- The Summer Palace is open daily all year round. However, the on-site museums—accessible only with a combined ticket—remain closed every Monday. For visitors planning a 2-hour visit, a standard ticket will be more than sufficient.
- Please scan the QR code we have send to you at any of the main entrance to get into the Summer Palace.
- Senior is free of charge, but you have to show passport with your date of birth on the spot and explain to them yourself.

Tickets were provided well in advance, making the whole process seamless. We could enter through any gate, just by scanning the QR code at the turnstile. Super easy! We didn’t use the guide so cannot comment on that. The Summer Palace itself was very pretty - we enjoyed the walk around the lake more than the buildings area by the north gate.

We were picked up at our hotel by Su Debin. Although he spoke little English we conversed through a translation app. He was really great alerting us to landmarks as we drove. He dropped us off and helped us with entry into the Summer Palace. Once we finished touring he met us at the exit and then took us by the Beijing Olympic sites Berds Nest and the Cube. All in all it was a great overall experience. Thank you Su Debin.

Allen was our tour guide for visiting the Summer Palace and we couldn’t have wished for a better person. He was very competent, he taught us a lot about Chinese history and he was very kind and patient with our questions. The summer palace is a beautiful place.
Note that on Mondays while the garden is open some of the attractions & museums on site are closed.
But if doesn't mean they won't prevent from you to purchase access to all attraction even if you cannot use them

We went to the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven with Sherryli. What an experience! Sherry was very knowledgeable and made the tour very engaging. We are so glad we managed to go and learn some Chinese history. We would definitely recommend Sherry!

I selected the option for hotel transfer, and my driver was early and very prepared. He communicated clearly (mostly using a translator app) and made sure I had everything I needed before entering the summer palace. Zhen was kind and helpful.

They’ve sent me a corrupted file, which the QR code did not open. I questioned them, asked for help and they only answered me almost 2 hours after the expected time of my visit, with another file that would not open. By the mean time, I ended up buying in the ticket office by myself, to make sure I would not loose my tourism day. When I questioned them and Viator, they refused my refund request. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Viator and even more the operator

I booked this tour a day in advance and chose the private option, which was fantastic and made the experience feel truly personalized.
I arrived quite late, but my guide waited for me patiently, which I really appreciated. My day had started off badly, but my tour guide completely turned it around.
The session was very informative, and I loved having one-on-one photo opportunities at our own pace. The area is huge and difficult to cover in a short time, so it was great to have someone guide me through the top highlights.
I really enjoyed the tour and received excellent recommendations from my guide on where to go next.
The summer palace is as beautiful as the Forbidden city and I highly recommend this visit .

I did not expect to have a personal driver for the day, and a former tour guide at that! Li Qingshan was excellent, bringing me to the Summer Palace, and offering to go to the Great Wall. I didn't have time for that but when we came back into Beijing we made a brief stop at the Bird's Nest and Olympic park, and then did a tea ceremony too! He really impressed me with his historical knowledge and was very excited to share his city with me.

I couldn't redeem the tickets on the viator app. It said the provider will email them. The provide sent them on the day when we were already out and I had no access to wifi. So I had to buy new tickets.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience with this tour. We were picked up directly from our hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned car and dropped back off afterward, which made everything so convenient. Our guide, Lucy, was outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke excellent English. We really enjoyed chatting with her throughout the day. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Was able to get the reserved admission ticket through an e-mail after booking through here. I received a QR code with my name and passport number. I booked for the entry ticket on 6th March, received the QR code sdmission ticket on 7th March for entry on 9th March. I was able to get into the summer palace with no issues whatsoever.

Very nice tourist azttaction. Entering to forbidden city is a bit tricky. We first entered to tiananmen square and from there we could enter the forbidden city.

There is absolutely no point at all in buying tickets to the Summer Palace at very inflated prices on Viator beforehand. You can very easy buy tickets at any of the gates and they speak English. It’s very easy and a fraction of the price.
