Itinerary

Depart from a centrally located pickup point in Zurich and relax during the scenic journey to Engelberg in a luxurious air-conditioned coach. Hear captivating tales about the history and tradition of the village as you drive and feel your excitement heighten as you approach the enchanting enclave cradled by the Swiss Alps.

On arrival, disembark to enjoy some leisurely free time (approximately 3 hours) for independent exploration, without your guide. Visit the renowned Benedictine monastery that dominates the quaint village center, venturing inside to see Switzerland’s largest organ. Stroll the charming streets and revitalize with local delicacies in a restaurant or café (own expense) and then reconvene with your guide for the return journey to Zurich.

On the way back, stop at Lucerne for one hour to explore that captivating city at your leisure, and then relax during the remainder of the journey back to the original departure point in Zurich.

I definitely recommend this day trip. Engelberg was my favorite town I went to visit in Switzerland. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and very kind. My parents and I loved this day trip. Everything was perfect.

Thank you for your feedback on the tour. The excursion 'Engelberg Day Trip from Zurich with Lucerne Stop' includes a guided bus journey to Engelberg. In this vacation destination, the village of Engelberg, our guests have 3 - 3.5 hours of free time to explore the surrounding area. There is the monastery church with the largest organ in Switzerland to visit, or a short walk (15 min) around Lake Eugeni, ideal for getting some fresh air, or the old village center with its cafés and stores, and above all the view of the surrounding mountains. I don't know whether it was a misunderstanding about the time for the onward journey or whether you were already back at the bus after 1.5 hours waiting for the onward journey. In fact, there were a lot of visitors and skiers on the Titlis that day and the tour guide who had accompanied the guests up the mountain could not prevent to leaving Engelberg with 30 minutes delay. The 1-hour visit to Lucerne was also kept to schedule. We arrived in Zurich in the evening with a delay of around 30-40 minutes. We are very sorry if this delay had a negative impact on your evening program, but we are pleased that you enjoyed your trip to Engelberg and Lucerne in Central Switzerland. We would be delighted to welcome you back as guests on another of our great trips at a later date.

Absolutely magical time

Not enough words to describe how great this was. The stop at Lucerne was great. Enough time to see some sites quickly and grab some souvenirs. We left the others that were going up the mountain at Engelberg and a short 5 Min stroll we were in the town. Strolling through the streets, having nice beer and lunch in the historical and beautiful scenery. Very relaxed 3 hours to do as we liked.

In general a nice tour, but do not go on a rainy day.

It was a nice enough tour, but not ideal for a rainy day. Given that it was a Saturday, most things were closed, and there was really nowhere to be inside during the rain. Our tour was combined with the Mt. Titlis tour, and the tour guide went with those going to Mt. Titlis, so those of us doing the Engelberg tour were left unescorted, which was fine. He did a nice job recommending seeing the monastery. They give you 3.5 hours in Engelberg but an hour would have been sufficient on a rainy day. Overall a nice tour, just not a good place to be in the rain.

It was wonderful, so unreal and peaceful. The tour guides were very nice. I only wish we could spend 30 min more in Lucerne and may be stop in Astrid Chapel, the view was incredible. The hiking and promenade in Engelberg was amazing. Thank you.

I was not at all happy with the way this tour was planned out. We thought that it was going to be a guided tour of Engelberg just as many of our other tours by this company were, but instead we were just provided a bus service. There were 4 other tour groups in the bus with us and every group was just dropped off and picked up at their locations without any knowledge of what to do or see. Also, while Engelberg was a beautiful place to be, it is a ski resort town and as it was summer, there was very little to do. Almost all of the shops and restaurants open around 2 or 3 pm but we were taken there in the morning so everything was closed. Overall, this was a shuttle bus service, not a day tour, and I wouldn't recommend booking with this company. I do, however, recommend visiting Engelberg on your own time when the shops are open and there are things to do around.

I upgrade this tour to so I could experience Mt Titlis, Emil our guide was incredible, friendly, funny and full of information, I hope if you sign up for this tour your guide is Emil. Once of the best tour guides out there, As for the trip, It was one of the best i have done, So happy I upgraded, even with the rain I enjoyed it so much, The 3 gondolas rides, the view and the sledding was so much fun, Make sure you walk through the Ice cave and grab a bite to eat in the restaurant. Also the 1 hour stop over in Lucerne is a beautiful spot for lunch and walking around, the painted buildings are breathtaking Take a walk over the ice flyer and see the amazing views and grab some great photos, 100 recommend this tour.

Beautiful town, but be aware this is NOT a led tour. You ride to Engelberg with another tour going to Mt. Titlis. When you get off the bus, the guide points you towards the center of town (no map) and tells you a few things to do. If you don't have good navigating skills, it may be a challenge.

Unfortunately on the day we had booked bad weather prevented us from going to Engleberg. Instead we were taken to Mount Rigi for a train trip up the mountain and back down by cable car. We then went to spend a couple of hours in Lucerne. It was a good experience but we were looking forward to the village trip. This was a trip hastily put together in order not to let people down, so overall they did well.
