What are people saying about Luxor

Fantastic first hot air balloon ride in Luxor!
Pickup was super early via van and then ferry to cross the Nile. We waited for hours with hundreds of other travelers flying with many different companies. Good thing we scheduled our first morning in Luxor, as all flights were cancelled by the agency that regulates balloon rides. We were dropped off at a meeting point for our next tour of Valley of the Kings/Queens, rather than a returning back to our hotel. This was convenient. We did have the next day available, so we rebooked and hoped for the best. That night happened to be Egypt’s return to standard time, so clocks fell back and we were picked up an hour earlier. Same process as previous day… van, ferry across the Nile, wait hours in the dark while being pestered by vendors selling goods, mostly children. But this day the balloons went up. What a glorious sight to see the balloons inflate on the ground… have your camera ready We were given premium spots in the balloon because the workers recognized that we had returned a second day. (Most people around us the previous day couldn’t rebook, as they were leaving Luxor.) The flight was epic. It feels like nothing when you leave the ground and float through the air. We had great views of the sunrise, Valley of the Queens, and the other balloons. All went well with the flight and landing. Transfer back to our hotel was smooth. Highly recommend this experience!

Amazing experience....
Amazing experience. Driver was great and communicated very well. I would highly recommend this tour. We actually started at 9 AM because we wanted to eat breakfast and it was enough time. When we got there, it was after all the tour buses left so there was only a few people there. This was in May 2026

A day trip to Abu Simbel and Aswan from Luxor
It was a truly amazing day. The trip was long but very well worth it. The lunch box was very nice. The driver, AMR, was truly a professional and guide, Nana, was a very lovely companion. Adding a visit to the Temple of Philae in Aswan was a wonderful idea. Thank you very much for a safe and excellent trip.

Luxor East and West Bank day tour
The tour guide, Manal, was very knowledgeable and will allow you sufficient free time at each site. It was very enjoyable to experience Luxor with her and our driver, Keroles. The toir was safe, the lunch was good. The puck up was very punctual and from your hotel, which is very convenient.

Thrilled!
The Full Day Tour to the East and West Banks of Luxor was one of the most memorable experiences of the entire Egypt trip. The day was long and quite intense, but absolutely worth it if you want to see Luxor’s most important attractions in a short time.
The guide was knowledgeable and explained the history of Egypt in an engaging way, not just with dry facts. The visits to the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and Karnak Temple were the highlights. It is hard to understand how impressive these places are until you see them in real life. Karnak was especially breathtaking with its enormous columns and incredible details.

Everything Luxor In One Day
I will share information with you that I not already listed under the tour information.
- Expect a FULL day. We were picked up at 4AM and dropped off at 6PM.
- The hot air balloon ride is highly dependent on near perfect conditions. Be mentally prepared if it doesn't work out.
- A photo and video service during the balloon will be offered for an additional 25€ (the quality of pictures taken were great)
- After the hot air balloon ride, we're surprised to continue with a private tour (with the famous Dr. Mo)
- At the valley of the kings, although the ticket allows 3 tombs we only had time to see 2.
- For Dr. Mo to tell us the story of King Tut, it was an additional $30USD/person. I didn't feel it was worth it. You can read the information off the informational board.
- The place you will be brought for lunch is a tourist trap, about $20USD per person.
- The tour brought us to hands on experiences- Alabaster Store, Perfume, and Papyrus. It was very cool, but every place we went I felt obligated to buy something, hopefully you can have better will power than me! Don't be afraid to negotiate!!!
It was be better to split all the things we saw between 2-3 days. But if you only have one day like us, this is a great tour!

Exceptional Guide Who Made Luxor Come Alive
One of the best tour guides I have ever encountered in my travels. Ayman was extremely friendly, professional, and deeply knowledgeable not only about the monuments and temples we visited in Luxor, but about history in general as well. You could truly feel his passion and experience throughout the entire tour.
What stood out even more was his honesty and genuine care for us as visitors. He warned us about common tourist scams, gave useful local advice, and made sure we felt comfortable and safe during the whole experience. Thanks to him, Luxor felt much more authentic and enjoyable rather than just another tourist destination.
He transformed the experience from simply “seeing monuments” into actually understanding the civilization, culture, and stories behind them. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Luxor who wants a memorable and trustworthy guide.

Luxor East Bank Temples Tour
We had a wonderful day exploring the East Bank.
Our tour guide Salwa was extremely knowledgeable and informative. We were picked up on time, she guided us through the Karnak and Luxor Temples. She explained the history and meaning of several drawings/ writings in through detail, took our photos and gave us time to take photos as we went along and also in the end.
She was easy to chat to, really friendly and made our tour very enjoyable.

Recommended half day trip
Great half day excursion. With the newer road only takes about 4 hours. Hassan was a good guide. All three places were very worthwhile with well preserved and colourful carvings, especially at the artisans village where they were so complete and quite unique.

Excellent tour as described
We had an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable and went into detail about the sights we visited. A stop was made at an alabaster factory, which seems like a tourist trap, but it was low pressure; overall the tour was hassle free, as described, and very enjoyable.

Temples and tombs with Ahmed Omar
Ahmed Omar was a great guide for this full day tour of the temples and tombs. The private tour is recommended, as it allows for a more intimate learning experience. He always checked to see if I had any more questions. A very thoughtful guide. A nice lunch to finish the day.

Krystal and the family valley of kings and hot air balloon
Our family had an absolutely incredible experience with Valley of Kings and the hot air balloon ride! Dr. Mo was an exceptional tour guide, truly a brilliant Egyptology professor, and an equally skilled hot air balloon pilot, making our trip unforgettable. The drivers were also fantastic, ensuring smooth and comfortable transfers throughout our journey. Just a heads-up for future travelers: if you're paying by card, confirm they bring the machine with them. This was a truly five-star adventure we'll cherish forever!

Not seeing something you are looking for?
As Egypt’s one-time ancient capital of Thebes, Luxor boasts numerous antiquities. But it’s also within easy reach of many other historical highlights, so it’s a dream destination for day-trippers. Topping the agenda are Luxor day trips that showcase West and East Bank must-sees such as the Valley of Kings’ tombs with an Egyptologist guide—some include extras such as lunch and hot-air balloon flights. Other Luxor day trips venture further afield to the Dendera and Abydos temples, explore Aswan or UNESCO-listed Abu Simbel, or even go snorkeling in Hurghada on the Red Sea.
