Must do tours in Beijing with the top tour guide!!!
Maggie was an outstanding tour guide for our Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and Great Wall tour. I visited with my son, and she made the entire day engaging, smooth, and genuinely memorable for both of us. She was upbeat, personable, and exceptionally informative, bringing the history and significance of each site to life without ever making the experience feel overwhelming. Maggie managed the logistics seamlessly while still giving us plenty of context, helpful tips, and time to appreciate the incredible places we were visiting. Anyone coming to Beijing should absolutely sign up for this tour—and I would strongly recommend requesting Maggie specifically. She is possibly one of the very best guides on the tour, and she made a great experience even better.

Great Wall Made Easy
Jim was incredibly helpful, from picking us up from the hotel lobby to navigating the lines, including cable car and tickets, and even guiding us though several of the towers at Mutianyu, though we chose the driver only package. The ride included water bottles and fresh fruit. Jim is very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend.

Exemplary!!
We had two lovely days with Erica as our guide. She thought us so much about the history and culture of Beijing and China. She is absolutely knowledgeable and thoughtful. We had limited time and were able to see all of the highlights in two days, impossible on our own. The food was delicious and abundant. Thank you Erica!

Easiest way of experiencing one of Beijing's must-see heritage sites.
The combination of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Beijing, but with hard-to-buy tickets and heavy security, so the guide was worth it alone to help navigate all the various queues and processes. From research, it seems it is possible to get tickets individually, but the tour companies have these block-booked, and while more expensive, the process was so much easier and less stressful. The Forbidden City itself is spectacular and a must-see heritage site, and the guide was both friendly and full of interesting information about the history of the place. Biggest downside was the weather - we went in August in >30C conditions, but you have to be prepared to do a lot of walking over wide concrete/stone spaces regardless, so take lots of water and wear something comfortable if you're going this time of year. But that can't be held against the tour guide, so I've not subtracted any stars for that. We didn't get to see all of the (it is huge) but we could have stayed and explored more if we'd wanted. As another tip, really don't underestimate the Beijing traffic if getting there by taxi - we were late but fortunately our guide was in touch with us by text and we were able to rendezvous with them after they'd started.
