Cozy cabin bucket list aurora tour

menachemmliss, Jan 2026
Very positive experience, Tracy is was very hospitable, made everyone bannock soda bread and a chowder. We saw the aurora and were able to use the outhouse if access to bathrooms and increased comfort are important to you this is a premium option for aurora viewing, and a unique and different experience than going on the bus. Tracy also shared knowledge about The Northwest Territories, indigenous cultural history and aurora borealis not shared by the hunting tours. Highly recommend this tour and go soon before the solar minimum of 2027 starts. You can even go early September or end of August if you still want to do canoeing and hiking during the day and aurora viewing at night with early autumn aurora photos reflecting off the lakes or go now in March when the ice castle tour opens up!

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank You very much, for sharing so much detail. We really appreciate. Tracy

Delicious Aurora adventure!

Matt_C, Dec 2025
Well, while the night was mostly a bust regards seeing the auroras, we did quite enjoy the experience and ambiance, not to mention the fresh and very tasty chowder and bannock! Easily the best aurora viewing tour out there! Highly recommend!

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank You so much. So appreciate your kind review. Tracy

Hospitality is a Habit

Nancy_V, Dec 2025
The cozy cabin aurora viewing was so very enjoyable! Our hostess prepared a delicious fish chowder and bannon and a special treat in the hot chocolate! Her fur coat collection is unmatched all available to wear for photos! Mother Nature’s light show was hindered by the clouds - but the entire experience was just what we wanted to celebrate Christmas - intimate where hospitality is a habit!

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Wow! Thank You so kindly. We appreciate your review. Tracy and Sim

Best & Reliable Northern Light trip.

Elaine_W, Oct 2025
Tracy is our tour guide and Sim is our driver. Both are very sweet, caring, honest, knowledgeable and friendly throughout our trip. Tracy prepared us Bannack & soup in the middle of the night to keep us warm. Sim also helped us took lots of beautiful Aurora photos. Tracy also provided us camera tripods to take beautiful Aurora photos because she cares. I can assure that only Tracy’s Aurora trip has the warm cabin, late night supper and camera tripods being provided. I recommended this trip to everyone and is the best Northern Light trip in Yellowknife so far because I got join other Northern Light trip in Yellowknife like Yellowknife Vacation and is truly sucks! You won’t go wrong with Tracy’s trip even when there is no Northern Lights at all.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Oh wow you are to Kind. We appreciate your wonderful review. Tracy and Sim.

Oh the best on-the-spot aurora tour in Yellowknife!

KinYanMegan_L, Oct 2025
Oh its just amazing. The end. Hahah! Tracy has a great area for aurora viewing, we were lucky to see one of the strongest sub-storm in months at Tracy’s place. You can see and feel with naked eyes that the Earth is indeed round, not flat! Haha! The lights filled up the entire sky, all dancing, what an amazing experience! I think lots of credit of the experience goes to the location itselt. It levels up the experience. Not to mention the delicious food and drinks and service offered by Tracy and her team in a warm little hut, with costumes for us to take pictures. The driver (forgot his name) helped us to take some amazing photos under the lights too. Very grateful! The only thing was the pick up time took a while to finish. Coz the aurora was already going crazy when we were at the hotel, as someone who saw the aurora for the first time I thought, oh no will it end before we even arrived? But luckily it didnt! And it went even crazier when we got there! My friend and I were very happy about the entire experience. Thank you Tracy and greetings from Hong Kong!

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank You very much! Yes that was a lucky great night. Thanks for the review. We Love our large apace for viewing. Tracy and Sim.

Rustic but alot fun!

SUEANN_E, Oct 2025
This is very rustic but fun. Tracy and Sim our tour guides were great! The fish chowder and bannock were delicious. Dressing up in the furs were fun. We toasted marshmallows and made smores around the fire. Unfortunately the aurora did not make an appearance. The sky was too cloudy for it to be visible. If you need to go to the bathroom you will using an outhouse. There is no running water there. I would recommend bringing hand sanitizer. Also you are walking into a wooded area...so wear appropriate footwear and I would bring a flashlight to see your way through the woods if you don't have a cell phone with the flashlight app. The flashlight app works well but not enough light if you're guiding more than yourself as the terrain is abit uneven....especially if you are unsteady on your feet. The cabin was very warm inside which was great. It was indeed cozy. It held maybe 25 people.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank You. Yes we are in the bush. We need that darkness for the Aurora. We do have a large deck, if anyone prefers to stay mobile. Thank You for the review. Tracy

Raining day

Peifang_Y, Sep 2025
This tour is good for the people like to have romantic time and warm place when they watch the northern light, the tour only stay in one place. It’s nice to have a warm room to stay and hot soup and drink. There’re and custom clothes to change to take pictures and keep your warm. Do even last nigh is raining, we still have a good time.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank You so much. Happy it was romantic. Thanks Tracy

We had a wonderful night...

