Knowledgeable guide provided insights on this amazing medieval city. We enjoyed the boat tour as well as the walking tour. Wear good walking shoes and enjoy the chocolate! I recommend chocolino, just off the belfry square

The tour was excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to give us some historical perspectives regarding the different sites we were visiting in Bruge. The bus was very luxurious and comfortable. We had plenty of free time to shop or explore on our own.

Shame on you

Sandra_N, Nov 2025
First of all i always chose Viator when traveling because thay have best tours and service. This time in a cruise i had best affordable options but i oreferred to pay 120 EUR instead of 60 EUR cruise, because Viator is better. I was traveling in a MSC Cruise. We had a rough day at high sea but the next day when we arrived to Rotterdam weather was fine. I had seen that storms were expected but i trusted Viator to cancel a 6 hours walking tour if weather was not suitable. At 5:50 pm captain informed us that due to severe conditions dhip was not going to stop in Zeebrugge. I imediattly called Viator both guide, US services and using chat channel informing that we could not take exvursion. 16 hoirs before. I got the message that the 300 EUR were not beeing refunded as 16 hours was less than 24 h notice and cruise changes were not covered. I think this was mean, we understand the terms but we did what was possible and most of all it was a matter of saphety. Did the tour either boat included took place if it was not safe? Are you keeping our 300 hundred EUR and lose a limg kasting customer. Shame on you. You just took profit of what you know beeing unexpected and out of control situations. Dont take Viator. They were not honest. And they asked us for our opinion in this tour!!! Teasing us!

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Please note that we adhere to a strict 24-hour cancellation policy, which applies regardless of cruise itinerary changes. More details are available on the Viator website. You may wish to address your refund request to your cruise line or travel insurance provider. Safe travels.

Brugge Was All We Expected.

Walking Brugge was the best way to see. Charlene told us great stories and lovely meaningful sites. Planning to come for a longer stay.

The taxi driver to Bruge...

arnoldresnick824, Aug 2025
The taxi driver to Bruge was a terrible driver almost getting in an accident by not looking. The walking tour was slow and repetitive and we did not get to see any museums. Guide was average. I would not recommend that Viator use this company again- they can find better options.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Are you sure your review was posted to the correct business? It’s possible that the ports or tours were mixed up — which can happen easily when cruisers are visiting many destinations day after day. Please note that we do not use taxi drivers; all of our tours operate with coaches or minibuses. This tour itinerary does not include museum or other interior visits. In addition, all of our guides are certified professionals, serving thousands of cruise passengers each season. We kindly ask that you double-check your booking details, and we’d be happy to assist if you have any further questions.

Good tour

Ron_P, Jul 2025
This was a good, mid to large group tour. The guide was on-time, friendly and knowledgeable. The tour included good sites and information. We enjoyed it overall.

Great Trip

Jane_L, Jul 2025
Excellent Guide. It was pouring down rain but we definitely saw all of Bruges. Had enough time to taste the local delights and shop for Chocolates.

A Shuttle would probably be better than this

Kurt_P, Jul 2025
Tour had a lot of walking and we were with an elderly person and they could barely keep up. The tour guide did not speak English well and offered very little useful information. We had very little time to embrace the sights. When we arrived at the canal, the tour guide and canal operator had a huge fight and we had to wait 20 minutes after the tour was in limbo. It was the worst tour I have ever taken.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

We regret to hear that our tour did not meet your expectations. To avoid discomfort for elderly participants, we strongly recommend reading the tour description carefully before booking. It clearly states that the tour includes approximately 2 hours of walking through the pedestrian areas of the city. Gabriel is a fully licensed guide, fluent in both English and French, with 16 years of experience leading tours. The “huge fight” and wait you mentioned were not reported by anyone else in the group. According to your guide, the main source of dissatisfaction appeared to be the very limited walking ability of your family member, who unfortunately was unable to keep pace with the group and was often left behind. When booking future tours through Viator, we strongly recommend reviewing the tour descriptions in detail and basing expectations accordingly. Safe travels

Bad Tour Operators. Will ripped people and with take advantage of what they have not work for.

Lillibeth_S, Jun 2025
Operator had ripped us off of what we paid. In case of force majeur and bad weather and ship wasn't able to dock. No passengers to tour around. They won't refund. Don't book from this.

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Your refund request has been declined in full accordance with our 24-hour cancellation policy. We recommend addressing your claim directly with your cruise line, as your ship was the only one to cancel its call to Zeebrugge at the last minute on June 23, for reasons unknown to us. Other cruise ships had no issues docking, and their passengers joined the tour without difficulty. Wishing you safe travels

Mark_B, Jun 2025
Our operator was very informative and interesting. She also told us the best places to get chocolate, waffles and lace. Great tour!!

Cruise Port Tour

Kathleen_B, May 2025
Rip Off Not 1 but two dead batteries on head sets. Guide didn't care. Wanted us to pay extra 30 Euros on top of $250 original change. So we had to wait on dock for tour to come back.

