Ice Cave Tour - Very unique!
Signed up for a 9:30am tour. Got an email 2 days before asking if we could change to 11:15am or offering a refund. We made it work. Meeting parking area was easy to find —it took a little bit to figure out which exact van to go to. 13 in our group. They provided crampons and helmet. The 25min ride out was bumpy but the local guide driver was skilled. It was a short windy walk over the glacier to the caves. We visited 6 caves of varying size, shape and depth of color. Beautiful and unique.

Great experience. Worth it! There was 10 of us total. The tour was a great experience. They provided us with helmets and crampons. We got to try a piece of the ice which the tour guide said was 1000yrs old. Would definitely recommend.

Breathtaking
The glacier and ice caves are breathtaking! Tour guy is very informative told us what it looked like a day before or a year ago.
It's about 30 minutes very bumpy road from meet point to the glacier, if someone is easy to have motion sickness keep that in mind.

Beautiful glacier hike!
We had a great time with Finar as our guide! He shared a lot about icelands history as well as his own, and even drove out to where we could see reindeer. The tour of the glacier and cave was beautiful.

Great tour, David!
David was a wonderful guide through the ice cave. He was knowledgeable, safety minded and friendly. He provided some good info about glaciers, the landscape and Iceland that we did not know. I would recommend this tour with David to my friends and family when they visit the area.

Ice caves were amazing
Exactly what we wanted. Adventure in the ice caves. All the staff was very knowledgeable and cared about the safety for all. You could tell they happy to be doing their job.

WORTH IT
We had an awesome time on our ice cave tour! We also had to do a little glacier hike to get there so it was a fun two for one. Our guide was very knowledgeable, fun, and focused on our safety. He has worked on a number of films made in Iceland and had so many interesting fun facts and stories to tell. It was by far a highlight of our trip

Was a good tour as it did...
Was a good tour as it did what was advertised. After learning the history and environmental concerns from local park rangers and locals, however, I am a bit torn given my environmental background. Was told that the glaciers have been melting faster than ever before and obviously bringing considerable amounts of people (100s a day) onto the glacier increases temperature along with guides picking at the ice that is 1000’s of years old. The glacier is very pretty even from the farther viewing points and well worth it. Thought these comments would provide some items for consideration as they would have changed my own booking preferences.

Wonderful way to spend a day
The glacier lagoon is nothing short of extraordinary—an otherworldly landscape that feels entirely unlike anything I’ve encountered before. Walking across the glacier itself was a rare and memorable experience, offering a tangible connection to one of nature’s most powerful and ancient formations. Our guide brought the environment to life with a deep understanding of glacial formation, answering every question with clarity and a touch of well-timed humor that made the experience even more engaging.
The ice caves, while smaller in scale than some might imagine, are remarkable in their own right—intricate, ever-changing formations shaped by the forces of nature. Approaching the visit with realistic expectations is key; these are not vast, cathedral-like caverns, but rather intimate and striking natural features. With that perspective, the experience is deeply rewarding and well worth it.

Skaftafell National Park is a must-visit for nature lovers.
Tours may be canceled due to poor weather.
One of the best views can be found at Sjonarnipa, which is to the right of the crossroad before Svartifoss.
Due to safety issues, Icelandic tourism authorities advise attempting to hike on the glaciers only as part of a guided tour.
