We had a fun afternoon of surfing! I had never surfed before and was a little nervous as I am older. Sebastian was a great instructor. Our group was small enough to give each of us individual attention. Safety rules were stressed and our group had a great time. I would highly recommend this activity for anyone.

Our experience was very disappointing. We had taken surf lessons in Hawaii and loved it, so we were excited to do it again—but this time was a huge letdown. The lesson was poorly organized and unsafe. The instructors had us catch the last wave, which brought us too close to the shore. Many of us fell onto the sand before we had time to stand up. I injured myself doing this and had to stop immediately.
On top of that, it was far too crowded to surf safely, especially for beginners. There were too many people, including young children, and it just didn’t feel like a safe or structured environment. While the instructors were friendly, none of them actually got on a board to demonstrate or help properly.
One instructor seemed to notice how unhappy we were and offered us a discount or another activity instead. But when we returned to the shop, she told us that her manager said it wasn’t their fault—it was due to “weather conditions.” That didn’t make sense, as the weather was actually great.
We ended up wasting two hours doing nothing but paddling (without even paddles), and it felt like a complete waste of time and money. We were genuinely excited to continue exploring something we had fallen in love with in Hawaii, but this experience left us completely disappointed. After reading other reviews, it seems we’re not the only ones who felt misled. Honestly, it felt like a scam.

I was very much looking forward to our first ever surfing lesson as a family of 4. Firstly, the group size is too big in my opinion. The group was approx. 30 and we were split into 2 groups with an instructor for each group. The instructors were lovely and did their best to get around everyone but it is a lot to do with a group that big. The beach was absolutely heaving with many people getting agitated by the large groups of surfing schools (note, there are several operating in the same space, not just this one!). This was in August '24 so appreciate this is peak time. The beach is extremely rocky as you enter the water with large rocks in the sea that are very hard to see making it hard to find a gap to put the board. It gets easier as you go further out in the water if you make it that far. My hubby got his foot stuck between two rocks and due to the volume of people, got pushed backwards and ended up with an injury and could no longer participate which unfortunately was at the very beginning of the session. I was then very worried for the kids having an accident on the rocks as you couldn't really see them, that it marred the experience for us. It is also worth noting that it is quite a walk to get to the end of the beach with the surf boards and they are not light!! My 14yr old daughter struggled to carry the board and we were trailing at the very back of the group trying to keep the rest of the group in view so we didn't lose them amongst the masses on the beach. The walk was likely longer because of how busy the beach was but it was no easy task even for the adults.

This would be great if there were 1/2 the people. There were several other surf schools happening at the same time and not enough ocean. I ran into at least 3 people while trying to surf. Wearing a wetsuit also seemed unnecessary. My 7 year old tapped out pretty quickly. The instructor were great but it was too crowded.

We (family of 6 adults) had a wonderful kayak tour with Ivo and Z this mornIng! They were smart, responsible and very hospitable. We loved their knowledge of and respect for the beautiful environment! We got in close to beautiful caves and dolphins and they balanced touring and letting us explore solo well! Book a kayak tour over a boat ride with these guys. You will be so glad you did!

I absolutely enjoyed this and so did the friend I went with. We went to the 7am start. The instructors were kind, experienced and most of all, despite the goal being to teach us how to surf, they still made it incredibly fun for us, going above and beyond. If I lived in Portugal I'd have continued lessons with these guys. I now perhaps will maintain surfing as a permanent hobby, partially due to this great experience!

We had two lovely instructors supporting and teaching us, they were super friendly, approachable, kind, encouraging and knowledgable.
They provided us with wetsuits and a surf board each and talked us through step by step of beginning to surf and techniques to help us. They also spent the time in the water supporting us to catch waves and attempt to stand up.
If you have any interest in water sports / being in the sea then this is for you! Cannot recommend enough!

HIGHLY recommend this. We were complete beginners having never surfed before and by the end of our 1h lesson, we were able to ride the board to shore. Joe was our instructor and he was incredibly enthusiastic, helpful and informative. We would do this again if we had more time in Albufeira!
