The cliff path Le Matinelle and the Bay of Gruccione

Puglia's coastal walks tend to deliver scenery alone, but this one along the Le Matinelle path near Trani also checks off several points of natural and historical interest. Hike along a cliffside trail that passes sandstone walls where bee-eaters (a colorful species of bird) nest in late spring, pause in the Le Conche pine forest to spot dinosaur footprints, and end at Torre Olivieri, a 16th-century watchtower above the Adriatic.