Inbok_R, Sep 2025
We had a wonderful night at the cozy cabin. The bannock and chowder were delicious, and Tracy’s stories about the Indigenous people of the region made the evening even more special. Best of all, the aurora came out in full, dancing across the sky — and since it wasn’t too cold, we could comfortably enjoy the show outside. A perfect experience I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting Yellowknife.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank You so much. She didi put ona great show. We appreciate the review. Tracy

Teepees furs chowder and more!

Bill_B, Sep 2025
The cozy cabin experience was excellent the host prepared, great fish, chowder, and bread with hot chocolate, and most importantly, provided expensive fur coats to keep warm and look fashionable

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank You.

A+ all the way

Mary_C, Apr 2025
This is an A+ experience all the way. Tracy, the guide, is such a vibrant and interesting person to start with. She got our whole group talking, and we learned so many interesting things about the Northwest Territories and beyond. She and the pleasant young driver (sorry, I'm forgetting his name) brought us to the most charming cabin ever, which she has filled with vintage teapots and other artifacts as well as fur coats and hats, salvaged from thrift shops. She told us about having seen a lynx(!) in front of the cabin not too long ago, which seemed fitting for such a magical place. Then she served us the best fish and vegetable chowder I've ever tasted and some bannock bread, like a big scone, with high quality preserves. The whole night was so enchanting that I didn't even feel disappointed that the lights had failed to break through the thick cloud cover that night.

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Aww Thank You Mary. So very kind, yes our cloudy night. We did have great group. Thanks for the very kind review. Tracy nd Sim

Even though we only had a...

Ingrid_R, Mar 2025
Even though we only had a couple of hours of clear sky, we captured lots of Aurora images. The tour operated also photographed us and sent us the pictures. Having the chowder and bannock helped to keep us toasty. Tracey was so accommodating and had lots of local lore to share with us.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thank you so much for the review. We so appreciate it. We Love when Lady Aurora appears. Tracy

Best experience

Brittany_L, Mar 2025
Such an amazing experience, the food, the company and the aurora were all amazing! Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Yellowknife!

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Aww Thank You kindly. Tracy

Not just the cabin is cozy

Thomas_B, Feb 2025
Tracy went above and beyond for us. We had delayed flights and thought we would miss our tour. She picked us up at the airport and brought us out to the very cozy cabin. Fed us delicious food in a warm friendly environment. We wore Fur coats which really are the warmest and we got to see the Aurora! Met lovely people to top it off. Tracy made sure to give us all the must to do in Yellowknife. Thank you for an incredible evening.

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you so much. Was so happy she made a quick appearance. I hope you got to see lots more of her. Tracy

Amazing experience

KarenL_F, Feb 2025
We were very lucky as the night we went we had the best experience with the Aurora. Be prepared, it’s very cold out there but there’s a lovely warm cabin to hide in lol. The organizer was lovely, provided hot soup and bannock and lots of hot drinks as needed. Would highly recommend this tour, well organized and they take lots of photos of you too, which they share before you leave. We loved our time out in the wilds, viewing the aurora. Thank you

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank You kindly. yes you were here during our very cold spell. Thanks Tracy

What an experience!

Vitor_C, Feb 2025
This a terrific experience! Tracy and Sim are outstanding hosts, who catered to our every need: from the bus pickup, to the food we ate in the cabin (which was amazing!), to the nice pictures they took of us free of charge. They were very transparent throughout the tour about our expectations to see the aurora, how it looks to the naked eye and the chances of catching it. Luckily, we saw some heavy activity and also saw the lights dancing! I’d definitely recommend this experience!

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you very we much. We appreciate the great review. We did have a good show.

huge hospitality <3

Ayano_M, Jan 2025
I couldn’t see the aurora on the day I attended due to bad weather, but this tour is highly recommended for days like that. There are plenty of card games and Jenga to enjoy, and you can even try on indigenous fur coats and hats. The lovely owner’s storytelling, along with homemade soup and scones, adds a warm touch, and you can make s’mores over a campfire outside. Time flew by as I enjoyed chatting with other participants.

