What To Expect

Meet your expert paragliding instructors on location at the activity center; alternatively, choose pickup at your Reykjavík hotel when booking.

Climb into a 4x4 vehicle and head up an off-road mountain track through the rugged terrain. Once at the jumping-off point, get a thorough safety briefing and orientation to the sport of paragliding. Your instructor will evaluate the flying conditions just prior to takeoff to ensure your complete safety and comfort; conditions can change rapidly. In case of a cancellation you have the choice to re-schedule, choose another aerial tour or a full refund.

Strap into the paraglider with your instructor, take a running start off the precipice and let the drafts lift you into flight. Lean back into your harness and get comfortable to enjoy the views. Revel in the feeling of pure freedom; many adventure athletes consider this sport the closest that humans can get to the feeling of true flight. Bring your camera at your own risk; a GoPro video of the flight is available for an additional fee.

Your pilot/instructor will control the glider, but you have the option to take supervised control yourself. Learn the basics of free flight and give it a try, or ask your pilot to perform some heart-pounding tricks.

Land safety with your feet on the ground after 20 minutes of flying time, then hit the road back to Reykjavík.

Unbelievable fun experience mad more memorable by the professionalism and courtesies shown by Thordir and HappyWorld adventures. It was an adventure of a lifetime soaring into the clouds and doing some cool turns in the sky. The organizers were so responsive and arranged pick up at my hotel too. No one should miss this opportunity to try this sport in such idyllic surroundings - with people who really know what they are doing. I am so glad the weather worked for us and i had the best time of my trip. Thank you so much.

Thunner is a welcoming and hospitable host for the paragliding excursion. He gave useful explanations every step of the way including in the air, and prioritized comfort and safety. He was kind enough to drop me at the Reykyavik bus terminal -- to the bus door as it was departing! A class act. First time paragliding. Views were nice, instructions easy to follow, time in air about 10-12 minutes.

This was an amazing experience for our family that we won’t ever forget. We were in touch with Happy World (company who runs the experience) before the event and they were great. They walked us through the safety instructions before every single person went up (there were 6 of us) as they take safety seriously. The views are breathtaking and help calm your nerves. It was scary but exhilarating and a must do to create memories. We put the address into our GPS and it bypassed the parking area and had us turn on a do not enter road. If you GPS it, once you see the light sticking out of the lava rocks (it’s the only light on the road), turn right onto a dirt road (no signage). It’s maybe a quarter mile (or 1 kilometer) off the main road once you turn off.

Unfortunately, the paragliding was cancelled due to weather. The company was able to arrange a small ultralight plane flight as a replacement, which was a great experience. Great stuff, and well-handled.

This was an excellent booking -- our weather in Iceland was windy and rainy almost the entire 5 days we were there. Our initial paraglide tour was cancelled, but our guide kept us updated with weather and wind. One sunny morning we were delighted to get the go-ahead, but then the wind kicked up. Instead of canceling, we were offered a glider experience -- which we took. It was wonderful ! We went up one at a time in the two seat glider -- our pilot gave a rich, detailed aerial tour of lava fields, lakes, mountains -- then ended with aerobatics 2 Gs to weightless ! -- so much fun. Five stars for the organization on the ground, and 5 for the pilot !

Des annulations à répétitions. Toujours prévenue au dernier moment. Des rendez-vous sur le site totalement improbables. Le vol n'a pas eu lieu le vendredi comme prévu (à cause de problèmes techniques), ni le samedi à midi, ni le samedi à 13:00 à cause d'une brise marine qui bloquait les nuages. Le temps était pourtant clair et dégagé. Donc pas d'expérience de parapente qui devait être le point fort de mon voyage. J'attends d'être remboursée. Vraiment très déçue
