Mr Andrew - a super addition to your Great Wall trip!

Mr.Andrew from Leo’s Private Tour was a fantastic host for our trip to Jinshanling Great Wall. He was punctual and friendly, with a beautiful car that was clean and comfortable with reclining seats - perfect for a nap after a very early wake up call! He assisted us (in both English and via WeChat) in buying tickets and navigating the map of the wall and walked us to the cable car to ensure we found our way. While we climbed the mountain, Mr Andrew waited 4 hours for us before we returned safely to Beijing City. We really enjoyed our day at the Great Wall and Mr Andrew made it even better!

Great day out. Our driver Peter, had limited English, but was incredibly helpful with tickets and making sure everything ran smoothly for us. We were in Beijing on business in the winter, but had all our cold weather gear and had the Great Wall virtually to ourselves in December -3C temperatures. The wall at Jinshanling is awe inspiring and just takes your breath away seeing it climb into the distance on the steep and picturesque Simatai section. In the distance. We did a nice loop up onto the wall and covered a couple of kms before heading down a nurture trail. The organiser, Leo gave great info and communication and was immediately on the case to help with any issues. Great service all round.

We booked this tour through Viator and had a driver named David. He spoke english almost fluently and had a keen interest for history. He was very service minded and aided us though all practical details we needed and picked us up in the lobby of the hotel. It was interesting to talk to him on the drive to and from the wall, and he was happy to share his knowledge and opinions on things we asked curiously about. The trip was splendid. To be driven to one place and walk the wall to another and be picked up there was the best way to experience the wall. During this trip you walk on sections that are very well restored and sections that are more natural read: not restored and pretty much in ruins. However no art of the wall was in so bad shape that you needed to be concerned about it. On the contrary it was exciting to experience the wall in different kinds of conditions. You really got the feeling of walking on historic ground. Both the starting point and the arrival point has been building up ticket offices, cafes etc and are really being upgraded to handle more visitors in the future. We could not have had a better day on the wall. You need to have some minimum of physical condition to walk the distance. It is not very far, but it takes longer than you think because of all the steep climbs, but it is definitely worth the effort. We didn't find it too hard. In fact we loved it! We had nice weather and brought some picnic stuff with us.

Der Mauerabschnitt ist wunderschön. Da er weiter außerhalb von Peking liegt, trifft man nur wenige Besucher - unser Fahrer Jimmy war sehr nett, wir haben einen sehr schönen Tag mit ihm verbracht, auch das von Jimmy empfohlene Restaurant war top !!
