Day Trips from La Paz to Copacabana

Journey to the shores of Lake Titicaca for a day trip from La Paz to the pilgrimage town of Copacabana. Organized visits center on the 16th-century Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana and a boat trip to the Isla del Sol, the legendary birthplace of the Inca civilization. However, choosing a guided excursion means someone else will handle the high-altitude, 3-hour drive and provide the cultural context required to experience this sacred Andean site properly. As well as visiting the lake itself, most itineraries also provide time to explore the agricultural terraces and Pilko Kaina ruins, as well as include a traditional lunch by the water.
