Overview

An unforgettable experience awaits you on this 2-day trek through one of the deepest canyons in the world. Your guide will take you on a journey through the stunning landscapes of the Colca Canyon, home to the majestic Andean condor. You'll start your adventure with a drive from Arequipa to the town of Chivay. From there, it's a short hike to the Condor's Cross viewpoint, where you'll have the chance to see these magnificent birds in their natural habitat. Afterwards, you'll continue your trek down into the canyon, where you'll spend the night in a cozy bungalow. The next day, you'll hike back up to the top of the canyon and enjoy a refreshing dip in the hot springs before heading back to Arequipa. Splitting the trek into two days means you can take your time to fully enjoy the experience and make the most of the incredible views.

We pick up participants between 3:00 - 3:30 am. You must be ready for the pick up in the reception of your accommodation from 3:00 am. If the name of your accommodation is not in the list, please send us the name after you book the tour. We will be back in Arequipa around 5:30 pm, the drop off is at Santa Catalina Monastery.

Great Canyon - Bad Tour

Canyon was great. The tour company was thoroughly mediocre; the bus driver played music at 3am, there were bugs at dinner, the breakfast on the first day was tiny.

A couple of us in the group had heat realted sickness at first day of hiking. Our tour guide was super helpful to get us through the day. We chosed the mule ride for the next days's ascending hike. Mule operators did not seem understand that some of us were first time mule/horse riders. My foots was not adjusted to the foot cups before took off. After I screamed the mule guide stopped to put my foots in but he did not audjusted the position of side strips ( I have short legs), so my foots kept coming off the foot cups. My friend with another mule guide had the simimar problem too. It it our right dangerous to offer us mule ride without safety concerns. We were lucky we did not fell off the mule during the ride.

The mule renting service is provided only by locals in the Colca canyon and they are not regulated by authorities, this means there are not safety standards for this service. Amazing Experience

We really enjoyed this 2-day trip to the Canon de Colca. The landscape was incredible and our tour guide, Eveline, was really competent and kind. She gave us some info and then let us free to enjoy this experience at our best supporting us in the hardes part of the treck. The tour was realised exactly as described (keep in mind that the place where you will spend the night is really basic) and we are happy to suggest it to those who wish to visit this amazing place.

Amazing and intensive experience

Organizzazione ottima, pick-up alle 3:30am e rientro a Plaza de Armas di Arequipa alle 5:30pm. Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di vedere i condor, nonostante non sia la stagione adatta, lungo la discesa nel canyon e non nel viewpoint per le nuvole che coprivano tutto. Il primo giorno è tutta discesa e si cammina bene per i 18km, la mattina sveglia alle 4:20 e sono 5km di sola salita con dislivello di 1,5km, non una passeggiata. In caso non ai riuscisse si può affittare un mulo per 60 soles, ma mi è sembrata una sofferenza per l’animale. Consiglio questa esperienza solo a chi ha una preparazione fisica adeguata e buona resistenza. Accomodation e cena molto molto basica, un must portarsi un sacco lenzuolo e crema solare anche in questo periodo. Munirsi di tanta acqua se non si vuole spendere dai 6 ai 10 soles lungo il tragitto per una bottiglia da 1L