Response from Host, May 2025

We regret to hear about your disappointment however, we would like to clarify a few points: • Your headset was replaced within a minute of reporting the issue, so we’re surprised to hear it described as a “rip-off” or that the guide didn’t care — since our guides always carry spare headsets • The optional lunch during free time was offered to the group, and the majority chose to participate at an additional cost of €15 per person, paid directly to the restaurant. There was absolutely no pressure to join, and certainly no intention to mislead anyone. • Lunch has never been included in this tour, as clearly stated in the tour description. We kindly encourage you to review the inclusions of this tour on Viator website. We wish you safe travels !

Brugge is a beautiful city but so many of us tourists! Lots of walking on tour. Guide very informative!

Is not a hop on hop off...

DANIEL_N, Apr 2025
Is not a hop on hop off tour, requires ability to walk for about a mile but tour guide did a good job

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Luckily, this is not a hop-on hop-off tour, but a shore excursion for cruise passengers from the Zeebrugge cruise port - It seems you may have posted your review to the wrong business. Safe travels!

Great tour of Bruges!

hyatth, Oct 2024
We loved our guide - a sweet elderly gentleman. He was very knowledgeable and interesting. The tour was just the right length with a decent amount of free time. Highly recommend.

Beautiful little town.

Jennifer_B, Sep 2024
The overall tour was great. However; she never told us her name and she was distracted early on because there were two late people that never showed. So distracted that she talked with the taxi driver the whole time into town. When we asked a question she said she would tell us in town. She never did. Overall it was a fun beautiful day. Also the tour was an entire walking tour and I don’t think people who signed up for the tour understood that.

really enjoyed

Hana_E, Aug 2024
The city is very beautiful, the guide was excellent, the trip left on time and returned on time, we really enjoyed ourselves

Great Tour

Cindy_K, Jul 2024
Loved our tour. Traveled with a large group and everyone enjoyed our tour. Thank you for the great time

Amazing tour

Irene_S, Jul 2024
I loved the tour with our tour guide Theo. It was super informative and we got to see the best spots in Bruges. Super pretty city, and even more interesting tour.

Loved it

Kent_H, Jul 2024
Amazing place. It’s a must if you are i. The area. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helped us find the best waffles, fry’s and chocolate. She was very nice and knowledgeable.

It could have been a good tour…

Rachelle_G, Jul 2024
We were really excited for this tour. Our group consisted of young and old people. We have had our fair share of excursions but never experienced such rudeness. Our primary tour guide was very rude and unsympathetic from the start. When we arrived she seemed annoyed at our group and the other group that also had elderly people ..although we were a few minutes late we felt the whole tour that she was scolding us because the elderly people sometimes couldn’t keep up. It would of been appreciated if she was more compassionate to older people. Upon going back to the cruiseship ..as my aunt and uncle were boarding the bus, the bus driver started the bus and started to drive very roughly. They almost fell and both were walking with canes. I would not recommend this tour to anyone. Worse excursion I have ever been on.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

We appreciate your feedback, and we're sorry to hear about your disappointment. Allow me to address your concern: Your guide may have seemed that because the additional section of the tour description clearly states that this tour involves significant walking and is not accessible to wheelchairs, scooters, or those with limited walking ability like you and your travel companions. While we respect elderly individuals, we highly recommend considering others with limited time ashore and avoiding booking such shared experiences with walking mobility restrictions. As per our policy, we could have simply refused your participation in this tour. However, out of respect for older individuals, we made an exception, which unfortunately resulted in this negative feedback. We will carefully reconsider such situations in the future. Safe travels!

Nice/informative guides, but disorganized

Jessica_S, Jun 2024
The tour operators and guide were very nice and informative, but the tour was a bit disorganized. There weren't enough listening devices for everyone on the tour, and for those that had them, the sound quality wasn't great. If you weren't standing next to the guide, all you heard was static. The guide was super smart, but he walked too fast and didn't have an identifier (like an umbrella or flag) so when you lost him, it was hard to find him.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

Thank you for your kind words about the operator and your guide. Let me address your concern: While there were enough headsets on this tour and no technical issues were reported by anyone except your lovely couple, the challenge arose from your limited walking abilities, which hindered your ability to follow the tour pace. The additional information section of the tour description explicitly states that this tour involves significant walking and is not suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility, such as yourselves. We recommend that you consider the limited time available to others during onshore visits and avoid booking shared experiences with mobility restrictions. As per our policy, we could have declined your participation in this tour. However, out of respect for elderly guests, we made an exception, which unfortunately led to this negative feedback. We will take this into consideration moving forward. Safe travels!

Top-notch!

Irina_B, Jun 2024
Our trip was really amazing. It had everything:comfort, fun, and exploring new things. Our guide, Luc, was patient and interesting. He answered all our questions and even suggested great places for lunch and shopping during our free time. It was a wonderful experience!

Our favorite day of all of our cruise excusions

James_S, Jun 2024
We initially were scheduled to port at LaHarve but were re-routed to Belgium d/t a worker's strike. What serendipity! Bruge turned out to be our favorite stop on our cruise. What an amazing city. We spent several hours walking around the city with our tour guide learning the history of the city and were given 2 hours in the city center to walk around and eat and shop for delicious chocolates. Bruge is called the Venice of the North and It truly looks like a fairy tale.

