The experience begins with a visit to the Coastal and Marine Biodiversity Centre (CMBC) at Airoli, located near the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary. At the centre, travelers explore interactive exhibits, audio-visual displays, and short documentary films that introduce the coastal and marine biodiversity of Maharashtra. The guide explains the ecological importance of Thane Creek, the species it supports, and the threats faced by this fragile ecosystem.
After the centre visit, participants take a guided mangrove walk along designated trails to observe mangrove habitats up close. During the walk, the naturalist highlights mangrove species, associated flora and fauna, and explains how mangroves protect coastlines and support birdlife.
