From the very beginning, Putu went above and beyond—she and her husband personally picked us up from our hotel, making us feel welcomed right away. When we arrived at her family home, it felt like stepping into the heart of Balinese culture. Putu took the time to walk us through her home, explaining her family temple, traditions, and daily customs in a way that was both fascinating and deeply personal. One of the highlights was touring her garden, where she grows many of the ingredients used in the class. It was incredible to see everything so fresh and organic—truly farm-to-table at its finest. We were even treated to a refreshing coconut drink, freshly harvested right from her own tree! The cooking class itself was hands-on, fun, and incredibly informative. Putu guided us step by step as we prepared six authentic Balinese dishes, thoughtfully adjusting each recipe to match our spice tolerance. From chopping and slicing to learning traditional techniques, she made everything approachable and enjoyable. After cooking, we sat down to enjoy the delicious meal we had created together—and it was absolutely amazing. Every dish was bursting with flavor, made even more special by the experience behind it. Putu is truly one of the sweetest and most hospitable hosts you could ever meet. Her warmth, knowledge, and passion for sharing her culture made this experience far more than just a cooking class—it was a genuine cultural immersion. Highly, highly recommend—this was easily one of the best experiences of our trip!