We had an amazing time

Debra_S, Jun 2024
We had an amazing time on this excursion. The pick-up from the port was smooth and convenient. Our guide Mark was excellent, showing us the best of Bruges and sharing fascinating stories. The restaurant he suggested was amazing—the food quality and prices were a nice surprise. The more we travel in Europe, the more we feel like our friends who live there part-time. We highly recommend this tour and guide.

Poor Logistics Added Easily Avoid Stress to What Could Have Been An Amazing Tour

David_G, Jun 2024
Summary (for those who dont need details): Our ship made an unscheduled stop in Bruges which over whelmed the tour operators and Logistics fell apart. We were told to get on the wrong bus and missed what would have been a great tour. Details: We scheduled a viator for Bruges. As we exited the ship, there was no one from the tour to direct us where to go. We asked around and were told to take a bus to city center which we did. No one from the tour was there either. We called viator and were informed that we took the wrong bus and missed our tour. They did contact the local operator who called 2 hrs later to try to tell us where to go. Nice but too late. As we were touring on our own, we ran into another viator tour and tagged along. Nice of them to let us join an interesting tour of a beautiful city. I ran into the viator coordinator when I returned to the dock. She was very nice, apologized and explained that she was the only one in the morning and must have been taking another group to the correct bus when we were directed to the wrong bus. I understand she can't be in 2 places at once but how about a sign: "Viator Folks Wait Here". Bottom line: I would definitely visit Bruges again. Taking a Viator at unscheduled ports or a port with a tender (meaning leaving the ship ontime Is not assured) has more risk than I like adding to my vacation. Otherwise I like the viator option.

Response from Host, Jun 2024

David, we have already informed your wife, who posted a 1-star review 2 days ago blaming communication, that your party was the only one missing on the morning of June 7, 2024, from 197 of your fellow cruisers booked with us from Regal Princess. Please understand that by rating this tour 1 or 2 stars and blaming communication or logistics, you are rating not our services but your own ability to complete a mission consisting of three simple tasks: 1. Checking your email and phone after booking 2. Reading the provided pick-up instructions 3. Proceeding from your ship gangway to the pick-up point on time. You are right – it could have been an amazing tour if you had followed these three steps, but you: 1. Appeared at the terminal half an hour after the tour departure 2. Instead of using the provided emergency phone number, decided to find your own way to Bruges by "asking around" 3. Did not have service on the phone number provided at the time of booking. 4. Finally joined one of our groups but, instead of acknowledging it was your own fault and thanking us for all our efforts and help, left us with two negative reviews. Thank you for your kind words about our coordinator. She didn't have time to explain to you that in some ports, Viator has hundreds of suppliers working. Imagine the chaos if all of them held signs saying "Viator Folks Wait Here." To avoid such messes, tour operators are instructed to hold signs with their company names for shared tours or the last names of guests for private tours. But we agree - the most gifted cruising individuals should avoid any risk by booking overpriced and crowded ship tours. Safe travels!

Awesome Tour

Deborah_F, Jun 2024
This was a nice pace walking tour with plenty of free time to shop and eat. We were picked up at the cruise port. Guy was our guide who was fantastic.

Tour description misrepresented.

Michael_B, Jun 2024
This was a walking tour. Not advertised that way. Bus only into town and back out. Had to walk the entire tour, through cobblestone streets. Not easy

Response from Host, Jun 2024

We regret to hear that our tour didn’t meet your expectations. Let me briefly address all the concerns raised: 1) This isn't a walking tour, as it would take a good walker 3 hours one way to walk to Bruges from Zeebrugge cruise port. 2) According to “Additional Info” section of this tour description “this tour requires significant walking, which makes it inaccessible for wheelchair or scooter users as well as those with limited walking mobility” such as yourself. 3) The walking part doesn't take up the entire 6-hour tour; it's around 1.5 to 2 hours in the pedestrian part of Bruges 4) We highly recommend reading the tour description before booking any product Safe travels!

Poor communication

Beth_K, Jun 2024
Communication from the operator did not come to my phone until AFTER the pick up time. We showed up 45 minutes before our tour and the bus had already left. We missed the coach entirely because we did not have reliable phone and Internet since we were on a cruise ship. Then we called Viator asked for a refund and we were denied. To add insult to injury, we had to Pay for our own taxi into town.

Response from Host, Jun 2024

We regret to inform you that out of the 197 fellow cruisers from the Regal Princess who arrived in Zeebrugge on June 7, 2024, and received the same instructions 36 hours prior to the start of the tour, you were the only party that missed the tour. If you booked the activity online two days in advance and expected the pick-up instructions to be delivered via DHL or carrier pigeon right onboard your ship, please note that we rely solely on the internet, exactly the same tool you used to book this product. It remains unclear what kind of special internet restrictions you encountered during those 36 hours. We suggest you contact your internet service provider or device manufacturer for assistance. Alternatively, if you simply forgot to check your email and messages or expected the operator to greet you right at the gangway with a huge sign ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ please do not place the blame on others. Instead, we encourage you to take responsibility and learn from this experience, which will benefit you in your future travels and in life in general. Safe travels!
