What are people saying about Helsinki

Beautiful woodland hike!
What a fun outing end of February. Stopped each way about halfway to/from Helsinki for restroom and any snacks. Our guide was fun, lots of good info, yummy lunch, and well worth heading out of Helsinki on this guided forest tour. Even provided spikes to put over boots so less slippery on ice. Brought hiking poles but didn’t need them.

Lake Plunge
We had a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our day began with a scenic two-mile hike through a stunning national park, where our absolutely fabulous guide, Mary, introduced us to the local flora and fauna with so much passion and knowledge.
At the midpoint, she amazed us by unpacking a 20–30 lb backpack filled with everything needed to create an incredible lunch—delicious salmon soup, fresh bread, blueberry juice, and warm cinnamon rolls. She even thoughtfully brought a vegan option for my friend, which we really appreciated.
After the hike back, we experienced a traditional, rustic Finnish sauna. After just a few minutes in the heat, we made our way into the cold lake. I was extremely nervous and didn’t think I could do it—but I trusted the process, took the plunge, and felt so proud and exhilarated afterward. We repeated the cycle four times, and each round left me feeling more refreshed, energized, and alive.
The experience ended with a relaxing 30-minute return to Helsinki. Thank you, Mary, for such a memorable and special day—we had an absolutely fantastic time.

Best Nuuksio tour you can find!
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to learn more about Finnish nature and get out of the city for a day! Patricia is an AMAZING guide! She’s friendly and informative and you can tell she’s passionate about nature and sustainability. It’s nice that the tour is small group (Max 8 people) because you get to set the pace. There’s definitely some uphill (stairs and trail hiking) but I would say that the overall hike is moderately easy and there are lots of breaks if you need them. The tour provided warm berry juice, sitting pads, snacks, and a very substantial lunch with vegetarian and meat options. They also had backpacks and crampons for those that need them. Overall I think it was a fantastic experience and would definitely do again.

Awesome tour! Sanna was great!
Awesome tour, lots of history and sights, fun ferry ride to the island. Sanna was an excellent guide, making sure no one got lost in Finland. She provided current and historical details of all locations. It was a great tour that hit all the major points of Helsinki in an afternoon, thanks!

Good tour, learned a lot of Finland history
Interesting tour, learned a lot. The guide told us a lot about Finland history as well as culture. He answered all our questions.
Porvoo was interesting, we got to walk around and check out the shops. Because of the time of year and weather the shops were pretty quiet but I’m sure in the summer months they are packed.

Great excursion out of Helsinki
This was a great experience. The hike was challenging (especially since it was mid February with fresh snow from the night before along the trail) on a particularly cold day. We hiked for about an hour to the shore of the Baltic Sea, and while our guide, Maria, made lunch, we walked across the ice to one of the small islands. We then had salmon soup for lunch. The tour company was very accommodating of our dietary needs (one woman is vegetarian and was given mushroom soup, and 2 do not eat dairy and were served the soup before the cream was added). I thought that the salmon soup was the best I’ve had since arriving in Finland. We then hiked back to the van. I thought Maria was an excellent guide and was able to tell us about the trees and the birds (I couldn’t believe we saw birds despite it being the middle of winter). Overall this was a really fun excursion.

Great way to spend a day in Finland
This was a wonderful day with Alex. Walking through the woods he pointed out the mushrooms, lichen, and birds around us. He shared information about Finland which is helpful in learning about a country and their culture.
He made a delicious Finnish lunch by the lake, salmon and potato soup.
The walk back to the vehicle was just as enjoyable-the ground looked like various shades of green carpeting. The nice part is also that the weather cooperated-no rain. No wind either until the end. Perfect day and a wonderful way to spend a day in Finland. Thanks Alex!

Charming Porvoo
Peter was a great guide. He told us of the history of the area and town during our drive to Porvoo as well as answering questions about his background. He provided detailed explanations while we were walking around the town. We also enjoyed the stop for coffee and treats! We would recommend this tour for anyone wanting a day trip from Helsinki

Whooper Swan Sighting
This hike involved bus rides to the national park an hour from Helsinki, and the time was well spent visiting with our guide. The hike was a bit strenuous and involved walking over granite rocks, walking through the restful forest and finally down (fortunately for me) about 300 stairs to our last stop at a 7 meter lake that flows into the Baltic Sea. We were fortunate to see a whooper swan, the national bird of Finland.
The hike was worth experiencing, and our guide was knowledgeable about both the flora and fauna of the park, and gave us other interesting information such as the vast number of lakes in the park, and in Finland, thanks to glacier activity during the ice age, only 10,000 or so years ago. He also told us about the bird population in the park and those flying over us on their way to warmer climes.
A word of caution, restroom facilities are about halfway through the hike.

Por Voo
Great tour. Sergio was very knowledgeable and a fun tour guide. This tour leaves from Helsinki on a public coach bus which is nice, clean and has a bathroom. The bus fare is included in the tour price. The ride is less than an hour. It rained on us so bring an umbrella as it is mostly outdoors. Lots of little shops with local crafts and trinkets for sale. There is a fair amount of walking with a couple of small hills over cobblestones. Sergio gave us an hour and ten minutes of free time in Por Voo to eat, wander and shop. I went to an Irish pub and talked to some locals.

The thing to do if you have only one day in Helsinki
This was the highlight of our week-long trip to Helsinki!
Driver picked us up and took us to port. You do need to go to the ticket office when you get there because the tickets you have through the app are for them to get you your tickets.
The rooms were a great addition to have. We took pictures on deck and then rested in the cabin the rest of the way. It takes a few hours between ports.
Tallin was a beautiful place. It was the real life version of the recreations you see at theme parks. Our tour guide Irina was wonderful and went at our pace for each site. We had the grandparents with us so we went a little more slowly than normal.
That said, it is very commercialized spot for the tourists, but it is a wonderful and relaxing atmosphere. VERY safe as well. All the police appear to be in plain clothes. We saw a drunk person and officers were on him very quickly and quietly. Removed him with hardly any notice.
Trip back was nice and easy as well.
Definitely recommend this one if you are in Helsinki and looking to fill a day.

Tallinn: Well worth the trip
It’s a 3-hour guided walking tour. And another 3 hours on your own to explore. Our guide was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable about the country’s history. She also gave us excellent restaurant recommendations and shopping suggestions. It was a long day, but it was also a lovely experience.
