as you arrive in Bucharest. The host, Cristian, is very knowledgeable and organized. He didn’t just walk us around pointing out landmarks—he came prepared with a photo album that brought the history of many of the sites to life. He’s also a great conversationalist. By the end of the tour, I felt like I had made a real friend in Bucharest.

Had a fantastic tour of the main highlights of Bucharest with Mara.. She made the tour very informative, highlighting important/interesting sights with stories and photos. She also provided a good historical perspective. Tour was well paced and we saw all the major attractions. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful tour with Cristian!
I was almost certain my tour would be canceled since it was scheduled for the afternoon right after one of the worst snowstorms of the season. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a message from the company that morning confirming the tour, along with clear meeting instructions and Cristian’s contact information.
Cristian was fantastic. He kindly agreed to conduct the tour in Romanian and tailored the experience to match my interests. He took great photos, shared fascinating “unwritten” history about București, and introduced me to hidden spots that would have been difficult to discover on my own.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!

This was a very informative about the history of Romania from its years of communism to the present day democracy. Elena was extremely knowledgeable, charming and witty. She spoke English well and was very easy to talk with. Along the tour she shared personal experiences that made for a more informative tour. She is a proud Romanian and proud of her country. You can’t go wrong taking this tour and ask for Elena if she’s available.

Mara was outstanding from the beginning to the end. I learned everything from Bucharest during its communist period, all of the important buildings in the city, history of gypsies and Transylvania etc. I felt I learned so much in a 3 hour period. Anyone wanting to learn about Bucharest, look no further than Mara. I wound definitely recommend this tour to anyone.

A great tour. Our guide on the day was Elena who was excellent. We were contacted the day before to inform us of meeting location and time.
The tour was done at an easy pace with Elena providing information throughout the day. Plenty of stops along the way and we got to see lots of interesting things/locations.
It's worth having a small amount of local currency on you so you can visit the The Romanian Athenaeum at the end of the tour.