Amazing experience with a cozy cabin hospitality service

Kenny_F, Jan 2025
Tracy was excellent being a host of the tour and we've been waiting for almost three hours and she never gave up, finally we saw the amazing Aurora show up in front of our eyes. that was a great experience.

Response from Host, Jan 2025

Thank You very much. Your review is appreciated. Tracy

Unreal!

Chelsea_K, Dec 2024
Tracey and Sim made this experience unforgettable. They were warm and knowledgeable about history and culture. The food was delicious and the traditional Inuit dress up range was so fun. Our Teenagers loved the whole night, the camp fire, the s’mores and the games. Even though Aurora was in hiding we had the best time and would definitely this experience to all.

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Wow Thank you so very much. We appreciate your kind review. Tracy and Sim.

Book this tour! Great experience!

Teresa_S, Dec 2024
We did a couple of Aurora tours and this was far the best! If you are thinking about this tour or wondering which one to do please think about this one. We did this on my birthday and Tracey went out of her way to do a piece of Nutella damper with sparkles on it. Was a great way to cerebrate. The Aurora lights came out on our way out to the cabin and Singh stopped so we could have a look and took pictures of us for memories. The cabin was nice and warm. Tracey shared stories it was overall an excellent night. Thank you so much 😊

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Thank You so much. I wish I had known it was your birthday. Thank You kindly. Cheers!

Perfect experience! Highly recommended!

Reut_D, Dec 2024
Amazing experience and we didn't even get to see the lights! Everything was just perfect! I won't spoile by telling you everything, I'll judt say it was so fun! Highly recommend it!

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Aww how sweet! thank You Tracy

Terry_Y, Dec 2024
Great aurora show the night we went / so nice to have a place to get in out of the cold - soup and bread were very good

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Thank You, yes, we need those cold temps for the clear skies. Thank You Tracy

Colorado folks

Vickie_T, Dec 2024
Very professional, exceptional information shared at every level. It was certainly Cozy - wood burning stove, hot homemade chowder and bread. AND, lucky as Aurora Borealis was brilliant and dancing. Best experience we’ve had on this trip.

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Thank You my Colorado friends. We got very lucky. Tracy

A magical experience

Paola_B, Nov 2024
I had the best experience ever on the Aurora Boreal tour! The team went above and beyond to make us feel warm and welcome, which was especially appreciated given the chilly winter weather. The location was absolutely amazing, and the viewing spot was perfectly chosen for witnessing the breathtaking Aurora Borealis. The tour exceeded my expectations in every way, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a unique and unforgettable experience.

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Thank You kindly. We so appreciate this. Tracy

Do this one!

Tammy_H, Oct 2024
This tour was our best of three different ones we did. First Tracy picked us up from our BnB so we didn’t have to drive around for a meeting spot. She was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and we loved getting to hear about the area and learn about the Aurora. Her kindness and customer service was above and beyond what we expected and she was really helpful in helping us figure out travel logistics as we left. We loved getting to go out to the cabin and stay warm while we waited for the aurora. It was a small group that and didn’t feel like we were being herded in a big tour. The soup was delicious ( even for someone who doesn’t like fish) and the bread was incredible. It was a perfect midnight lunch on a cool night. The night felt more like an evening with friends than a group tour. We had access to tea and hot chocolate all night, as well as a warm, clean outhouse. They took pictures for us which were as good as the professional ones we had a few nights before and then they sent them to us before we left- with no extra charge. If you’re considering an aurora tour, do this one!

Response from Host, Oct 2024

Thank You Tammy. This is so kind. Tracy

Terrible for photographers

Kimberly_W, Sep 2024
Although the aurora itself was gorgeous, this was the most meh of the viewings I booked, out of 4. The cabin is cute. But there was definitely NOT enough space to spread out, and everyone constantly used flashlights, which makes it much harder to see the aurora. The photographer constantly offered to take shots, but his own constant use of flash made it blindingly difficult to photograph my own shots. Also, the location itself is NOT lakeside, so you don't get any water photos, making my shots rather boring. On a personal note, COVID is still out there, and when I asked to cancel the tour due to two of my group getting sick, Tracy refused to refund our money. She is a small business, but that policy means that she is encouraging folks in a group who were exposed to COVID to knowingly expose others. Of the tours I took, I highly recommend B. Dene (Bobby has great stories and food; felt very homey) and Morningstar's tours (3 different locations! With a really personable photographer, Penny). For all of the other tours, I got beautiful lakeside views, guides that chatted and answered lots of questions, and the other operators were much nicer. Skip the Bucket list.

