What are people saying about Bayeux

Val was a great guide for...
Val was a great guide for our full day tour. He was very knowledgeable about all the sites we visited and had information to explain each stop on the tour. He had many pictures for each stop to explain what happened there and information about the people involved, which helped to further our understanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and would highly recommend this tour.

Nice Way to See Omaha Beach
We did about 20 to 30 miles bike ride from Bayeaux. Our guide Theo was lovely and the ride back along the cliff is beautiful. We saw things we wouldn’t have found on our own - the castle where the Nazis did their planning for the Atlantic Wall, the hill where the Allies distributed their fuel and bunkers. The visitors center at Omaha Beach was great and we already knew a lot of the information before going in. Recommend for a bit of physical activity and to enjoy the landscape and history.

Excellent-Informative-Comfortable Tour of Normandy
Excellent tour of the Normandy area with a smaller group of 8. Avoided crowds, saw the entire Coast, small towns, farmland with hedgerows and the American Cemetery. Our guide was excellent. So very knowledgeable, considerate and kept the 9 hour tour interesting for all. Well worth the money and the time.

Outstanding Tour
We consider ourselves really blessed to have chosen Neptune Battle Tours for our visit to Normandy. Our guide was "Boy". (He is also the owner of Neptune Tours!!)
Boy was phenomenal! I couldn't imagine a more professional, flexible, or knowledgeable guide for our visit to Normandy.
We (my wife and I) started the day by getting off our train from Paris in the wrong town!! (Caen instead of Bayeux!!) Boy didn't hesitate at all. Once we realized why we couldn't find each other outside the Bayeux train station, he was immediately back on the road, headed to Caen to find his lost clients! No recriminations, no smirking, just polite and efficient flexibility to make things feel seamless to us.
Some skills and traits that Boy has that we felt at EVERY stop on the day:
Knowledgeable - Boy knows the Normandy Campaign. Not just D-Day...but the Normandy Campaign. He opened our own perspectives to understand a much larger picture than we had when starting the day.
Personal Knowledge - Boy has met people. Veterans of D-Day. Veterans of the Campaign. Historians. Family members. Foundation leaders. His gentle manner and genuine interest has helped him to accumulate a TON of information, background, personal anecdotes, and different perspectives on the history all around you in that area.
Manner - Boy shares his wealth of knowledge without ever appearing to lecture or seem to be reading any type of script or check-list. He truly shares what he knows in a way that makes what could be an overwhelming flow of info become a series of personal observations about what we were seeing.
Pleasant - Boy is just a nice guy! He never forced conversation, or allowed awkward silences. It was just a fun day with someone we felt we could call "friend" by the time we said good-bye at the train station. (On time, and at the correct station!!!) It was our very first private tour, 1-on-1 with a guide. We were a bit nervous and wondering about spending a day with a stranger. Well, that "stranger" thing stopped about 5 minutes after he picked us up. And it never felt forced.
We felt all of those skills throughout the very full, but unhurried, day. I understand why his reviews are all so positive.
We strongly recommend planning your trip to the D-Day beaches so that you can engage Boy for a day.

Very good, with caveats
Suffice it to say that it was 104 degrees the day we took this tour and we're in our 70's - so it was very hard. Of course, the weather is not the guide's fault. Michael was very good, friendly and spoke good English as he gave us some history of MSM on the way. The van was OK, but the AC wasn't as good as some vans and, of course, those stuck in the third seat can't see as well. Nonetheless, there were 8 of us on the tour, including one lady who walked with a cane and immediately realized she wasn't cut out for the hike up the hill to the abbey.
I'm glad we chose this tour instead of trying to tour the abbey ourselves because there is so much to see and learn that it would have been impossible without a guide. Michael seemed to know all the facts and was patient and encouraging of us as we climbed the 300 steps. I was sorry, though, that we only had one hour to eat lunch and visit any shops in town after the tour. Then we had to hurry back to the shuttle stop (1/4 mile, no shade, full heat) and wait in the long line (30 min.) to return to our van in the parking lot. The drive back to Bayeux was a bit hair-raising. I couldn't see the speedometer, but we were definitely passing every car on the road. As a result, we got back 30 minutes early, feeling like we could have used that 30 minutes to look around the shops in MSM a little more. Nevertheless, it was a good tour. Just be aware that you must be in good shape to do it.

Humbling experience
This was a lovely and very humbling experience. Helen our guide is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the topic. We had our tour during a massive heat wave with 30+ degree weather and Helen made sure we were doing okay and stopped for water and drinks and even provided us with umbrellas. I would recommend this tour

DDay remembered thanks to a wonderful guide
What a great experience with the help of our guide Lucy. From pickup to drop off nothing was missed and in a challenging overly busy period we met our objective of getting to each site for experience that I was looking for. Our guide was informative, pleasant, and really took care to make sure each member of the group was able to enjoy all of the locations we wanted to see and come away with a great memory. What made it impactful is the guide truly cared for each person and saw we were not lost in all the busy activities which brings perhaps the most people to DDay celebration in Normandie. Highly recommend the company and the guide and to do the tour b if you want to avoid crowds choose a day other than June 6. But we managed well. Bring attire for the weather as we experienced three seasons in one day. Thank you Lucy

This day was an amazing...
This day was an amazing experience, it was so well organized and our guide Mathieu was extremely knowledgeable and kept us interested all day. He was personable and shared so much, answered questions, provided stories about events as well as facts . He was willing to expand on areas our group had the most interest in. He joined us at our table for lunch and that was wonderful, most guides have not in my experience but we found it to be a great personal touch.
Our day of exploration of the D day events , beaches and the visit and impact of the American Cemetery was even more than we expected it could be.

Paul is a rock star D-Day beaches tour guide!
Paul was excellent! He shared so much knowledge, and I felt we heard compelling stories that are often not heard in other tours. He also gave us periodic free time to absorb certain sites--the museum, the cemetery and lunch--with hints on how to get the most out of each place. I would recommend him to my friends!

A brilliant authentic experience for the family.
Amazing experience with my sons and husband.
Far from
gimmicky this is the real deal.
These guys know the routes and all the historical facts and will transport you to places the more touristic operations won't take you. Like the vantage point above Omaha beach. Their historical knowledge is second to none, their sense of fun puts the kids into a great frame of mind and the retro experience a brilliant way to do this. Could not recommend it enough

D Day Omaha Beach Tour
We booked the Omaha Tour for 20th Sept 2025. Pascal our guide from the company Ophorus was outstanding.
His knowledge is excellent and passes this on in a very interesting and friendly manner with some humour thrown in.. We were a family of four from the UK. It was a pleasure to meet Pascal and recommend this tour to anyone thinking of doing this tour.
Stephen, Lynne, Bobby and Debs.

Highly recommend the tour & our guide ROMA
Our English guide Roma was excellent! She was very knowledgeable and knew how to tell the complex history in a way that was easy to understand. She was not only a great communicator but also a very friendly and lovely person! She drove us to places that would be hard to navigate on our own. I highly recommend Roma and the D-day tour.
