Meet your guide and group, then venture into Kensington Market, a distinctively multicultural neighborhood in downtown Toronto. This area is one of the city’s oldest and most well-known regions and has been designated as a National Historic Site of Canada.
Kensington Market evolved from a working-class Jewish market into a working-class bohemian market. With so many different immigrants settling here over the past century, there is now an ample variety of colors, sounds and flavors from all over the world. Witness the vintage shops, cafes, bakeries and bars, plus the plethora of bare brick walls that have been covered with stunning graffiti murals and street art.
Visit several shops, bakeries and vendors on this unique tour and indulge in sweet and savory tastes from around the world. You'll even get to try a truly 'Canadian' dish that has been given a special twist for the tour.
Between stops, learn about the history and culture of food in Toronto and find out the little-known secrets behind the food we eat every day. The series of tastings equals a hearty lunch.

This is my second time, taking the tour with guest in from out of town. I was thrilled when Ochile was our tour guide again. She really brings an authentic, knowledgeable perspective on Kensington market.

Great sampling of Toronto cuisine. Damien did a great job showing us around Kensington, where we got to try some wonderful food: Borekas, coffee, Jamaican beef patties, Bao bun, taco, and churro. All was delicious except the Bao, which was a little cold.

That sounds like a tasty selection of foods, we are happy to hear you had a great time exploring the flavours of Kensington with Damian. Thanks for joining and leaving the review!
Our tour guide, Damian, was super knowledgeable about the area. He walked us through Kensington Market. The tour started at one of the first coffee shops in Kensington that served a savory and flaky Jewish meat patty (can’t remember the name) and then stopped us into several mom and pop restaurants to enjoy local street food throughout Kensington. The pacing was great and kept us entertained. Altogether, we had 5 treats — Jamaican meat patty from a tiny carribean market, two kinds of takoyaki from an even tinier restaurant run by one woman but with a steady flow of customers, vegetarian and pork momos from a Tibetan restaurant, barbacoa tacos from one of the first tacos places on Kensington (my son had the fish tacos which was just as good as the barbacoa, and then the finale at a Churro stands. Overall, a great way to spend the morning.

Our host, Odeil was wonderful. The experience felt like being welcomed into her home. It’s a great way to meet people that you would not usually connect with and try new foods with a bit of history thrown in. If it’s a hot day, bring a portable fan!

I would absolutely do this tour again! As someone traveling from another country, I found it very easy to locate the meeting point, and our tour guide, Damien, was friendly, welcoming, and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the experience.
The restaurant selections were excellent and offered a great variety of food. My favorites were the momos and tacos, and of course, the delicious dessert at the end. The tour started right on time and finished as scheduled, which I really appreciated.
One added bonus is that after the tour, you can continue exploring the market on your own. Along the way, we passed several interesting shops that are worth checking out. The whole area has a great atmosphere and is a destination in itself.
I would definitely recommend booking this tour!

Thank you for the amazingly detailed review! We love to hear that you enjoyed the full experience from the food to the time spent with your guide. We hope to see you again in the future!
Oh this was such a nice tour! Odile was darling, answering our questions, taking us to cool hidden architecture spots we would have missed on our own, and showing us all the best spots to eat- plus six amazing tastes- these were not just small bites, it’s a whole Jamaican patty, whole taco, etc. Our only surprise was that Kensington is a neighborhood, not a “market” per se. Still super worth the trip!!

The tour was excellent! Our guide was knowledgeable about the changing face of Kensington Market and was very personable. Our food tastings were delicious and good examples of the various cuisines of the cultures represented in Kensington Market district. My last trip there was fifty years ago and the change was remarkable.

Odile was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. A nice variety of tastings, highly recommend. We were lucky to have our tour on the last Sunday of the month to enjoy the streets being closed to traffic.

Happy to hear you had a fantastic time, thanks for the review!
This is an interesting tour and Odile was an excellent guide. She clearly knows the area really well and took us to places I would never have thought to go into. All the tastings were very good quality, although a bit heavy on the carbs! Kensington market is not an actual marketplace in the usual sense - its an area full of small independent shops and eating places- but it has a huge variety of international food available.

This tour provided by Tasty Tours with Odile as the guide is a wonderful way to learn about the Kensington community and taste their foods. Odile knows the community and has wonderful insights having owned a shop in the area for many years.

It makes for an extra special tour when your guide is someone with so much personal experience in the Market. Glad you enjoyed exploring Kensington, thanks for joining us!
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The pace was good. The food was great as well! A really great experience all around!
Odile was a wonderful tour guide! Her background and relationship with community made all the difference. She was knowledgeable of the history of Kensington Market and the food she introduced us to. My wife being gluten and dairy free, she made sure that she was able to partake in the eating experience with delicious options from restaurants that were in the community.
We took four tours in four days, and this was one of the most interesting. I particularly appreciated the variety of food we got to taste (American, Japanese, Caribbean, Tibetan, and South American). The tour guide did an excellent job. There was not too much walking, and the breaks to eat made the day easy. I would definitely recommend this tour to a friend.