Response from Host, Sep 2024

Sorry to hear you were disappointed with the Bucket List Tours. The Cozy Cabin is located on two acres of property, nestled in the boreal forest, in which guests can spread out and enjoy taking photos. We encourage guests to take full advantage of the property to spread out and allow photographing the aurora without interruption or distraction. Because we want our guests to capture the best aurora images flashes are not to be used while at the Cozy Cabin. We are not located on the waterfront. We will however in our very short 8 week fall season, where water is visible take our guests to enjoy, photos lake side. The Aurora must be strong to reflect on the water. At Cozy Cabin we have a photographer on site who we encourage frequent check-ins with our guests to have photos taken, as the Aurora views change constantly. We encourage all guests to take full advantage of the support our guides offer. We are here to serve the needs of guests. Our refund policy is very clear in all our advertising. We have a maximum capacity of 20 guests and sell out most evenings. Our policy clearly states, fully refundable up to 7 days in advance of the tour. Unfortunately, cancellations for any reason within 1 hour of the tour are not refundable. We understand cancellations are not ideal and we handle every cancellation very seriously, with advance notice we will attempt to resell the tour or rebook the tour on another day. At Cozy Cabin we offer many activities in the cabin to entertain guests for the evening. We offer many Northern stories; we will assist in helping you plan your stay while visiting Yellowknife. In addition, we serve a local fish chowder, hot bannock from the oven, and beautiful Indigenous clothing for wonderful photo ops. We agree B DENE and Morning Star are excellent options for choosing a Aurora tour in Yellowknife, we work closely with these businesses. We take our reviews very seriously and make every effort to address any concerns and make improvements. The health and safety of our guests is paramount in addition to providing a spectacular experience in the NWT. Thank you for your feedback. We look forward to welcoming our future guests. Thank You for reading Bucket list Tour Reviews.

Cozy Cabin oozed warmth and “aloha” in Yellowknife

JoyLynn_T, Mar 2024
Tracy and her cozy cabin just oozed a genuine warmth! To start, her tour bus was the most comfortable one I had been in Yellowknife. Her chowder and bannock were delicious and she entertained us throughout the night with stories. She took her time and equally spoke with every individual guest all the while cooking and cleaning all at the same time. She was so organized, set everyone’s expectations on how picture taking was going to be once the aurora came out. She also provided ingredients for s’mores that you could make in the fire pit outside. There were a plethora of fur coats that you could try on and wear. She also briefly educated us on the indigenous people and the Yellowknife history. Honestly, even if I didn’t see the Aurora, it would have been a great time. The aurora was just the cherry on top to a wonderful night. I did this tour on the last night of my stay in Yellowknife. I was saving the best for last! Our tour was suppose to end at 2pm but the Aurora came out later in the night so she let us stay to watch for longer and we didn’t get back to the hotel until 3am. I highly recommend that you take Tracy’s tour. On the coldest of nights, a mom and her son from Hawaii could feel the “aloha” in Yellowknife.

Take this tour with Tracy

Shanea_W, Mar 2024
Tonight (well last night now I suppose) we took the Cozy Cabin Tour with Tracy. When I tell you hospitality is real in Yellowknife I mean it wholeheartedly. We were picked up by Derek, our driver for the evening. And we picked up the other tour guests and made our way to the cozy cabin. Tracy prepared a midnight meal of fresh bannock (bread) and fish chowder. We dressed up in furs and Inuit coats She told us all about her life and life in Yellowknife. We especially enjoyed hearing about the common animals and the indigenous heritage of the region. We enjoyed hot chocolate around 1 am.. Then Ms. Aurora showed up and left us speechless. There truly are no words..

Response from Host, Apr 2024

Thank You so much. Derrick is an amazing part of our team. We quite Love what we do. Thank You for the great review. Tracy

The best!

Lanie_C, Mar 2024
Tracy is a great hostess! We did 3 different aurora excursions and hers was the best for environment and service. The small group atmosphere was much nicer than the “Disney” style of the big place. The traditional stew and bannock were delicious and included in the price. No up charge for taking photos of us with the auroras. The driver was very friendly and shared his experiences as an indigenous native of the area. This is just an all around good time!

Response from Host, Mar 2024

Thank You Lanie, I enjoyed our time together. Tracy
