Top Santorini Day Trips

This is a wonderful way to visit Santorini. The logistics around cruise ships is challenging with the need to use the Cable Car. This tour fixes those logistics issues while simultaneously giving a wonderful tour of the island. The description of the history and culture were fascinating! Oh, and don't forget the views!

We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel before and after the tour. Our Guide Gregory was fantastic, he was very knowledgeable and engaging with a great sense of humour. The driver was Philip who did a great job driving through some very tricky roads. The tour was excellent with lots of interesting historical information about Santorini. I’d highly recommend this tour.

We enjoyed this tour of Santorini. We booked this as a cruise port excursion. As this was our first time in Santorini, we wanted to see some of the “greatest hits” and take a few photos, which is exactly what we did. That said, due to the amount of ground to cover and the number of things to see, it felt a bit like a rushed march at times, especially in Oias which was very crowded even at 9am. In addition to Oias with the classic views, we visited the monastery for views of the entire island from the highest point, a traditional village Megalochoria, and the black sand beach. Our guide Aris was great at giving us options to explore each site on our own vs accompanying us directly. We generally opted for the latter, especially in Oias which was helpful given the crowds. We also appreciated having him there when a team of mules came by on the narrow streets at a very fast pace! He also took us to a private church with blue domes that was out of the way for some photos, rather than spending time waiting in the long lines for the usual picture spot in Oias. We had lunch in a nice traditional Greek taverna. Here too, Aris was great in determining our preference for a spot focusing on view/location vs a more authentic experience. We opted for the latter and were very satisfied with that choice. We did need to be clear about our priorities and ask a lot of questions about the island, and then Aris was great at communicating. We opted to skip the bells of Fira that we had planned to see, because at the end of our 5-hour tour we were a bit fatigued, even though we are two fit, active women who do a lot of walking, but we were also just 1 day after our transatlantic flight and tour in Athens and were still a bit jet lagged, so we may have been over ambitious. We opted to pay extra for round trip water taxi service to Ammoúdi, which was the right choice for us. Given the 5-hour tour and the amount of driving, waiting for the gondola lines would have probably significantly decreased what we were able to do around the different locations. I might skip the village visit if I had it to do over. I did find that having my cell phone international plan made pickup communication with Katerina, the coordinator, and Aris, the driver, easier. My friend had only WiFi at the port, and communicating about pickup may have been more difficult at Ammoúdi with only that. All in all I would do this again for a first visit, it gave me a better idea of what to expect on the island and to focus any future visits. We did get some great pictures!

Gregory's knowledge, kindness, and humor were absolutely perfect. He tailored his narration and descriptions to our small group's interests and questions. I would give this long (10hrs) trip 10 stars if I could. It was the perfect in-depth overview of the whole island

I had an incredible day exploring Santorini with Georgios, who was an exceptional guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to show me around the island. It’s definitely one of the coolest ways to experience Santorini, especially if you only have a day.

Tasos was absolutely fantastic as our tour guide. He turned up on time, was enthusiastic the whole tour, he had a wide range of information on many questions our group asked. He listened to what was important to our group and carefully organized the day so we could see everything we wanted to before the rush of crowds. The van was large, clean and held all 8 of us comfortably. He explained everything so clearly and helped us make decisions step by step which was important as a group of 8. Stress free way to see a lot of awesome sights and enjoy experiences. We stayed at a hotel in Oía and the tour company sent a driver to pick us up. We joined up with the rest of the group on a comfortable bus. The tour guide spoke very clearly and gave myth stories and scientific explanations of the volcano and other natural formations. Our first stop was at the highest point on Santorini, up by the monastery. We could see forever. Then we traveled down to the prehistoric site of Akrotiri. This part was the most interesting to me. We had an archaeologist guide that explained all the ruins and answered our questions. I felt at that point the tour had paid for itself. And we still had more to go. We stopped by a small village and explored the narrow alleyways and churches, then went down to Perissa Beach to watch the sea and eat stuffed calamari. So delicious! We then went for wine tasting at a local winery. The Santo Vino was amazing. We ended our trip at Oía for sunset viewing.

Our tour was an incredible experience. YiaNis and Gina were fantastic with their knowledge and pleasant personalities. We learned a lot about the island and also have many photos for our memories of being on Santorini. Book this tour for a great time.
