Great private tour of La Paz
Edson, the owner of Sami Tours, put together an awesome custom private half day tour of La Paz for us. We rode several teleferico lines and saw numerous sights around town. The tour flowed really well and we tasted some great snacks as well. Edson shared stories of the past and present with us and made us feel welcome in Bolivia. I highly recommend this tour.

La Paz in a Day: The Perfect “Catch-All” Private Tour
If you want to understand La Paz in a single, well-executed day, this is the tour to book.
We did a private city tour that included the cable cars and Moon Valley, and it delivered exactly what we were hoping for: a comprehensive, intelligently paced overview of the city’s must-see highlights.
Rolando was our guide, and he was excellent. He brought a strong depth of knowledge about La Paz — its history, political context, culture, and geography — and presented it in a way that felt both structured and conversational. He moved at a very good pace: efficient but never rushed. What stood out most was how well he adapted to our interests. When we wanted to go deeper on certain topics, he accommodated that. When we were ready to move on, he read that too. That flexibility matters on a private tour.
His English, while not perfect, was absolutely adequate with an attentive ear. With just a bit of patience on both sides, communication was smooth and never detracted from the experience. The substance of what he shared more than compensated — he is genuinely a wealth of knowledge.
The cable cars were a highlight. Riding above La Paz gives you a completely different perspective of the city — the scale, the topography, the density — it’s visually dramatic and surprisingly moving. It’s not just transportation; it’s an experience in itself.
Moon Valley was equally memorable. The landscape feels otherworldly and provides a striking contrast to the urban energy of the city. Seeing both in one day reinforces just how geographically unique La Paz is.
This tour really functions as a “catch-all” for the essential La Paz experiences. You could visit the city without doing this tour — but you would leave without the context and perspective that make the city make sense. It’s an efficient, high-value way to orient yourself and deepen your appreciation.
Our only minor critique: the tour ended in the market without arranged transportation back to our hotel. It wasn’t a major issue — we did some shopping, had lunch, and grabbed a very affordable Uber — problem solved. Still, having an optional transportation add-on (even at an additional cost) would improve the close of the experience.
Overall, this was a very strong private tour, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting La Paz. Rolando delivered a thoughtful, informative, and engaging day that gave us real insight into the city.

This walking tour was a...
This walking tour was a fantastic way to get to know La Paz. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and shared a lot of interesting context about the city’s history, culture, and daily life. The group size was small, which made it easy to ask questions and stay engaged throughout the tour.
The highlight was definitely taking the cable cars up to El Alto — the views over La Paz are incredible and give you a completely different perspective of the city. The visit to El Alto felt authentic and informative, not rushed at all.
Overall, it was a well-organized, insightful experience and a great introduction to both La Paz and El Alto. Highly recommended, especially if it’s your first time in the city.

Great Introduction to Aymara Mansions (Cholets) in El Alto
Very fun and informative tour of El Alto, a visit to several Cholets with their creative and meaningful designs and also a trip to the Whipala Condominiums. Natalia did a great job explaining everything and also providing me many insights into Bolivian life. Many thanks!

Nice trip
well organized trip! It starts really early but it is worth it. The group was about 20 people and our guide, Emerson, had a good voice and sometimes used a microphone and explained what we saw. It is a beautiful landscape. I had wished that the boat to and from Sun Island was a bit faster and that there were not too much waiting time after the visit at Sun Island so that we could leave from Copacabana a earlier than 18.00. Copacabana is not a big town and we had time to check it out before going to Sun Island. Our guide Emerson was very helpful and nice and after he had explained something he went around in the bus asking if we had any questions. He also helped me arrange for a taxi so I got home around 22.00. All in all, a very well organized and nice trip!

Beautiful sites, great tour. LOTs of driving.
Beautiful sites, great tour. I didn't even realize this was a private tour. Our tour guide Nat was great and the driver Diego was a joy. It is a LOT of driving (about 6 hours) to see two sites, but we enjoyed it. The tour guide kept us engaged, the boat ride in Lake Titicaca was delightful, even on a chilly day, and Tiawanku is enlightening.

Great introduction to La Paz and highly recommend it
The guide Natalie was so informative and i learnt alot about Bolivia. We also stopped in a local place for a local snack which was delicious. There were 8 of us in the group and she explained things in both English and Spanish. Riding the cable cars was great. The whole outing gave me more confidence to continue exploring La Paz independently. Thankyou very much!!!

Hard hike. Amazing views
This is definitely the second most physically challenging thing I’ve ever done in my life, but the view at the end was absolutely worth it. The tour guide was very kind and knowledgeable. He didn’t make me feel bad about taking a really long time to complete the hike (the altitude really got to me), and was super supportive the whole way.

We had a perfect experience to salar de Uyuni. Everything was perfectly organised by joker experience team.

Was slightly nervous...
Was slightly nervous about joining this on my own, but the team were lovely and I was quickly at ease! Damiano was super helpful with lots of facts about the area and preparing us for each part of the ride. I don’t have lots of biking experience so was often slower but everyone always waited at each check point. Really fun day and worth doing if you have a spare day in La Paz! And Gravity end at an animal sanctuary which was super cute and unique!

A super fun guide made this a super fun experience
Great fun and a safe way to experience the food and street food of Bolivia. Like all these trips, the success is down to the quality of the guide and Matt was terrific - fun, friendly and informative - he made the tour a 5 star experience. Highly recommended.
