What are people saying about La Fortuna

Full Day Adventure
This was our only full day in La Fortuna and this excursion did not disappoint. Axel and Christian, our tour guides, were friendly and light hearted which made our long day more enjoyable. Both tour guides were extremely knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and accommodated to our needs (late arrival and restroom breaks). Our first stop was visiting one of the last Indigenous tribes in Costa Rica: Maleku. As a conscious traveler who tries my best to respect the ingenious people, locals, and nature of wherever I travel, I appreciated this portion at the beginning. We learned a little more about their traditional greeting, clothing, language, agriculture and artisanal products. Our favorite part was swimming in the waterfall area. We’d highly recommend water shoes with great grip, a waterproof phone pouch for photos, and a reusable water bottle with a filter. I had a hard time walking back up, so having fresh pineapple (the best ever) waiting for us at the top was so refreshing. We had breathtaking views of the volcano and surrounding landscape. We were able to see a couple of birds and wildlife. We loved that the hot springs were at the end of our tour so our bodies could relax. It was public so we didn’t stay too long because it felt a little overstimulating with the additional people. We ended up enjoying dinner at the more formal restaurant on the property. It was delicious and fresh! Overall, we highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Costa Rica!

Favorite activity in all of Costa Rica
Be sure to wear closed toed shoes, be prepared for some hills (both up and down), and bring water in a non-plastic container. Once you’ve got that covered, get ready for a fun, informative, exciting nature walk. We saw 2 types of monkeys, sloths, poisonous snakes, poisonous frogs, lizards of all shapes and sizes, lots of birds, the bridges are fun and give the most incredible views. Loved every minute of this. Highly recommended- especially if you can book with Jose Raul! He gave extra attention to detail and was full of information about the Costa Rican eco system. (And kept us laughing). Great for all ages as long as climbing/hiking uphill and downhill for a few hours is doable!

This was a really cool...
This was a really cool experience. We definitely recommend going first thing in the morning and taking the Mirador volcano viewpoint trail (not sure the exact name but it was the dirt trail off the Rufous Garden). We were all alone and walking through cloudy mist was beautiful. My 66 year-old mother and 8 year-old daughter were able to do this with no problems and only minimal complaining :-) This was a very cool experience and definitely worth it.

Multiple excursions in one!
We had the best time on this adventure! Our guides were knowledgeable and fun. The directions were very clear. We had a blast and would choose this again and again! It was so nice to have multiple different portions including zip lining, rappelling and jumping off waterfalls.

Boasting easy access to an inactive volcano, gushing waterfalls, and white-water rapids, La Fortuna is a popular base camp for outdoor adventures. And with the right booked excursion, nothing is off-limits. La Fortuna tours can safely lead you to your next adrenaline rush, whether it’s climbing to the soaring peak of Arenal Volcano, ziplining through the rainforest, or rafting the Sarapiqui River. If extreme adventure isn’t your thing, don’t fret. More relaxed options like guided nature walks or coffee and cacao tastings let you experience a quieter side of pura vida.
