Fantastic shore excursion with private guide and vehicle

We communicated with our guide Nori prior to our arrival in port and organised an itinerary. Nori our guide met us at the port with our driver and vehicle. She was a wonderful guide and we had a very interesting day, she arranged the day to try and stay out of the heat. We saw some beautiful countryside and some key places in Kyoto. We also had a taste of Japanese food at a large food hall. There were 2couples on this tour and we had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend this tour especially if you are on a cruise. Well organized tour with enriching experiences

I was grateful for how organized this tour was. The pick up from Osaka cruise terminal was perfect and our driver was efficient and flexible allowing us to see things off the beaten path. Tom our tour guide was very accommodating and gracious. We went during the Gion festivities in Kyoto and we got to see the floats which was a real thrill. The temples were spectacular. Kyoto itself is a very large city which surprised us, but they have managed to preserve the old city very well. Great tour which I highly recommend.

Hiro was an incredible...

Hiro was an incredible guide for our family. We brought our two daughters ages 8 and 10 and she prepared a bunch of toys and little stickers to keep them entertained while my husband and I enjoyed sake. We learned a lot and also really enjoyed talking with Hiro. She was flexible and patient with us and she went out of her way to help us to the train station we needed. Absolutely recommend this tour!

A leisurely stroll through kyoto

Rather than rushing to see multiple tourist sites through taxi’s, we opted to customize a tour that utilized public transportation and short walk through neighborhoods in Kyoto. We visited Fushimi Inari Taisha, then sanzyusangen-so, experienced Kyoto noodle, then walked through the old geisha district and finally Gion. We then concluded with shopping on then street past Gion. It was a really nice visit that gave us a local flavor. The tour guide was wonderful and communicated in advance so that we can customize the tour to our liking!

We went to the Engyoji...

We went to the Engyoji Temple where they filmed the Last Samurai. We were basically the only visitors there, so it was very peaceful as I had imagined. Our guide was very knowledgeable. We then went back to Kobe and had the best Kobe beef at Mouriya Lin. Some of us proceeded to walk back to the ship through the shopping streets. and the others were taken back by car. It was a most enjoyable day!

Leave it to the locals

We left our day in our guide, Ryan's capable hands. When he suggested a visit to a herb garden, we were somewhat sceptical, but WOW, it was fantastic and totally unexpected. A real hidden gem. After exploring the Nunobiki Herb Gardens we made our way through Kitano with their well preserved merchant homes. And no visit to Kobe would be complete without sampling their beef. Ryan took us to an area known only to locals, where we had lunch. The Ikuta Shrine was a touch of serenity before hitting Chinatown and the end of our walking tour.

Wonderfully tailored for 2 older couples!

We are two couples in our 70s. We move kind of slow and our hearing is not the best. We visited on a HAL cruise ship and we knew the large bus tours would be difficult for us, and the private HAL tours were amazingly expensive. Then we found the tours on Viator, which were reasonable. We hoped this would work, and it did! Our guide Aki tailored the tour perfectly for the 4 of us. She navigated us through the numerous subway and train stations - buying us the right tickets and showing us how to use them - and knowing how to walk from the train to the subway and back to the train. And walking slow enough, and using elevators and escalators. We could have never done it alone. We did the Carpentry Museum, the gondola ride to the herb garden and touring some of the garden, a lunch (she found something for the picky eaters in the group), a Shinto Temple, and a Sake tasting. We did everything we possibly could have done in 7 hours in Kobe. And there is no way we could have done half of it without Aki's expert guidance. We learned a bit about Kobe and Japan and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would highly recommend this experience. Being able to take a break when needed, and having the guide repeat what they said when needed, was just what we needed.

We had the most incredible time! This tour absolutely exceeded expectations and it was all due to our tour guide Reiko! She gave us so much information that we otherwise wouldn’t have known and even printed pamphlets for us to take home with specific details about sake and the fermentation process. She translated live for us during the tour inside of the brewery and made us feel so at ease and comfortable. The Kobe beef lunch was absolutely divine! We loved getting to sit and speak with her more to learn about Japanese culture and ultimately felt like we made a new friend. We truly cherished our time all together and cannot express how perfect this experience was! Thank you Reiko for a wonderful day in Kobe!
