Top Maui Surfing Lessons

First, Incredible experience. However, be ready to flex. We were originally scheduled for Tuesday at 10 but I got a call right as we were leaving to reschedule because of 50 mph winds. 😬 We ended up moving it to the next day at 8am and then later that day, it got moved to 7:30am. There’s a reason for that. Scott and his team wanted to make sure that we got the best waves near low tide. And we did. Scott instructed me and my 3 boys, one of which is a 270 lb lineman. Only my two younger ones had surfed before but Scott had us up after the first two or three waves. And he knew exactly where to be. We had barely paddled back out there to him before we were back on the board surfing again while others were just laying on their boards. Scott had us cycling over and over and over again. We were probably up on our board around 15 times in the hour and a half we were out there. We literally stopped because we were so tired. And Scott has the right boards for big guys like me and my son. If you’re 215 and above, you need to book with them. Final note: make sure you have a rash guard and not a swim shirt. He may have had some available for us, but we did not realize there was a difference between a swim shirt and a rash guard. My kids got lit up. We had a great experience and it was good to go with a guy that’s been around for 2 decades. He knows the waves here.

Such a great experience with a great instructor I had. John had guided me throughout every step by step. As a beginner, I was so afraid to be on the deep water, however, John kept me safe throughout the lesson so I was confident to be on the surf board and not be afraid to be drowned. At the end of the lesson, I finally know how to surf but ofc will need to practice more. Thank you so much for helping me find new hobbies.

These surf lessons were top notch. My 18 and 17 year olds loved their experience, from the on land instructions, to the in the water experience all details were A+. The photos were amazing also and I’m forever thankful to have them as a keep sake. I highly recommend!

My two boys, 11 and 13, took a morning surf lesson with Conan. Despite us being late (totally my fault), Conan was friendly, fun, and gave them a really useful lesson. They loved it so much that we rebooked with him for another lesson a few days later! One of their favorite experiences on our trip to Maui!

We had a great time learning the basics of surfing. Devon was fantastic and would be a great instructor for any level of surfing. Of course, Mother Nature decides if you have great waves or not. Ours were lackluster but still super fun. Make sure you put sunscreen on the back of your legs!

Hands down one of the BEST experiences we had in Maui! We did the semi-private surf lesson at Ka’anapali Beach with Island Style Adventures, and it was absolutely unreal from start to finish. If you’re even thinking about trying surfing—go for it. And do it with this crew! Nick was super easy to reach, and helped us reschedule our lesson when the weather didn’t behave. Shawn and Aldo were next-level instructors. Super laid-back, incredibly patient, and just the right mix of encouraging and technical. They made it feel safe, fun, and honestly way easier than I expected. Everyone in our group was up riding waves, and the vibes were pure aloha the whole time. On the ride back to our hotel, our 12 and 14 yo boys were saying “bro I LOVED those guys!” 🙌😌 And Christin—WOW. Not only was she so kind and easygoing, but the photos she captured are priceless. She somehow caught all the best moments (even the ones we didn’t realize were happening), and now we have incredible memories we can actually see forever. What really stood out was how personal the whole experience felt. It never felt rushed or overly “touristy.” Just good people who love what they do and want you to have the best time possible. If you’re in Maui and want something fun, memorable, and totally Hawaiian—this is it. 10/10 would book again in a heartbeat. Mahalo to the whole crew for such an awesome experience!

10/10 experience. Sadly, we had the start time wrong, thankful Ramon gave us a quick call and we were able to still come 20min in. He gave a super helpful introduction to surfing prior to going into the water and went over safety precautions as well. Once we were able to properly get up on the board we got into the water. We had perfect weather and a bunch of waves. We got up almost every time and he made sure to give advice when needed. Honestly coolest guy and worth trying. We got some sick photos as well that we did end up getting. That is a separate charge but worth for almost 100photos. If you’re considering doing a private lesson or group lesson, do private. We had a couple groups next to us as well that didn’t have as much success as us but they had 2 instructors to 8 people. Can’t stress enough how worth this experiences was.

Sophie and Jessica were fabulous. They were friendly and encouraging and made learning to surf easy. My 11 year old had a permanent smile on his face. They taught us how to get up on land and then took us out in the water. They maneuvered the boards into place for us and told us when to paddle and to get up so we could focus on technique rather than timing at first. As we improved they let us figure out the timing a bit more independently while still helping my 11 year old to paddle back out rather than exhausting himself with paddling. It was a great way to spend a morning.
