This trail begins in the Machico valley in the southeast part of the island and consists of a flat course of about 6.5 km, with an easy degree of difficulty. Also known as the Vale das Mimosas, you can admire magnificent views of the Machico Valley (where Portuguese navigators landed for the first time) and the Desertas Islands. Along this trail you can observe agricultural fields, where vegetables and fruit are grown by the local population and enjoy some of the exotic flowers along the way.

Begin with pickup from your hotel on the island of Madeira. Start the hike near the beginning of the old road that connects the village of Caniçal to Machico. The Madeira Theme Park, located in the city of Santana, is a fantastic exhibition center dedicated to the history, science and tradition of the Madeira Islands. It occupies an area of 145,000 m2 and should not be missed by visitors; it is the only one of its kind in Portugal. The Park's main attractions are the four multimedia pavilions; "Discovery of the Islands", "Future of the Earth", "Fantastic Voyage in Madeira" and "A World of Islands, The Islands of the World". A replica of the Monte train, traditional oxcarts and nets, a traditional Santana. The visit to the garden area is open to all, an open space area disclosing some specimens of the island indigenous flora, and footpaths, which are also among some interesting features of this cultural and scientific attraction.

The Levada do Norte is one of the largest and most important of the island, which runs through much of the region. This magnificent stretch of the Levada do Norte begins just below the well known Cabo Girão, leading hikers to the area of Boa Morte in Ribeira Brava. It is a very pleasant and easy trail that can be done all year round, because is located in the southern part of the island, where the climate is milder. Along the way, you can enjoy the fantastic views that arise, which highlight the parishes of Câmara de Lobos and Campanário. In these views the hiker can also observe the green fields, the carefully worked plantations and a set of houses and buildings that form the villages. Occasionally, you may find some people of the area that is handling their land, or just taking a walk. This circular route has as its starting and ending point at the Forest Park of Ribeiro Frio, an area widely visited by tourists and residents. The climb continues until reaching Chão das Feiteiras, a leisure area used by many Madeirans to enjoy time outdoors with family and friends. The route then descends down a section of stone path to Ribeiro Frio.

Beginning in the area of Refertas, Porto da Cruz, this trail leads hikers through a journey filled with several species of endemic flora and fauna, as well as beautiful landscapes that show some of the beauty and tradition of this island. In the first part of the journey you can admire the imposing Rock of Penha dÁguia and the picturesque buildings that constitute the nearby villages. You can also enjoy the small plots and agricultural crops, carefully crafted by area residents. At the end of this walk you will find a beautiful place with small lakes that are formed by the pure and crystalline water brought in by the river. Enjoy all the surroundings and take time to relax for a while. After resetting the energies, it is time to return, following the reverse path.
