I really enjoyed this tour and would happily recommend it. Our guide was fantastic - friendly, knowledgeable and informative, which made the whole experience even better.
Rhine Falls was the highlight for me. I opted to do the optional boat ride and I’m so glad I did. It gets you right up close to the falls, where you can really appreciate the power and scale of the water. If you’re considering the boat ride, do it! It added so much to the experience and was definitely one of my favourite parts of the tour.
Stein am Rhein was also lovely - such a picturesque little town with beautiful historic buildings and plenty of character. It was a nice contrast after the drama of the falls and a lovely place to wander around.
The whole trip was well organised, relaxed and an easy way to see two beautiful places outside Zurich without having to worry about transport or planning!
This tour was perfect for the afternoon of our arrival day after 17+ hours of travel. Easy to find pickup spot. Bus ride to beautiful location. Information and boat tickets provided on tour. Half day allowed us time to get back have dinner and begin our adjustment to the current time zone.
Very Informative and the falls we're impressive.
Our guide was very good in describing the points of interest.
We were going to do this trip on our own but my husbands back went out so we booked this tour thinking it would be easier on him. It was a fabulous afternoon. Our guide, Stephan, gave some historical info. Coach bus was great. Plenty of time to see the falls and the time allotted for Stein am Rhein was great. We stopped at a wine cafe and the hostess was fantastic. Really a lovely afternoon and we were so greatful that Viator offered this tour as we were not able to do it on our own.
Very excellent tour with a very experienced tour guide! Weather was beautiful and the whole trip was well worth it!
This tour is not worth your money. First off, even paying $100+ per person doesn’t even include everything. You have to pay extra money for a boat ride at the falls. Second, our guide was at least 75 years old and was extremely slow at explaining things and “guiding us.” We ended up just guiding ourselves to see more. Our guide also said to get to the boat ride at the falls was “a FEW STEPS”, there was about 250+ STEEP steps to get down to the water. If you have limited mobility, you will not be able to make it. Thankfully we were mobile but “a few steps” was extremely misleading, it was a complete uphill hike to get back up. Another downer was there were 3 people in our tour who didn’t care about the return time at the falls and we ended up waiting 20 minutes for them while they were sitting directly in front of the bus eating and drinking a beer. Our guide was so old that he couldn’t find them and we sat and waited. Which meant we got 20 minutes less in Stein am Rhein which sucked. Once there, we ditched our guide and walked the paths ourselves. We felt like we paid $200+ for a bus ride. You can easily take the train to the falls for much cheaper. I would not recommend this tour to anyone.
Victoria was a wonderful guide and very friendly. We enjoyed the boat ride and falls tour as well as the walking tour of the medieval town.
Right amount of time. Not rushed. Able to see everything expected with time to do your own exploring.
The tour of this Rhine Falls and Stein am Rhein was very good. Although, a lot of time is spent on the motor coach going from each place. I would recommend this tour.
Loved seeing the beautiful Rhine Fall and the castle around it. The village of Stein at Rhine ‘Stein am Rhine’ was lovely. Highly recommend it.
The falls were amazing but there are a fair amount of stairs to get to the best views and the boat so if you have mobility concerns it something to consider. Stein Am Rhein was beautiful and tha architecture and paintings on the storefront were magical. Loved it
Interesting visit to Rhine Falls and Am Stein- easier than using public transport. Swati was pleasant but seemed inexperienced. She needs either a microphone and guest headsets or needs to learn to project her voice. The timing of Am Stein to me is odd as even on a Monday many shops are closed.
Fun boat ride up to the waterfall and great pictures! A lot of stairs but they're doable. The town was beautiful with lots of old buildings, shops and restaurants. Great tour.
Bernadette was enthusiastic and excellent. Bus trip through countryside was enjoyable to see the varied terrain . Must take boat ride (at extra cost) to Falls. Steep walk down and up to Falls. Falls are interesting but not spectacular. Stein on Rhine was an unexpected treat, with beautiful old timbered houses with murals.
This was a wonderful tour, rain smoothly except when we were ready to leave a group of 5 delayed us as there were rudely sitting at a table and not even acknowledging we were there. The tour guide had to go get them to come on bus it waited more than enough time and luckily recognized who there were. Both locations were excellent and we were definitely informed of what to do and where to go. The falls were amazing and I recommend not paying extra to do the boat were standing on the platform and extra excellent views
This was a great excursion and was a lot of value for the money. Be sure to take advantage of the cheap boat ride near the falls to get some good photos. The guide was top notch. Highly recommend.
This was a great tour. The Rhine Falls were magnificent. Our tour guide arranged a boat for just our group so we were not squashed.
Overpriced. The tour guide was informative. They should not wait for anyone who is late. We waited about 1l20 minutes to board the bus at the last stop because 5 people were late.
Definitely pay the extra fee and take the boat ride up to the waterfalls. Kay was worth it. The village tour of Stein am Rhein is very neat. Nothing like it.
The trip to the fall was spectacular. The hike to the falls was a moderate. The viewpoint was amazing. The boat ride was good, didn’t get wet. Highly recommended
Wear comfortable shoes to take in the whole wonderful experience. It is amazing...the tour director, the location for pick up and drop off...the drive was scenic too and safe! Once you get there you encounter the most beautiful scene!!!
If the weather is hot make sure you have personal fans. The boat ride to the falls was fun and the town of Rhein en Stein was very pretty.
I went on the tour to see the largest falls in Europe. Loved it, but the quaint little town we went to afterwards blew me away!! cutest cutest little town I’ve ever been to.
Those was a wonderful tour! Renata was delightful! She shared great information at each stop and even though there is currently a drought we loved the beautiful falls!
Bus ride. Audio descriptions on way to falls. At falls, you’re given option to take a short boat ride, TAKE IT! Beautiful falls especially close up. Not much time to linger, back on bus to Stein. Good town walk, but could’ve used more time. Calm there, lots of locals mixed with tourists.
Tour was good just thought the falls would be bigger. The day was beautiful and the town was lovely.
The bus tour was well organized and enjoyable from start to finish. The bus was clean and comfortable. Our tour guide, Olga, was enjoyable and informative. The itinerary was well planned. Overall, it was a great experience and would definitely recommend this tour if you’re looking for a relaxing and informative way to see the sights, I would highly recommend the Grindelwald, Interlaken & Lauterbrunnen bus tour.
Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes and that you arr able to climb stairs. There is a lift to take you down to the Falls, but if you take the lift back you will miss some of the best views of the Rhine Falls. Bernie and George were our tour guides and both were lovely people. Nothing was too much trouble. Bernie gave excellent information about everything we saw. We would highly recommend this tour.
What a great day! The Falls were wonderful and the boat rode is well worth it for a closer look. Thomas was a wonderful tour guide and Stein em Rhein was very quaint and a lot of history
Positives: Falls are scenic and many opportunities for photos. Stein am Rhine is beautiful walk back in time. Cute shops and restaurants along cobblestone streets.
Negative: Bus ride is long and not scenic. Not enough time at Stein am Rhine.
