What are people saying about Shanghai

Kalvin was a wonderful tour guide.
Alana from the tour company was an excellent communicator - when my WeChat wouldn’t work we were able to communicate via text. She helped us meet up with our guide Kalvin when we started out in the wrong spot. Kalvin was an excellent guide. Out Didi driver dropped us off in the wrong location and Kalvin found us quickly with Alana’s help. The tour of old town & Yu gardens was great. Kalvin was very knowledgeable about Shanghai’s ancient and near history - giving lots of perspective about the changes and developments over time. He helped us to find a chopstick store where we could get chopsticks personalized. We wanted to try some local Chinese food so he got us a great sampling and when the restaurant was out of xiao long bao, even went to another restaurant to get some for us. He had a driver arranged to take us to the Shanghai tower, teaching us lots about the development of Pudong over the past 30 years. We went us the tower to the viewing floor (tickets not included in tour price) and came up with us to point out all the sights. We had finished up at the Bund where he advised we could hang out for lights at 7pm, or take the driver back to our hotel. Kalvin offered a very personalized and interesting insight into Shanghai - he instantly made my non-Chinese speaking family feel at ease. Overall recommend 100% - I wish we had more than 4 hours with him. Don’t hesitate to ask for Kalvin!

An awesome experience to remember
I would highly recommend this experience. From Mr Shen picking us up and dropping us back to our hotel and our tour guide Kalvin talking and walking us through his vast experience and knowledge of Shanghai and its history this was truly a memorable experience and a fantastic way to spend our last in Shanghai

Historic and Modern Charm
Annie was an exceptional guide who led me through the vibrant streets of Suzhou, showcasing both its historic and modern charm. Her engaging storytelling and detailed historical insights made the tour truly memorable. The lunch spot she chose was fantastic, marking my first sit-down meal in China in the most delightful way. The transportation was comfortable and punctual, ensuring a seamless experience. Overall, Annie’s expertise and enthusiasm far exceeded my expectations, making this tour an unforgettable adventure.

A smooth experience due to earlier and frequent communication by the tour company!
Excellent communication. Received an invite to start a What’s App chat within a day of booking (even though my reservation was a month out). Two days prior, received my drivers photo and car photo with license plate info. They tracked my flight and kept me updated. Driver also texted me a photo of my hotel with address to confirm the location was accurate (I was staying outside of city center by SJTU). Then after getting my bags, the driver was waiting with my name/sign after customs. Not certain he spoke English, though there wasn’t a need to communicate as I just followed him to the car, which was a short walk to the parking garage. Definitely recommend vs a Didi/taxi.

Ideal Tour and Experience
The experience was marvellous. Our guide, Snow, was on time, friendly, organized and ready to go. She had us on our way in a pristine and cool van to Zhujiajiao in moments. The tour was informative, beautiful, patient and comfortable. We were never rushed, lunch was excellent and plentiful and shopping a bit with a guide helped us buy some bargains despite the inevitable expense of a place like this. There was no hard sell, no nothing just a fascinating few hours in a lovely and unique place. I rarely say this but it was everything I wanted and expected.

Great guide with lots of authentic great food
Myself and wife walked about 3 hours with TJ and experienced both authentic local food as well as learning about how locals live and where they shop and enjoy life. This was one of the best food walking tours I’ve done.
Lots of great food and lots of great stories and learnings
Had we done the food walking tour day one in Shanghai, I would have asked TJ to spend a day showing us the major sights of Shanghai….and to introduce us to didi and Alipay. Would have made our stay way more enjoyable and less stressful

