I don’t like cooking, but I love exploring new cultures and I find food as one of the primary ways to learn about different cultures.
We opted for the 7:00am cooking class with the market tour. Our driver Aris picked us up from our hotel on time given the heavy traffic in Bali.
We arrived at the market and were treated by Putri to many different known and exotic foods and fruits. We didn’t need to buy anything at the market because Putri’s colleague had already purchased the items we needed for the cooking class.
We arrived at the Lesung Bali cooking class campus and we started with coffee and tea followed by the exploration of a traditional Balinese residence.
Our cooking class started after. Putri was funny and informative. We learned authentic Balinese cooking techniques and cuisine. Additionally, Putri took as many photos and videos and we wanted. We had so much fun joking around and learning while preparing our meal.
Once the cooking ended, we sat down for a nice lunch. Everything we made was well seasoned. I think my favorite items were the salad and the soup. The weather was perfect for outdoor cooking.
I highly recommend this cooking class. You’ll have a good time and a good meal.

Did this class with my spouse and our son. First our driver was amazing he was pleasant and even made a stop at our request. He answered any questions we had about local culture. The class was amazing the teacher putri was a delight, she showed us every step and and made sure we tried things along the way to ensure they fit our taste buds. She didn’t rush us. It’s a family run business and they all are friendly and sweet. I highly recommend. You cook 6 dishes and it’s a lot of food no way to leave hungry. The food is amazing. They even show you their personal home. It’s the most personal amazing experience. Do not miss out take this class so worth it.

This experience was the highlight of our visit to Bali. We, indeed, went into an actual Balinese home where they were holding a ceremony that day for Gusti’s baby’s one month birthday (according to the Balinese calendar). Our driver (Gusti Alit) picked us up at the villa and there we met Beego, the chef. They took us around the open market to show us the different fruits and ingredients we’d be using later on. Then we went and started cooking. The process was very involved but with the help of Beego, we were able to pull through with no problems. We prepared 7 dishes and they were all amazing! We highly recommend this as a part of everyone’s visit to Bali. Not only for learning to cook and tasting their food, but also for the cultural insights and a peek into their everyday life.
