If you want to take the transfer to Puno on the last day, please select the correct option when booking. The regular bus will depart from Chivay at 1:00 p.m. and will drop you off at the main square of the city of Puno, arriving at 7:00 p.m. Upon arrival in Puno, you will need to make your own way to your hotel.
If you book the tour with the transfer to Puno included, you can leave your big luggage in a safe place located in the town of Cabanaconde (starting point of the trek) on the first day, and pick it up before arriving to Chivay on the last day. It has an extra cost, paid at the moment, in cash, in local currency (PEN)

Beautiful canyon, late bus, meh-food

The canyon itself is very beautiful with lots of interesting flora and fauna to observe. However, the bus was an hour late for pick-up, the bus was too cold to sleep in on the the way to the canyon, and the “breakfasts” that were included were not appropriate for the amount of activity that this trek requires. Overall average experience.

Tolle Wanderung im Colca-Canyon

Tolle Wanderung durch den Colca-Canyon, mit schönen Aussichten und netten Guides! Am ersten Tag wandert man quasi nur bergab - 1.100 Höhenmeter nach unten (man benötigt gute Knie). Abends wird man belohnt durch eine nette Abkühlung im Pool in der Oase (leider war die Sonne bereits hinter dem Berg verschwunden). Das Wasser der Pools wird durch natürliche Quellen gespeist, fließt dauerhaft und ist dadurch sehr sauber. Die Unterkunft ist rustikal und völlig in Ordnung; das Panorama ist fantastisch. Wir haben etwas mehr gezahlt und ein privates Bad im Zimmer gebucht. Dieses hatte jedoch kein Waschbecken, daher haben wir in der Dusche Hände gewaschen und Zähne geputzt. Am nächsten Tag beginnt die 3-stündige Wanderung bergauf sehr früh (4:45 Uhr), dann geht es 1.200 Höhenmeter aufwärts (recht anstrengend, aber machbar). Positiv: Es ist noch angenehm kühl morgens; Negativ: Frühstück gibt es erst nach dem Aufstieg und Snacks werden nicht zur Verfügung gestellt. Grundsätzlich wird darauf hingewiesen, dass man Bargeld mitnehmen soll, da man im Colca-Tal nicht mit Kreditkarte zahlen kann. Hinweis: Nehmt wirklich genügend Bargeld mit, denn Wasser und Snacks sind im Tourpreis nicht inkludiert und im Colca-Tal sind die Preise 3x so hoch, wie sonst. Nicht einmal beim Mittagessen waren die Getränke inkludiert. Die Einheimischen verkaufen aber genügend Wasser und Snacks. Auch der Eintritt in den Canyon (70 Soles) und die heißen Quellen (15 Soles) sind nicht inkludiert. Am Anfang stoppt man an einem Aussichtspunkt zur Condor-Beobachtung. Wir haben einige gesehen, das war ein toller Anblick! Nach der Wanderung am zweiten Tag fährt man noch 2 weitere tolle Aussichtspunkte an mit gutem Blick auf Inka-Terrassen und Vulkane (sogar ein aktiver Vulkan, der permanent Asche spuckt). Auch der Besuch der heißen Quellen ist ein Highlight und entspannt die Muskeln nach der Wanderung. Zum Schluss fährt man noch durch einen Nationalpark und hat die Chance viele freilebende Vicunas sowie domestizierte Lamas und Alpakas zu sehen! Fazit: Sehr empfehlenswerte Tour! Da wir von anderen mehrtägigen Touren in Peru jedoch gewohnt waren, Wasser und Snacks zur Verfügung gestellt zu bekommen, wäre die Information, dass diese nicht inkludiert sind, vorab nützlich für uns gewesen.
