Great Value & Experience
My guide was Sandra and my driver was Jordy. Easy to find meeting point, clean & comfortable bus, and perfect guidance on all that is Monserrat. Sandra did a great job in leading our group in both English & Spanish/Catalon. She was engaged at the right level & added appropriate humor along the way. She is very knowledgeable of this destination and gave excellent instructions as needed. Jordy’s driving was great - safe, timely and reliable. Thank you!

A fun day out of the city.
This tour was managed by Castlexperience Wine Tours. Our guide, Mayi, was educational, engaging and fun! She shared a lot of history about the Basílica. When we went to the winery, she taught us about the wines over lunch. Mayi was careful to manage any dietary choices/restrictions. The tour left and returned on time and the bus provided was comfortable and clean.

Amazing hike, geography, history, and guide!
Christian was our guide for this Montserrat trip. Christian was knowledgable, added lots of context to our journey, and kept us safe & on time with the hike.
Christian did a great job making it clear how long we'd have to explore each place, and where to meet back. The hike was not too strenuous, and had various break points to talk about the scenery and history. Very well done!

Montserrat - Naturally beautiful
Our travel to Montserrat was more than we expected. Certainly rich is religious and cultural history, it was also a reminder of the sacredness of nature’s cathedral. Our guide Alan was both knowledgeable and informative, an excellent storyteller and naturalist. Our time lasted six hours, truly a half day.

Worth the trip, book the side quests in advance
Meeting place directions were spot-on, and Rafael did a tremendous job of setting us up for success. The bus ride was comfortable, and the guide on the bus speakers was funny and informative. Montserrat was pleasant and charming, and the views of the surrounding mountains were striking. We saw the black Madonna and went up the Santa Joao funicular, both of which were an extra charge that we didn’t expect, but that could’ve been our misunderstanding.

Beautiful monastery and...
Beautiful monastery and church. The Black Madonna. Wear comfortable shoes if you want to walk out to the observation spot since it’s all uphill. Pau was wonderful, considerate and extremely knowledgeable.

When to visit

Choose from half-day Montserrat Mountain tours or full-day excursions with a stop at a cava winery for wine tasting.
Trips last anywhere from four to 10 hours, depending on the option you choose.
Montserrat Monastery is wheelchair accessible, as is the cog railway leading there. Other parts of the mountain, including the funiculars, are not accessible.
Bring layers, as Montserrat, especially the top of the mountain, is cooler than nearby Barcelona.
Wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes on your Montserrat tour or visit, especially if you plan to make use of the trail network.