The Perfect Day Exploring Shanghai!
We had a fantastic experience exploring Shanghai with our guide, Fei Fei. She was incredibly knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting information about every place we visited. One of the best parts of the tour was the flexibility—we were able to choose the itinerary we wanted, and Fei Fei also provided alternative options based on the weather.
Having a private car with AC was a huge benefit during the hot Shanghai summer, and the private tour format allowed us to move at our own pace and ask as many questions as we wanted throughout the day. Fei Fei was dedicated to us for the entire tour and made the experience both enjoyable and informative.
Overall, it was a great way to see the city and was absolutely worth the money. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience with the two of us and one guide just for us. Lin was fabulous!
For some reason I was expecting a group tour like I've had in the past, your and your best friend plus 30 strangers on a bus, one tour guide with a microphone, that sort of thing. I did not realize that for this great price you could get a private tour with your very own tour guide just for our twosome! I also didn't realize it would be so complete, with cars at each interval for just the 3 of us to connect us to the next stop, and lunch would be whatever we wanted to order at a wonderful restaurant--it was nearly a banquet. All this was wonderful but the particularly great part of it was our guide Lin. She kept to English for us (my bestie is bilingual but I don't have a word of Chinese) and not only gave us facts about our tour but steered us toward great shopping opportunities, made sure we were comfortable at every step (it was broiling hot), made great recommendations at our restaurant, and was so incredibly kind and welcoming and conversational, it was like we'd made an instant friend. She was so splendid a person to get to know that I would absolutely ask for her again on any and every tour for which she was available. If you are looking for something one-on-one and to eat great food, get this tour, and if you want a terrific person to be your guide do ask for Lin, she's just amazing!

We had a very informative...
We had a very informative and organized tour. Judy was our tour guide and she was very professional. The only downside was that it was extremely hot (38°C), sunny and humid so we highly recommend having a hat, sunscreen, portable fan and cooling towel available. If you're not in decent shape, this tour is not for you.

Great Tour and Guide
We had an absolutely fantastic day exploring Shanghai with Jane, and we honestly couldn't have asked for a better guide. From the moment we met her, she was warm, welcoming, and genuinely excited to show us her city. It felt like spending the day with a knowledgeable local friend rather than being on a tour.
Jane customized the day perfectly and made sure we got to experience both the iconic sights and the unique character of Shanghai. Walking along The Bund while she shared stories about the city's fascinating history and impressive skyline gave us a whole new appreciation for how Shanghai has evolved over the years. Visiting Yu Garden was another highlight, and Jane explained the history and symbolism behind the beautiful architecture and gardens in a way that made it so much more meaningful.
We also loved wandering through the French Concession, where Jane pointed out hidden gems, historic buildings, and charming streets we never would have discovered on our own. The visit to Shanghai Tower was the perfect way to finish the day—the views were absolutely breathtaking, and Jane made sure we knew exactly what we were looking at as we admired the city from above.
What really made the tour special was Jane herself. She was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, funny, and happy to answer every question we had. She paced the day perfectly, never making us feel rushed, and she even gave us fantastic recommendations for local restaurants, cafés, and places to explore after the tour. Every recommendation was excellent!
This was one of the best tours we've ever done and easily one of the highlights of our trip to China. If you're visiting Shanghai, this tour is an absolute must. And if you're lucky enough to have Jane as your guide, you're in for an unforgettable day. Thank you, Jane, for helping us fall in love with Shanghai—we'll be talking about this experience for years to come!

Incredible tour with the best guide!
The Water Town tour was the highlight of our visit to Shanghai! Our tour guide, Snow, was amazing! She was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour was customized to exactly what we wanted to do, and Snow was flexible when we decided to switch a few of the sites. I highly recommend this tour and would request Snow again!

A great night out
We had a wonderful tour exploring the beautiful night lights along the Huangpu River and the charming atmosphere of Yuyuan Old Street. The cruise offered stunning views of Shanghai’s illuminated skyline, making it a truly memorable experience. Our tour guide, Mary, was very knowledgeable, friendly and spoke very good English. She shared many interesting facts and stories about the city’s history and culture. As an added bonus, Mary is a great photographer and helped us capture fantastic photos throughout the tour. Thank you to the driver as well who ensured we reached our stops safely and for the excellent navigation.
