A simple, self-guided adventure. Kayaks are taken across a small area to sea glass island. From there, you’re given a rake and a bag. You get 2 hours to collect glass and kayak back. Simple and fun.

We had an amazing trip to Sea Glass Island. Shawn and Jeff were excellent tour guides andthe sea glass is beautiful. Thank you!

Unfortunately, our tour was to start at 4:30pm, but our guide didn’t make it until an hour and 15 mins later. We had to call to find out where our tour guide was. They had to send someone else to get us started who wasn’t a tour guide and didn’t show up until 4:53. Then we had to wait for him to get the kayaks ready which was another 20 mins. We didn’t get any kind of tour whatsoever. No explanation of anything. Just kayaked about a quarter of a mile to the sea glass beach which we were at for about 20 mins then headed back to shore. Sea glass beach was disappointing. You won’t find anything worth while there. Took no more than an hour from when we started kayaking to finish. Our actual guide showed up at around 5:50pm saying he was stuck in traffic. We were very disappointed. To us, this tour was not worth the price whatsoever unfortunately. And we have loved every other tour we’ve ever taken on Viator so we didn’t expect this unprofessionalism.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely apologize that your tour did not begin at the scheduled time. We understand how frustrating delays can be, especially when you have planned your day around a specific schedule.
As explained on the day of your tour, the guide was delayed due to unexpected traffic. While we take responsibility for the late start, delays can occasionally occur due to circumstances beyond our control.
To avoid canceling your experience altogether, we immediately sent another member of our team to begin preparing the equipment and ensure your tour could still proceed rather than asking you to wait until the guide arrived. We felt this was the best solution to make sure you were still able to experience Sea Glass Island.
Our Sea Glass Island tour is a self-guided kayaking experience rather than a historical or narrated sightseeing tour. The destination itself is the main attraction, and guests are given time to explore the island and search for sea glass before returning.
We’re sorry that Sea Glass Island did not meet your personal expectations. Many guests enjoy searching for sea glass and appreciate the unique experience, but we understand that individual expectations and experiences can vary.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the delay and will continue working to improve our operations to provide a better experience for future guests.

The island was beautiful but your guide was an hour late and clearly just woke up and hung over. He spoke very little to us. We had to call twice to see what was going on as we were at the spot sitting and waiting. The tour company apologized to us but the guide did not and barely spoke at all when he did it was obvious he was hurting which make me nervous that he had my one teenager in his kayak since the water was so choppy they insisted on doubles and we were a husband wife and the kids so the oldest went with him. The island was gorgeous and fun but maybe pick another company or call if they’re not there on time right away don’t wait like we did to give the benefit of the doubt 15 mins. We had another tour in the afternoon so only got to spend 1 hour instead of 2 hours that it was supposed to be since he was late. We did request a partial refund and hopefully they honor that but we will see.

Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize that the tour started later than expected. While we take responsibility for the delayed departure, there are many operational factors that can affect a tour’s start time, including traffic, logistics, and the timing of prior tours.
However, we do need to address one statement in your review. Suggesting that the guide had “just woken up” or was “hungover” is entirely unfounded and is simply not accurate. We understand that a delayed start can be frustrating, but making assumptions about a team member’s condition without any factual basis is unfair and misrepresents the situation.
Regarding the time spent on the island, you were welcome to remain longer. The tour was shortened because your group needed to leave to make another activity you had already scheduled. We understand that timing was important to you, but your own prior engagement ultimately limited the amount of time you were able to spend at the destination.
We’re glad to hear you still found the island beautiful and enjoyable, and we appreciate your comments. We continuously work to improve our operations and value constructive feedback grounded in the facts.

This was a lot of fun for my family and I! Our tour guide was very kind and knowledgeable! We will be bringing home more than memories thanks to the glass island.

I’ll try to keep this as short as possible, but this was a fairly poor experience. I do not know the names of the guides because they never introduced themselves so I’ll refer to them as Guide 1 and Guide 2. My wife and I get to the meeting point about 15 minutes early and was told that Guide 1 forgot the “diggers” and had to go back and get them. He returned about 15 minutes late. Guide 2 was nice and friendly and did all the interaction with the group while Guide 1 was totally focused on his phone (maybe the big game was going on, I’m not sure but he never engaged with anyone in the group). Guide 2 helped everyone into the kayaks and gave us instructions on how and where we were going. When we got to the island, Guide 2 helped us out of the kayaks, handed us the “diggers” (hand rakes) and told us to dig for glass (blue and pink were the rare ones) and we could keep the glass and rocks but not the coral and shells and be back in an hour and a half. As everyone was dispersing, someone ask where the glass came from and Guide 2 told us that it was basically waste from an old military base. Guide 2 walked around and interacted with us some as we dug up old broken glass while Guide 1 stayed glued to his phone the entire time. I would not do this again and do not recommend.

