This experience was nothing short of amazing! By itself the hike is something unique and choosing ExperienceGT was the best decision we could have made. They travel with a smaller group so the guides can take better care of you. I specially want to recommend Roberto and Vidalia, two individuals who are super experienced, have fun at what they are doing and bring the outmost patience. They took good care of us and did nothing wreck less, they read the weather conditions well so we had the best view on the Fuego hike and on the sunrise hike. This was such an excellent experience that I wasn’t expecting. Gio, our guide, made sure we were all comfortable with our ATVs—I wasn’t. But he didn’t make a big deal about it or seem frustrated and served as my driver. He made the experience memorable for us all and was a great paparazzo! I would have never been able to capture photos so well. Having a small group of kind participants made the day even more enjoyable. Gio did a wonderful job of giving us plenty of time at Hobbitenango, but not too much so we were bored. He stuck to schedule, which is appreciated when traveling and tour/events are booked in advanced. I also liked how all off the gunners were included In our entrance to Everything. I would recommend Gio’s ATV ride to anyone!

Very well coordinated experience. Pickup and drop off in Antigua was easy and well communicated. We went to a few different villages and did a bunch of activities. I also decided to stay overnight in San Juan and come to Antigua the following day and they were very accommodating and allowed me to return the following day with the other group at no extra charge.

Great time with CA!

Toni and team were great! The trip was affordable, fun, and each detail was carefully planned. Read the packet before you go and you’ll know almost all of the information. Everyone was helpful and answered any additional questions! Plenty of hotels near their headquarters in Antigua, and about half a block away is a safe/and secure parking spot for 13 USD per day.

Unique experience and well organized

We loved experiencing the volcano. In particular, the lava field was fascinating. It felt like a uniquely Guatemalan experience, which is what we were looking for. The tour was really well organized, including excellent communication days before the outing and during our tour. We had 3 guides that were spread out amongst our group to assist with navigation and safety. Tips: - There is about a 1.5 hour drive through the mountains in a shuttle before and after the ATV part, so come prepared if you are prone to motion sickness. - Wear hiking boots. We did ok in sneakers, but hiking boots would have made for an easier experience. - For novice ATV drivers… the instructor provided good operating instructions and also provided advice on navigating some more challenging parts of the trail throughout the trek. It is the rainy season, so we could see where some parts of the trail were washed out, etc. If you’re uncomfortable, they do provide an option to back out of driving before leaving. Also, the ATVs can accommodate 2 people if you want to designate a driver and a rider.

Our driver Rolando was great. Our flight was delayed multiple times and the company was very accommodating to let us know it was no problem and someone would pick us up whenever we arrived. Challenging but Unforgettable Acatenango Experience

I did the overnight Acatenango hike with Ox Expeditions and was really impressed with how well organised everything was. The welcome briefing the night before is absolutely essential—it gives you a clear idea of what to expect and how demanding the hike truly is. One thing I really appreciated was that they offer lots of warm clothing to hire for free, which meant I didn’t have to pack bulky layers in my own bag. I would strongly recommend hiring a porter for the ascent (for an additional charge). The hike is steep, long and genuinely difficult, and having someone carry your main bag makes a huge difference. Be prepared for very cold temperatures at base camp. Food is provided and perfectly fine for the conditions, but the campsite itself is very basic. It’s also worth knowing that you’re not guaranteed dramatic views or a clear sight of Fuego erupting—weather and cloud cover can change quickly. Even so, the experience is absolutely worth it. Reaching the top and spending the night on the volcano is something I’ll never forget.
