Not sure why more people don’t talk about visiting here when in Rome. We did this without the audio guide on our last morning in Rome. It was the perfect way to end it. Beautiful views, great story and history. The skip the line ticket is easy to find and the line moves quickly. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic Site to Visit

This was an amazing place to visit for a few hours at a leisurely pace. We didn't bother with the audio guide and whilst I'm sure it was informative, we just enjoyed meandering and reading the information boards. The meet and greet for our tickets was great, and whilst they come at a premium compared to on the door, there was a long queue the day we visited so our tickets ensured immediate entrance. Well worth it.

A view worth the work.

The Castle was great, however there are a lot of stairs and difficult walking conditions (Steep and uneven floors) not mentioned in the description. Meeting to change your voucher for entry tickets did not take too much time but could be described in better detail prior to your arrival. All staff were friendly and helpful. Nice place to visit.

Tour guides difficult to find

The castle is great but finding were the tour guides were was very stressful. They were hiding in a shade behind the statue with no flag or sign (just t-shirts on), which was impossible to spot amongst the crowds of people. Also pointless having to pay for 4 audio guides when you have yo listen on your phone - so tte smaller kids who don’t own a phone yet can’t listen

Reservations and collection of tickets from agent near entrance very easy and fast. I recommend a visit to this site to anyone visiting Rome. Brilliant place. Only regret the Corridor of Pope's was booked out.

Skip buying this ticket

We arrived at the appointed meeting place in plenty of time before our entry time. The tour operator had a line of about 20 people needing to exchange their vouchers for their Skip The Line tickets. They could not find about half of the guests vouchers. It took 40 minutes to get to our turn and we exchanged our vouchers and went on to enter the Castel Sant Angelo. There was never a line to buy tickets or enter this site so this “experience” cost us time and money. As the tour operator had sent a text reminder about the ticket, I responded to them to say things were not working. They told me I was confused and that if I had arrived late, this was my problem. My suggestion - if you are visiting and it’s not prime season, just show up, buy a ticket and enjoy without aggravation. While visiting Rome we had about half a dozen either tours or skip-the-line tickets which all worked fine. Only the Castel Sant Angelo from Crown/Viator was a disaster. Maybe just don’t use those providers.

The guided audio did not work. The Castel was cool and there were several levels to explore. Recommend visiting but download a history of the Castel before visiting.

It might be easier to go to the castle and get in line than have to meet someone outside who have many people waiting for their tickets and audio. Bit of a confusing system which took longer than expected in the heat. The line was low when we were there so I don’t know if the lines are longer earlier. We did it at 5pm so we could watch the sun set after the tour as recommended by a friend. Definitely worth seeing and doing the self tour.

Skip the line entry and audio tour download (to a phone) to Castel Sant'Angelo. It was a interesting place to visit, with pictures, drawings and painting of the building over history as well as some old weapons on display. Just the building is interesting in its own right. You also get good views of Rome from the other side of the Tiber.