Thank you for your feedback.
We would like to clarify a few points regarding your experience. One of our guides did briefly return to retrieve additional equipment before the tour began, which resulted in a short delay. We apologize for that inconvenience.
Regarding the use of a phone, our guides often use their phones during excursions for operational purposes, including communicating with transportation providers, coordinating upcoming tours, monitoring weather conditions, handling reservations, and ensuring guest safety. While it may have appeared that a guide was disengaged, that was not the case.
As you noted in your review, the second guide provided paddling instructions, assisted guests with launching and landing, explained the activity, answered questions, and interacted with participants throughout the experience. Sea Glass Island is intentionally designed as a self-guided exploration where guests are given time to independently search for sea glass and enjoy the island at their own pace rather than participate in a heavily guided tour.
The history of the sea glass on the island is well documented, and many guests enjoy the unique opportunity to search for pieces that have naturally weathered over decades.
We respect that this experience may not be for everyone, but we believe your review overlooks the assistance, instruction, and supervision that were provided throughout the excursion. We appreciate your visit and wish you safe travels.

On time and very professional, had a lovely time, very informative, very friendly, enjoyed it a lot. We were 60+ age wise, and they were very respectful and helpful.
Perry_K, May 2026
Extremely helpful guides. They took special care in having my wife kayak with Jeffrey as the tide and winds were strong. Jeffrey and Richard were very accommodating. Would highly recommend using their service!!!
Jennifer_I, May 2026
Different and fun. Heavy on the glass digging and not enough kayaking. Guides were great. Do not do if you are not somewhat fit, kayaking in Aruba's wind is no joke. Also walking on the island if you don't have great balance would be hard.
Cynthia_S, May 2026
Are guides were very experienced and knowledgeable. My nephew likes to collect rocks, and loved searching for sea glass!! Highly recommend for something different and fun to do on the island!
Scott_H, Apr 2026
Great change of pace for beach vaca, staff are nice and very helpful. Kayaking was easy to get to glass island
Cathy_K, Apr 2026
Jeffrey was beyond words helpful. I had broken my wrist prior to going to Aruba but didn’t want to miss this opportunity. Jeffrey made sure I got to the island and back safely. I was a passenger princess and didn’t have to paddle! Water to drink and baggies to collect the glass was provided. After we returned back to our starting point, Jeffrey went above and beyond by walking us to his favorite little fresh seafood restaurant. He ordered for us and made sure they removed the heads from the red snapper. It was soooo good along with the shrimp. This young man is very good at his job and the experience was something new and different! Highly recommend giving this a try! I don’t think you will be disappointed! FYI you can take the sea glass off the island!
Donna_B, Apr 2026
Kayaking over to the island is fairly easy and not too far, be prepared that you will get wet. A bag is provided by your tour guide to put items in so they do not get wet. Once you are on the island, it is covered with sea glass and rocks, I highly recommend reef shoes as flip-flops are not the best to walk around the island. There is plenty of beach class to collect and your tour guide will give you water. If you are driving, there is plenty of parking available. Jeff was are tour guide and he was pleasant, friendly and helpful.
Jeremy_P, Apr 2026
A hidden gem that even the locals don’t know about. Guides were super helpful and was amazed by the amount of glass, so cool.
Jessica_B, Mar 2026
This was a wonderful experience. Our guide set us up, gave us great instructions and brought us to a wonderful little island full.of sea glass. He gave us the history of the sea glass and let us meander on our own. The guide was wonderful. Highly recommend!
Eldon_C, Mar 2026
The guides were nice and helpful, and sea glass island was good, but I wish there was more kayaking involved in the trip.
WilliamB, Mar 2026
Be prepared to be amazed and chill out like a kid again. The paddle across the water to the island is just the beginning. Sea glass everywhere. Our guides were very understanding and we appreciated being picked up at our hotel.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you so much for your amazing review!
We love how you described the experience—“amazed and feeling like a kid again” is exactly what we hope every guest feels out there! 🌊✨ From the paddle to the island to finding sea glass everywhere, it truly is such a special adventure.
We’re also so happy to hear our guides took great care of you and that the hotel pickup made everything even smoother.
Thank you again for joining us—we hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!
mike_w, Mar 2026
Sea Glass kayaking was excellent. We choose to kayak out to the island, rather than taking the boat. Kayaking was very easy, and we saw turtles! On the island, the sea glass was easy to find. We found a lot of different colors. Kayaking back to the mainland was easy, and we saw more turtles.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review!
We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed kayaking out to Sea Glass Island and that you got to spot turtles along the way—that’s always such a special bonus! 🐢✨ It’s great to know you found plenty of sea glass in different colors and had a smooth, enjoyable paddle both ways.
We truly appreciate you choosing to adventure with us and hope to welcome you back again soon!

