Magical Day
We arrived in Labuan Bajo without realizing Komodo National Park was closed due to a weather incident. Luckily for us, we were able to extend our trip an extra day and although it was touch-and-go until the last minute, the park did reopen on the last day of our stay (it had been closed from 12/28-1/8). The tour operator kept in touch and let us know as soon as they were cleared to sail and we were on the 5:30am boat out on January 9. It was definitely worth the wait and the trip met or exceeded all of our expectations. The first stop at Padar Island was breathtaking and we were thrilled to be there ahead of the crowds. A herd of wild deer met as at the beach for a picture perfect start. The pink beach was also beautiful and relaxing and we found both deer and dragon footprints on the beach which added to our already building excitement. Finally arriving on Komodo island, we stepped onto the pier and immediately saw a dragon roaming the beach in the distance. On our walking tour we saw 7 dragons of varying sizes and the rangers were excellent photographers, posing us perfectly behind the dragons to give us incredible pictures while keeping us safe. We also saw scrub fowl and cockatoos along the way as well as a variety of orchids and other plants. We had planned the trip specifically to see the dragons and felt the rest of the snorkeling would just be a nice add-on but those stops actually turned out to be a highlight of the day. The coral reefs were beautiful though there were a few people on our boat that were not good snorkelers and we were dismayed to see them kicking the coral. **Please be careful in the shallow water to avoid further damage to the reef.** We saw a huge variety of fish and 7-8 large sea turtles. Snorkeling with the manta rays was also an incredible experience. We saw 3 mantas and it made for a truly magical day. The entire park is gorgeous, our guide was personable and helpful, and even the weather cooperated to make our trip a memorable one.

10/10 no notes needed
This was the trip of dreams! Komodo had been experiencing closures when we were scheduled to go so the wonderful tour staff of East Cruise Tours offered an alternative, private, plan to see komodo dragons and snorkel. However, last minute they were able to secure a permit for our original itinerary! Through the entire process, they were very communicative and made it as seamless as possible.
On our trip, the guides went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time, with safety as the #1 priority. The itinerary is packed with adventure, but at no time did I feel rushed or that I could not enjoy the destination.

Don't hesitate. Don't be anxious. Just book. Highlight of our Indonesia trip!
I'll start off by saying that, after a lot of research, it became very clear that there was no tour that was only to Komodo island - most include Padar island, Pink Beach, and snorkelling. So I booked this trip for my partner and myself after reading other reviews.
One of the main reasons I wanted a trip to see the Komodos without other experiences such as snorkelling, is because I'm VERY nervous when it comes to deep water. However, my anxiety was completely unnecessary! The crew/guides were so supportive and helpful, had plenty of life jackets available, and one of our guides actually got in the water with the life ring and "towed" a couple of us along for additional peace of mind. So, for other tourists who are equally nervous - don't be. I faced my fears and was able to see sea turtles while snorkelling, while my partner (who is very confident in the water) saw manta rays.
The hike on Padar was tough-ish, mainly due to the humidity and steep uneven/unfinished path/stairs in some places. Needless to say, bring sensible shoes for this portion of the tour - we saw so many people struggling in thongs/sandals. The view at the top is absolutely worth it, and the crew provides you with water before you start. Be sure to apply sunscreen and wear a cover-up and hat - there is little to no shade.
Pink beach was nice - and yes, actually pink. Be careful, there is sharp coral all through the beach, wear your thongs/sandals/soled dive shoes when walking/swimming.
Komodo island was incredible! We got so lucky and saw 9 - including a baby!! The crew walk you to the entrance and introduce you to your island guides who are very aware the entire time you walk around and are more than happy to take photos for you. It's a pretty dry environment so be sure to take more water with you on this walk. They have a lot of stalls to purchase souvenirs from (unfortunately didn't get a lot of time for this though). The included lunch was quite nice and filling and able to be enjoyed in the shade next to the beach.
The next stop was a sandbar in the middle of the ocean - crystal clear waters with lots of marine life. Nice and shallow for those anxious swimmers, but the opportunity is there to swim further out and snorkel over reefs. This was a nice refresher with the heat and humidity.
After this, we went to a couple of other locations for snorkelling. As I mentioned earlier, I was pretty nervous about the snorkelling due to the deep water, but it was great! The crew were amazing when it came to spotting mantas and turtles and were very quick to get the group in the water so they didn't miss out.
This tour was a real highlight of our holiday. The crew was amazing and regularly brought out snacks, and the drinks were on ice and self serve. They were incredibly polite and helpful and really went above and beyond to make sure everyone was safe and comfortable.

One day - lots of adventure.
Good mixture of scenery, wildlife and adventure. If you only have one day and want to get a taste of a lot of outdoor things, this is a great tour. From an early morning hill climb to snorkeling in what feels like being inside a tropical aquarium. In between, beautiful beaches and the ancient Komodo dragon. Great sampling of the area.
