The great Wall is a great attraction, but this tour is not. 4+ hours to the wall and another 3+ back to Beijing. Forced shopping stops and no cable car ticket is not worth the $50 USD it costs. Find another tour or simply hire a car for the day
Great communication from the company - they rang the night before to confirm hotel pick up time. Chan was our guide and spoke very good English. His guidance and explanations through out the day were excellent. Unfortunately I did feel he took more time with the Chinese tourists than he did with the few English speaking tourists on the coach.
The great Wall was amazing - it had been snowing so snow covered the wall beautifully. The lunch was good and due to a minor accident on the way home which delayed our bus from leaving the wall for 1.5 hours, we were dropped back off at our hotels. Which was a bonus.
Great tour for the price - cannot be faulted!!
I found this last minute on the day before the tour itself. Value for the service is great, for the transport, guide and lunch. Don't expect a Michelin stars one but it was decent after the walk. guideNancy was really helpful and spent as much time needed with everyone who needed help. Only one star missing for the information about the wall which was shared but could be more to understand the history behind this great place
Visiting the wall was such a great experience with amazing views. I loved that we were told the various ways to get to the wall and left to do as much or as little as we wanted in the 3 hours before meeting for lunch. Going to the top by cable car cost extra but it saved about 1000 steps! The food at lunch was really good and plentiful.
However, the day did not start off very well as we had the meet point changed. We had confirmation for meeting at the Hilton but atb10pm the night before a phone call said the Novotel. We rang the guide and he said Hilton but in the morning an email said Novotel! Not a good start. We text the guide to tell him we would be at the Novotel. He turned up about 30 minutes late. At the end of the day we were encouraged to get off the coach to take the metro home although the tour content stated hotel drop off. We did not take up his offer of the metro and so a taxi was arranged for us and 2 others to go to our hotels. Not good service to be offloaded because traffic was building up and they didn't want to spend the time doing hotel drop offs.
This was a really good tour and great value for money. There was a slight mishap in that we did not know our pickup time had changed as no access to email and so we actually missed our day, but when I phoned we were able to join the next day. Nancy was really informative and gave the tour in both English and Mandarin so we did not miss anything, as well as giving tips for the rest of our stay in Beijing. This part of the wall did not feel crowded compared to other tourist sites we had been to, so we were able to fully appreciate it without feeling overwhelmed. Lunch was really nice and worked really well considering the number of people on the tour.
We did choose this option based on the overall package different pick-up locations entrance fee included, lunch included and NO stop at jade or tea shops.We had a very busy weekend as we did the trip on April 30th - in the middle of the May 1st holidays in China. Nevertheless pick-up was almost on time at the subway station Dongzhimen - with a 5 min walk to the bus. The bus was OK and fully booked. Only small letdown was the not functioning loudspeakers. We were at the very last row and did not catch a single word from our guide - but not a big thing. We arrived after ca. 2,5 hours and could then stroll around for ca. 4 hours at the Great Wall - very impressive and an absolute must if you travel to China. We took the cable car - boarding was easy with only 5 min waiting time although the wall overall was pretty crowded that day. We used our time well and walked a lot on the top of the wall. After 3 hours a lunch was served - ok, but nothing special. The way back was ca. 3,5 hours as the roads were pretty busy. For 45 this was an excellent options - we could recommend!
The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall was amazing and certainly lived up to it's high reputation and the allocated time to hike the great wall was more than enough. The free inclusive lunch was at a restaurant which served good food, drinks were not included though but no big deal. Overall, very good time!
Our guide was stressed and her English was not understandable at all. Beacuse of that we never understood what was going on or the information she gave us. She just dragged us out of the bus, back on the bus and yelled at us for not understanding her. At least the food was alright
Well organized day tour, and very well planned regarding schedule of the day. Comfy bus, and nice guide, though it would be helpful if he could work on his diction and public speech. Was a bit challenging to understand important information he had to deliver.