We arrived on a cruise ship and found that the public bus system would be more complicated than we had planned so we found someone to take us (one way) to the tour meeting place ($30). The guide was on time and took six of us to the sea glass island in a boat (raining hard and windy though 4 of us were willing to paddle the kayaks). There was a TON of sea glass! Mostly shades of green, brown and white. The guide didnt explain the history of the island and why there was so much glass. All in all, the tour was as described
Rose_S, Mar 2026
Our guide Curly was very helpful and gave us valuable information on how the island came about, I am a big sea glass collector and enjoyed it very much.
Jennifer_H, Mar 2026
This was a good tour. The guides were late following some car problems. It was a touch disconcerting at the time. However once they arrived it was efficient and we were launched and to the small barrier island. The entire island beach was mostly glass. Hand rakes and sandwich bags were provided. Most of the glass was green or clear but you could also find some red and blue. Even with the late start we had the full time on the island and nothing was skipped to make up time. Overall it was a nice outing and I enjoyed spending time by the water.
Kristin_G, Mar 2026
This was one of our favorite experiences in Aruba. Curly was amazing! 🤩 thanks for a great morning!

Four of us were picked up by Rich, in a dirty Nissan truck, fenders off, no horn…. Etc. He motioned us over and had nothing to identify himself as our guide. He sped from ship to sea (about a 25 min ride,) in 15 min! He passed cars continually and drove at 87mph cutting across roundabouts on the bumpy no driving part. This was on a main road with traffic and roundabouts. No seatbelts worked in the back.. It was supposed to be in glass bottom sea kayaks. But instead we got in a dingy that barely started. We ended up on a very small island covered in small tumbled glass. He claims it was an old bottling plant dump site, but not sure he wasn’t going to break the bottles from the floor board of the truck!
He left us and we collected glass. He finally came back and we asked him to take us back early. When we got in the dingy, he started the engine and it caught on fire. After a few splashes of seawater he put the fire out and we made it back to his truck. On the very fast ride back he regaled us with stories of his parents being drag racers and so he has it in his genes! Then the story of his motorcycle in high school that the police took due to his speeding! But of course, he hopped the fence of the impound lot and stole it back, I’m leaving out lots of details, but I definitely would not recommend this trip and am disappointed that Viator offered it and took our money!!!!!

Thank you for your feedback. We take guest safety and experiences very seriously, so we would like to clarify a few points mentioned in this review.
The tour did operate as scheduled and the same guide has safely conducted many of these tours without issue. Transportation to the departure location is a short drive and our drivers follow local road regulations. Our vehicles and equipment are routinely used for our tours and are maintained for normal operation.
Regarding the boat, it did not catch fire. At one point the engine briefly stalled during start-up, which can occasionally happen with small marine engines, but it was immediately restarted and the tour continued safely without any fire or damage.
Sea Glass Island is a well-known location in Aruba where guests explore and collect sea glass that has naturally tumbled over many years. Many visitors enjoy the unique experience and the history of the area.
We regret that the tour did not meet your expectations and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation.
David_W, Feb 2026
Relaxing kayak out to the island where you are told how it came about and given a rake to "treasure hunt " the glass of your choice.
Ashley_M, Feb 2026
Rich and curly are the coolest!! Me and my partner had a wonderful time collecting rare blues and reds, even coming across an old medicine vile!! Really cool finds! 😊
ANTHONY_R, Feb 2026
We’re on the island for 20 minutes and he said the other group wanted to go back and he told us we had to go back with him. He has a bottle of water when we confronted the service at the end of it. The person told us it was up to us to stay there or not we’re in the middle of an island on an island with no communications $200 down the drain for 20 minutes on a sea glass island
Response from Host, Mar 2026
This is a duplicate review of the same tour and situation you previously posted about.
As already explained, the tour was not ended early by us, and you were not forced to leave. Guests are always welcome to remain on the island and continue exploring.
We have addressed these claims before and stand by our original response.

Curly and Richie were awesome!! Amazing experience. Fun but short kayak ride to the island and so, so much sea glass. I love sea glass!!! Definitely co wider this experience de when you travel to Aruba!
Jeremy_P, Feb 2026
This was a nice, easy paddle. Our guide, Curly, was very personable and energetic. He have us some interesting information about Sea Glass Island and Aruba. He was very helpful to the other couple who kayaked with us. They had never kayaked before so they needed some guidance.

Glass beach Aruba…
While this may be a land lover’s dream to find treasure on the beach, this trip is not for the faint of heart. If you’re flexible and you can go with the flow, and rough a little, this is the trip for you! You get To get right down into the sand and dig for treasure. Confusing tho,
the information about what was included with this trip. I think that list should’ve been under what to bring. There is no restroom on the little island so make sure you go before you go. I was fortunate to be able to go over with a group that didn’t want to kayak so we took a small boat over. It was a tight fit, but we all made it. 😎🏴☠️
Michelle_S, Feb 2026
This was a fun and unique experience. Our driver Rich was knowledgeable and professional. He had a cute little dog Tyson with him that kept us company throughout the ride. Short kayak ride to the island, plenty of sea glass to dig up.
