Very knowledgeable guide If you plan to visit the Vatican the basement and the rooftop is a must see The view from the top is worth the 300 steps you will climb

Very cool experience
Based on photos online, there’s so much of the necropolis to see. I’m wondering if the tour is specific to the tour guide, or it’s the same for everyone. I enjoyed the story our guide was building throughout each site. But I wish we got to see more.

Grateful for our wonderful tour guide
The Basilica is stunningly beautiful and a little overwhelming. Having a guided tour made our visit more meaningful. Our guide spoke English very well and explained, in detail, the history of the Basilica and the events that take place today.

Beautiful Basilica
Great visit, amazing experience and what a beautiful space, both at the top of the dome and in the Basilica. Tour operators instructions great and the there at the meeting spot to help. But note to future travellers Speak to the person at the queue for the lifts and tell them you have tickets, instructions at the Basilica really unclear!

St. Peter's Dome (Cupola di San Pietro)
  • You must pass through a security check to access the dome—banned items include pocketknives, corkscrews, and umbrellas.

  • The dress code in the basilica and dome requires that shoulders and knees are covered.

  • The dome is partially accessible to wheelchair users. There is an elevator to the roof level (or you can climb the 320 steps), but only a spiral staircase provides access to the cupola at the highest point of the dome (another 200 steps).

  • Views are dizzying from the top of St. Peter’s Dome, so visiting the top is not recommended for anyone afraid of heights.

  • Kids especially enjoy the invigorating climb and views, so consider joining a small-group tour tailored to families if traveling with children.
