Our hike and lunch in the national park with Alex was wonderful. Alex was very informative, kind, and helpful, including about dietary restrictions. His love of and knowledge about the natural history of Finland was very apparent. It was great to spend the day with him. I highly recommend this tour to those who love nature and want to experience something beyond the sights in Helsinki.

This was a wonderful day with Alex. Walking through the woods he pointed out the mushrooms, lichen, and birds around us. He shared information about Finland which is helpful in learning about a country and their culture.
He made a delicious Finnish lunch by the lake, salmon and potato soup.
The walk back to the vehicle was just as enjoyable-the ground looked like various shades of green carpeting. The nice part is also that the weather cooperated-no rain. No wind either until the end. Perfect day and a wonderful way to spend a day in Finland. Thanks Alex!

Our trip to the Taiga forest was a wish fulfilled. I had for many years looked forward to walking under the tall trees of Finland. Our guide, Jeff, enhanced that experience with his knowledge of the forest ecosystem and expertise on the huge varieties of mushrooms popping up everywhere. We picked blueberries, lingonberries, and mushrooms along the way and had a delicious lunch cooked over a fire. It was a really great day!

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip! Jeff provided everything needed for a comfortable hike in the Taiga forest. It was a bit rainy and we had no raincoats but Jeff provided them for us. We learned a lot about the mushrooms and berries and other plants in Finland. We actually collected edible mushrooms and cooked them over the fire along with a tasty Finnish lunch. Delicious!!! We gained a great appreciation and respect for the Finland forests and for the traditions and ways of the Finnish people. Jeff was extremely knowledgeable about the wild country of Finland! I would highly recommend this trip!

A brilliant day with a great guide, Didi. We were collected in central Helsinki at 09:00 and travelled by minibus to Liesjarvi National Park. We hiked for two hours, foraged for mushrooms and various berries and then enjoyed a super lunch by the fire which Didi prepared. We then hiked back to the bus and returned to Helsinki for 4pm. A truly memorable day. Highly recommended.

We were chauffeured 100km N of Helsinki to a very pleasant forest walk. I wouldn't call it a hike since it was more of a stroll perhaps due to the heat. Our guide Didi was great; she introduced many local plants, including berry picking. The food and location were great.

It is fantastic way to experience nature at its best, in its most pristine condition. The walk itself is pretty easy and at a gentle pace, giving plenty of scope for observing all the little plants, ant hills and massive trees, most enthusiastically named and described by Jeff. Then you get a fabulous lunch too with a lake view. What more could one want?

We had an amazing tour. Jeff was our guide and he took us on an amazing hike in the park through the forest areas and lakes. He was so knowledgeable about the trees, plants, and fruits growing in the park. He also showed us mushrooms and explained the various types. And he made us an amazing linch of mushrooms soup and bread. The hike to the lake was lovely and easy for most everyone

This was a wonderful excursion along mainly well kept paths although we did trek across some areas with no paths to add to our adventure. Our guide was very knowledgeable and has been hiking this area for many years. He took us to areas where controlled burns had taken place and told us about the succession of plants coming in for new growth. He took us to some bones of a deer that he has been watching for over two years now. The deer was mostly intact when he first found it and now only scattered bones are left. Our lunch was a wonderful bowl of salmon soup and bread with a pasta dessert all cooked over a campfire and all very good. He did make much effort to accommodate all food special requirements and I got the idea that he changes the menu sometimes according to guest preferences. Overall this was a wonderful excursion. It does cover several miles but the pace is very easy and we stopped often to talk about what we were seeing, so be aware that it is a physical excursion.

Jeff was an excellent guide, and a kind and empathetic person. He was full of knowledge about mushrooms and the Finnish flora and fauna. We had a really enjoyable trip, learnt so much about mushrooms and the Finnish culture, and loved cooking up the mushrooms at our Airbnb afterwards. I'd highly recommend this trip (and have already recommended it to a friend who is visiting Helsinki soon).

We enjoyed this excursion very much. It’s a favorite memory of this trip to Helsinki for my nature-loving son. I recommend it if you want to see something outside the city without hassle. Very friendly for kids who have some attention span and ability to hike/walk.
Details:
We had good communication from the tour organizer, including messages about potential delays for our pickup. The drive to the forest was over 1.5 hours with a stretch break at a gas station.
I enjoyed the hike. The park was peaceful with few people in it (perhaps with the weekday and the end of summer holidays). The hike itself is easy with a clear flat trail. There was a break halfway to rest and enjoy the scenery. No running water at the park but there are clean ‘dry toilets.’
The forest environment had lots of blueberries and lingonberries to pick on our visit. There were many mushroome to identify: brittle, boletus, shelf brackets, amanite, destroying angel.
Alex our guide pointed out interesting details on the hike. He was very solicitous with our comfort and enjoyment of the excursion. He prepared a nice lunch of hot soup, bread, and a sweet.
Overall, a good experience that matched my expectations!

This was a great excursion! Even before the trip, I was emailed about my dietary restrictions, which they accommodated.
The meeting spot was centrally located, and our guide, Alex, was already there to meet us. He gave us a quick overview of the day, and let us know that he had ponchos, sunscreen, and insect repellent for each of us if we needed it.
The trail itself was beautiful- great to be in nature after spending a couple of days in the very busy industrial city. The trail was lined with blueberry plants, and Alex shared interesting details about the plants and animals that we encountered. The campground was great and had the cleanest camp bathrooms I’ve ever seen. We had time to explore the area while he prepared our meal. He made salmon soup (chanterelle soup w/o dairy for me), toasted rye bread, and served blueberry juice and cake. Our hike was well-paced - not too fast or slow, and the terrain was quite manageable. It did rain m, and the mosquitos were buzzing, so we all appreciated the ponchos and insect repellent.
I highly recommend this trip for nature lovers. We saw frogs, swans, even a toad. I loved seeing the variety of mushrooms on dead trees the most! I’d love to go back and experience this company’s archipelago trip. Make sure to bring a refillable water bottle - Alex had a big jug, but they don’t provide individual bottles.
