What are people saying about Bucharest

Don't Miss
The trip to Peles Castle,. Brasov and Bran Castle was well worth it. Although it was a lengthy day from Buchapest to these sites, there was not enough time to see Brasov. This was due in part to not getting the first of the day tickets for Peles Castle and the exceedingly slow service at a restaurant in Brasov for lunch. Touring Bran Castle was very interesting but requires a lot of climbing. Sergio, our guide and driver, was pleasant, knowledgeable and able to ensure we got in places with ease.

Rich Cultural Experience
Great day trip to northern Bulgaria out of Bucharest! Our visit enhanced our vacation and provided a more nuanced understanding of the region, including 20th century history and local interpretation of the communist era. Be prepared for several hours of driving, including some stop and go. Bathroom stops were available as needed. We strongly considered driving this ourselves, something we have done in other European countries, and at the end of the day we were very glad we went with a driver. Seban Riga was our guide and took incredibly good care of us, enriching the journey with both historical facts and local perspectives. He was energetic, engaging, and thoughtful to ensure the trip exceeded all of our expectations. It is wise to have some Euros on hand, as the modest entrance fees to some of the sites may not take cards. We also paid gratuity in Euro, and could have paid in Lei.

The best ghost tour I’ve been on
I have probably been on a dozen ghost tours in various cities and this tour was the best one that I have ever been on. Our guide, Tudor, was absolutely amazing and a fantastic storyteller. He was able to tie in stories and landmarks from stops at the very beginning of the tour to the legends told at the end of the tour. These full-circle moments were so cool and it makes you appreciate how unique Romanian folklore and myths are.

Mario karts in Bucharest
This exeprience is one not to miss seeing the town in a mini hot rod. Looking at the beautiful city and the amazing buildings while feeling like you are in your own little game. The tour guide was amazing and took some amzing photos and videos of our experince. The group was small so felt better the guide kept us all together and safe. I would do this again it was so much fun.

Hidden Gem
This was easily the nicest bar I visited in Bucharest. Not at all touristy. I was the only one doing a tasting but that didn't detract from the experience. Was given interesting explanations for each wine, then allowed time to enjoy them while nibbling the generous portion of cheeses and cold meats.
If I was a local, I'd be a regular in this bar. Book this experience, it's a couple of hours well spent.

Lucia brings the history to life
We had a blast and learned a semester’s worth of college level history/political science. Lucia is actually college educated on what she is talking about. She has obviously retained a great deal more than I ever did. The pace of ride and information was very comfortable. What a beautiful city to see by bike. We have done quite a few bike tours, and this one definitely stood out for it’s easily digestible content that provided so much perspective on the communist past, the Ceauscescu years, and the Roman/Ottoman influences that persist even today. We had walked around the day before, but would have missed so much had we not rode with Lucia. Great bikes, too! Thank-you for water, chocolates, and personal history!

Best in the business. Guide for the Day, Friend for Life!
Christina was just a joy as a guide. Not only does she know the city like the back of her hand and the history of Romania, but she had so many personal and differing perspectives to share about various events. It was invaluable time spent together. We spent more time together than our allotted time just due to good conversations. I would highly recommend her to anyone coming to Bucharest.
And Bart lost out on her great potential! She is a gem!!!

Walking the streets of Bucharest
The private tour of communism was amazing. Our guide Andra met us at our hotel lobby so we did not have to locate a separate location. Andra was very informative and honest. She shared many first hand personal experiences from her family life. This approach made the experience come alive. She planned the walking tour in a very sequential manner helping us to understand how the rule of communism affected the population. At the conclusion of the tour she asked how she could help us. As a result she walked with us to our next location. We highly recommend this tour and Andra as a guide. Worth every penny. You won’t be disappointed.

Worthwhile
We found ourselves with a day to spare in Bucharest and this was a very good option. Although the journey is quite long, the views into Veliko Tarnovo gorge are beautiful. For us, the real highlight was Arbanasi's Church of the Nativity with its simply stunning frescoes. We had to find our own way there, but it's only 10 minutes' walk and not to be missed.

An excellent tour
Toni was excellent at giving us an introduction to the city.. We thought the open air Museum was lovely and beautiful and well worth a visit.
My favorite part was seeing some historical sites in the city and hearing about the history of communism in Romania. I appreciated the the refresher course on the fall of communism. I remember vividly watching it on the news as it was happening years ago, but being in the place where it happened really brought it to life. We definitely would recommend this tour.

An excellent overview of Bucharest’s history and culture.
We both had a very enjoyable time with Alina. Her knowledge and enthusiasm of Bucharest was excellent and the tour was full of interesting facts about the local customs, history and culture of the city and what it’s like to live in Bucharest over the past decades and which still very much lives on today.
I would very much recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city. We found a great help having it early on in our day as it was a was a great starting point for the few days we spent in Bucharest.
If you’re lucky enough to have Alina as your guide that will be an extra bonus.
