Top Ireland Horseback Riding

We did the 2 hour ride through the surrounding Forrest with views of the cliffs, the Atlantic. It was an amazing experience to not only ride horses in the Irish countryside but to also learn so much about an area that is steeped in history. Peter paired us up with horses based on our experience level and was a wealth of knowledge. As a rider, I came in hopeful and was completely blown away by both the horse’s care and the quality of the entire experience. We cantered through the Forrest and the learned about the surrounding area, even identifying the local school house and famine ruins. I was very fond of the horse I was paired with. Romeo was adorable, cheeky, and every bit the perfect boy. Katrina was a sweet guide who took her time to chat about my horses back home, while also sharing fun facts about the area. The tour was a dream come true for me and a great reprieve from our busy lives at home. It was surreal and I look forward to snagging another opportunity to visit and ride with the team again!

We took the train from Dublin, dropped our things at our hotel and enjoyed a lovely ride through the national park in the waning hours of daylight. It was a delightful way to enjoy the beautiful scenery, learn a wee bit of local history, and experience the beauty of Killarney. This is not an in-depth tour, just a breezy jaunt through meadow and woods and was the perfect way to end our first day in Killarney.

This was a great tour and experience. Was great to get to see the cliffs from the sea! Our guide Shawn was great. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of insight into the country and this area. There are lots of options for tours and I’m so glad we went with the one going to rhe Aran Islands. YOU MUST go the horse drawn carriage ride on Ishineer island. They are given by locals who love on the island and the experience of learning from the locals is so important! Highly recommend for couples, families or even solo travelers.

10/10. This horse riding experience was a favorite of ours! The guide, Peter, made the whole experience with his warm, welcoming, and charming nature putting all of us beginners at ease as we saddled up for the first time. He took the time to learn each of our names and checked in with us multiple times on the ride to make sure everyone was comfortable and having a good time. The grounds and barn were definitely cared for by thoughtful staff and the horses were well-trained, respected, and healthy animals. Highly recommend adding this adventure to your trip!

Really a fantastic tour. But be aware it’s a small boat also the trek back from the end of the boat ride is 7 mile trip. You can have the option of a walk of 7 miles that is up and down Hill areas and you’re only given about three hours to make that walk or you can opt for a horse and buggy ride, which is really fun. however it has to be paid in cash and they don’t tell you the price when you book . It’s thirty-five euros a person. it’s worth it believe me. All in all it was just a wonderful scenic experience that was fabulous.

We had a fantastic jaunting car ride through Killarney National Park with Calvin and his lovely horse, Nancy. Despite the rainy weather, we came prepared—and thankfully, the jaunting car is covered and has warm blankets, so it was a comfortable experience. It’s what you’d expect in Ireland. Calvin, a Killarney local, was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so much interesting history and local insight throughout the ride. What made it even more special was knowing that Calvin is continuing a family tradition, just like the enduring presence of Ross Castle itself. This ride wasn’t just scenic—it felt like stepping into a living piece of Killarney’s heritage. Highly recommend this experience, rain or shine! We were not disappointed!!

Horseback riding through Killarney National Park was an unforgettable experience. The scenery—mountains, lakes, and forests—was absolutely breathtaking, and the guides made everything easy and enjoyable. We even came across a group of lounging Red Deer! A perfect way to take in Ireland’s natural beauty. Highly recommended!

It was an incredible experience. Everyone was incredibly nice and patient. Emily and Alexander explained everything welll and took lovely care of us. The horses were very friendly and good natured and the route we took was very beautiful. It's the perfect activity for both first time riders and people with experience on horse back.
